Republican Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz filed an ethics complaint Tuesday against former Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy after he and Tennessee Rep. Tim Burchett, who voted to oust McCarthy as speaker, got into a heated altercation after a closed-door GOP meeting. (snip) "This assault was witnessed by numerous people, including Claudia Griseles of NPR, who was interviewing Rep. Burchett at the time. For his part, Rep. Burchett has described the attack as a ‘sucker punch’ and ‘a clean shot to the kidney.’ Needless to say, this incident deserves immediate and swift investigation by the Ethics Committee,” Gaetz wrote in the formal ethics complaint.

Mutt gaetz is sure quick on the attack. I wish he were quick to do something for someone other than himself.

As I posted previously this is the reason de Tocqueville had a low opinion of the House of Representatives, he kind of thought of them as the rabble.

Why blame Gaetz? After all Burchett stated he was sucker punched by Kevin & it was witnessed by several people!

Looks like the Rebublicans couldn't go two weeks without imitating a Monkey Feces fight at the zoo. What a bunch of clowns. This sounds like FBI claiming parents are now terrorist. Pure conjecture and petty.

Sure hope Gaetz knows of someone who will be able to win in McCarthy's district since he's almost assuredly going to retire from Congress now.
You don't think the GOP needs those 4-5 House seats McCarthy helped ensure had the funds to be competitive in the previous election?
When Gaetz finds himself in the House minority, he likely won't find it much fun how the Democrats run things. And, he should not expect General Order to resume under Democrats either, or any funding in Gaetz's district.

We need more politicians Like Gaetz
Just like we need more cockroaches
But wait
Cockroaches do provide SOME value to the ecosystem
Gaetz provides nothing...except to Gaetz
Truly a detestable, useless excuse of a human being.

The stupidity of Gaetz knows no bounds. He exploded a bomb to be rid of Kevin McCarthy, even though he had no candidate in mind to become the new speaker or any coherent plan to select one. Other wiser Republicans, with far better characters than Gaetz, ultimately bailed him out and the House finally got a new speaker. His bacon was saved and to pay back those who saved it he elbows himself hysterically forward with a new, useless distraction. The victim of the so-called assault has declined to file a complaint. Gaetz is a drama queen.

Usual suspects still pretending that Republicans were ever going to do anything useful with a majority. If far left democrats bothered them, they would have done something about it long before things went down between Gaetz and McCarthy.

That darn Gaetz is such a meanie. How dare he file a complaint against poor, sweet Kevin McCarthy for deliberately assaulting another member of Congress! It’s high time he learned just who rules the GOPe roost.

Contrary to many comments posted here, Gaetz did the right thing ousting McCarthy and I have no problem with an ethics complaint against the former Speaker. Stop blaming Gaetz for the ills in Congress. He is one guy trying to do the right thing. If you all want to rebel rouse, how about directing your ire on the 8 Republicans who refused to impeach Mayorkas yesterday!! For that there is simply no excuse.

Like #13 said, contrary to what most posters are saying on this thread, Kevin McCarthy has no business touching anyone. And then to sucker punch someone in the kidneys in excusable. A person has no idea what another person could be going through medically. . .
