The House voted 209-201 Monday night to sideline a resolution introduced by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) to impeach Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for his disastrous mishandling of the border, even as House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) greases the skids on a funding package that punts a broader border policy battle until the new year.
Greene introduced the privileged resolution Friday, one day after two of her constituents were killed in Texas in a head-on collision with a car driven by a human smuggler evading police.

I’ve listened to the new Speaker and have been heartened.
But….
ANOTHER CR to kick the budget down the field, and now people with an “R” can’t get in line with their party to impeach a worthless cabinet secretary??!!
I hope my disappointment starts to turn around.
Soon.

If we could have a speaker for the day program where everyday American citizens took turns at it, at least 50% of the time you'd get a good speaker. Fifty percent is better than what we're getting now. It seems like Mr. Johnson's same-o same-o column is way longer than his about darn time column. But hey, it's time for another break so congress can live life like it's golden. Voting them out means nothing; their replacements are not much better. In fact, the replacements are teed up to stick it to US even more. I don't believe elections on our side are without fraud. Explain Mitch and Lindsey. I live in SC and can't understand how Lindsey girl keeps getting elected in one of the most conservative states in the country. I just don't get it, except for fraud. Maybe he didn't have a good steal plan in place the last election. Lindsey was petrified of losing to a democrat; he scared conservatives into voting him back in/giving him enough votes to accomplish the steal.

The good news is that the republicans won the House. The bad news is that too many of them are stupid, clueless and selfish when it comes to using that power for the good of the American people.

Real Americans need a new party. The Republican party has disappointed us long enough.

25 House members did not vote. We need the list of Republicans not voting on this measure, so they can be removed from Congress. As for the 8 Republicans that voted against impeachment, they should be voted out of Congress. We are nearing the end of this Congressional term due to approaching electioneering, and the assessment is again: The Republicans have accomplished nothing, as that is what they intended from the start. They feed us what they know we want to hear, then continually postpone any action until it is too late. All we ever get is they control 1/2 of 1/3 of the government. Really? We installed a majority in the SCOTUS. Republicans control most of the state legislatures, and governorships. And we have gotten nothing. The Senate majority is very slim, but there is no opposition from McConnell. Again, nothing. The Republican Party is worthless.

You forgot corrupt, poster # 7. Yes, that's right. Many of our wonderful reps with Rs by their names are corrupt. No one could be as stupid as the repeat offender rinos, so it's likely something else. I guess it could be blackmail, but my money is on corrupt.

I think I get it now. CRs are only bad if supported by Republicans not named Trump. It's Ok if he kicks the proverbial can down the road, because other Republicans can conveniently be blamed, fueling the growing anti-Republican sentiment on these pages. I would have preferred Mayorkas be impeached but the chance for removal is slim to none without out the Senate's votes to remove. It's Biden who should be really be impeached, as our Constitution, Article 2, Section 3, charges the Chief executive to "Take care that the laws be faithfully executed." President George Washington noted, “It is my duty to see the Laws executed: to permit them to be trampled upon with impunity would be repugnant to” that duty. Biden has certainly trampled on our immigration laws. Economic asylum is not permitted by immigration law currently on the books. Once again, the Senate stands in the breach, ready to nullify any action by the House that requires both houses of Congress to be in accord, such as impeachment and removal. Trump was not removed because the Republican Senate did not vote to remove him from office following his multiple House democrat impeachments. Taking the Senate from the democrats would seem to be the next logical step but killing off the GOP appears to be growing in popularity, despite the boost that would provide to perpetual democrat rule.
