Is Hamas Caving?

It looks like Hamas realizes that is is outmatched by Israel’s military power, and is getting desperate. According to recent reports, Hamas is now offering to release civilian hostages in exchange for a short, five-day ceasefire. "Although the terms have varied in recent weeks, Hamas has indicated most recently that it would release all civilian hostages in exchange for a five-day pause, according to diplomats familiar with the discussions who spoke on the condition of anonymity about the sensitive matter. Israeli military captives, whose precise number is unknown, would be retained, possibly to eventually be offered in trade for Palestinian prisoners in Israel,” reports The Washington Post.

The only reasonable response would be "We don't negotiate with terrorists. Release all of the hostages NOW or the bombing increases."

I believe they would fake signs of weakening, and if Israel backed off even a little, there would be another October 7th, but much worse. The Quran tells them to lie to the infidels. That’s why Obama claimed to be a Christian.

#3 is correct. Being the suspicious sort that I am, I would have to wonder how these terrorists plan to spend their time during the 5 day ceasefire. I still advise a permanent ceasefire after these thugs have been obliterated and are on their way to meeting their assigned virgins. ZERO peace be upon them in eternity!!

The screams from the left for a cease fire tells us all we need to know. Hamas is being exterminated and the left knows it. All these calls for “cease fire” or “pause” is an attempt to allow Hamas to regroup and re-arm. Fortunately, Bibi told Blinkin to stick that where the sun don’t shine. The Jews will now be relentless. Even the leaders of Hamas living in luxury in Quatar are targets. The Mossad has long memories. Ask that guy Eichman about that. Oh, wait, he is unavailable for comment.

If Hamas was winning, they would never, ever agree to a cease fire, and the media wouldn't be calling for one either.

Hama doesn't need to cave. Hamas needs to be ground fine and crushed into the earth never to rise again. They have shown themselves to be monsters, creatures incapable of living with human beings.

Hamas has implied that 40,000 fighters are in the tunnels. That’s the wrong place to be if Israel controls the surface and can flood (and drill into) the tunnels, killing all of them. 5 days would get them out, if you actually believe they have that many down there.

I would like to think that if I were a hostage, I would do what I could to take a few of these animals with me. Easy to say, I know. Keep going Benjamin. A ceasefire will only result in dead Israelis.

Remember St. George of Fentanylville, the career criminal who once held a gun to the belly of a pregnant woman? He was martyred while resisting arrest for a felony, after having fought his way out of the squad car and requiring four adult male officers to wrestle him to the ground. Whether he died from the weight of the officers or from a drug overdose is open for debate. But what is undebatable is the epilogue. American cities burned and innocents were murdered in response to this supposed revelation of American systemic racism against blacks. Whatever your opinion of Derek Chauvin, not a single shred of evidence

The Washington Post has a story today about the network of tunnels dug beneath Gaza by Hamas fighters. The entire network is estimated to stretch over 300 miles despite the Gaza strip being on 25 miles long. It’s where Hamas fighters have been hiding out since the start of Israel’s military response to the 10/7 attack. But the IDF has no intention of entering the tunnels which are likely booby-trapped. Israeli military protocol generally prohibits regular ground troops from entering tunnels, as the chances of being killed or captured is too high. Israelis have seen their soldiers grabbed and dragged into tunnels, so the likely strategy will be to attempt

Sometimes it takes a punch to the gut or a slap in the face. For many “civilized” people the instinct is to deescalate, to appease an adversary, based on the belief that civilized people do their best to avoid fights. It’s a tactic that is smart when dealing with other civilized people. Generally speaking, fighting is a losing proposition, and if you can resolve a dispute by talking and compromise the chances that the costs of compromise will be lower than the costs of fighting are high. But this instinct is wrong, even stupid when dealing with uncivilized people. Their goals and attitudes are fundamentally different and they see appeasement

The unambiguous loser of the Iran vs Israel war is Joe Biden's Middle East policy. Any plausible continuation requires a completely different set of people, policies and approach. The former road now seems fundamentally flawed. It's not a question of waiting for things to blow over and keep going because the errors were more than tactical. The whole world view on which it was premised has gone out of date. Are we entering a period of institutional, social and technological discontinuity where the old progressive saws no longer apply? “This may be the most dangerous time the world has seen in decades,” JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon said in a statement

But I predict Hunter will slither out of his legal problems with the help of the swamp. But not for the reason you think. This prediction prompts a couple of big questions: Wut? Why? How? And that's where my theory gets interesting.

Americans justly love cars, for necessity, for pleasure, and everything in between. In all we drive more than three trillion miles per year, in 290 million registered cars, of which some 287 million are internal combustion engines. Today’s cars are without doubt among the most highly evolved, reliable, innovative and efficient forms of production ever witnessed. Exactly the prime target you would expect from the Biden administration. The EPA has announced planned emission regulations that will end the U.S. automotive industry as we know it, while simultaneously forcing Americans into EV cars they manifestly do not want. The proposed regulations are being called “the single most important regulatory initiative

The Democratic Party is undergoing a civil war over Gaza and Israel. Traditional Democrats like Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer are pro-Israel. Possibly this has something to do with the fact that American Jews contribute a large portion–last time I saw the numbers, more than half–of all campaign funds for Democratic candidates. To be fair, however, it may also reflect basic human decency. But the newer generation of Democrats, represented by the Squad, is not impressed. They hate Israel and don’t much like Jews. And the Squad speaks for lots of Democrats: Joe Biden’s approval ratings have fallen among Democrats, apparently because many object to the pro-Israel stance

The team uncovered four sinking 'hot spot' cities in Bangladesh, China, the Philippines and Pakistan, with yearly subsidence rates of up to five centimeters.

CHICAGO — Sophee Langerman was on her way to a bicycle safety rally in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood in June when a car turning right rolled through a red light and slammed into her bike, which she was walking off the curb and into the crosswalk. The car was moving slowly enough that Langerman escaped serious injury, but the bicycle required extensive repairs. To Langerman, it’s another argument for ending a practice that almost all U.S. cities have embraced for decades: the legal prerogative for a driver to turn right after stopping at a red light. Combine that cleverness with the fact that he truly dislikes Israel and has aligned himself with those countries and groups that wish to destroy the country, complete with the genocide of all of its inhabitants, and you end up with someone who covertly signals to Israel’s enemies his ideological allegiance with them, even while seemingly treading a morally meaningless line right down the middle. Instead of moving forward and returning to normalcy, health officials double down on precautionary measures to “limit the spread of RSV, the flu and COVID.” This month, Santa Clara County decided that everyone — patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers alike — must don the all-too-familiar face masks in public patient care areas in hospitals, clinics, and long-term care facilities. This directive is not for a week or a month but for the entire “winter respiratory virus period,” Mercury News reported. This mandate is slated to span from November 1 to the end of March. That’s a whole five months of mask-wearing, in spite of declining COVID cases.
