How the Hamas Attack Took Israel by Surprise

Original Article

A week before its attack Hamas agreed to another truce with Israel. The agreement negotiated by Qatar, Egypt and the United Nations traded an end to border attacks for more imports, a bigger fishing zone and more work permits that allowed 20,000 Gaza Muslims to enter Israel. The agreement reached between Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, and Sukkot, the conclusion of the High Holy Days season, offered an end to the explosives and rocks being hurled at Israeli soldiers on the border and the incendiary balloons starting fires on Israeli farms. And terrorist attacks on civilians like the murder of Batsheva Nigri: a kindergarten teacher shot

Comments:

Eternally optimistic, Israel keeps trying to make friends with terrorists. Those thousands of Gazans with work permits in Israel were just spies figuring out exactly where they would kill women and children. Hamas cares nothing about the money these workers were bringing into Gaza, or the benefits Gazans could have if Hamas made peace. All these monsters care about is wiping out Jews and the state of Israel. I'm sure Hamas is here in the U.S. and we'll see their work soon.

Unfortunately, we don’t believe these terrorists when they scream death to Israel and death to America because we are not like them. We do not wish constant war and unbelievable atrocities on our enemies. We just do not think that way. However, someone must do that kind of thinking. They have to think the worst and prepare for it. We need the kind of men who are ever vigilant and will not let their guard down. I fear for our country. No one is paying attention to the millions of illegal aliens roaming this country. If you think 9/11 was horrific, wait and see what they are planning now. Imagine something like that happening all around the country, not on such a big scale, but all happening at the same time. It would be utter chaos. We are not prepared and this administration is too incompetent to deal with the aftermath. God help us to survive this administration. It does not have the best interests of this country at heart and is openly funding terrorist regimes. This will not end well.

When someone says they want to kill you, believe them! We have an open border through which there are likely many people planning to do this country great harm. Shut the border and seek out those planning violence. Why is that so hard to understand?

As there are traitors in our government working behind the scenes toward our destruction, there are very likely traitors in Israel's government working to do the same there. I find it difficult to believe that they were totally blindsided by this event given their level of intelligence gathering.

Once you understand that your enemy HATES you more than they LOVE their own children, things should become crystal clear. Israel's biggest weakness is that their enemies know that the Israelis HIGHLY value life. They will go to great lengths to save one life and they will go to great links to avoid taking a life. Sadly, the cancer of Islamic Jihad and Jew hatred will persist in Israel as long as the "Palestinians" are allowed to remain in their "territories."

Best analysis I have seen of this. Probably accurate. Bet Israel won't make this mistake again. Israel talks about wiping out Hamas, but is that even possible? Guessing Hamas is all over the world at this point. At least they will get rid of them inside Israel.

I really don’t think either side is the good guys. Having said that, let’s leave Israel on its own. They can fight this one out without US. When they run out of ammo, and Hamas runs out of ammo, and the same goes true for Hezbollah and ISIS, the survivors can sit around whatever’s left and talk things over. Without US. Hint: if we don’t send them ammo, they’ll run out and have to stop sooner. How many lives can we save if we send them no money? Sorry, senators, and Mr President, you’ll have to skip this one out. You won’t be getting your cut this time.

Liberal journalists are attacking new House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA.) for not owning a fancy car or owning a million-dollar home. This week, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL.) roasted a Daily Beast reporter who scorched Johnson for not having “any retirement savings, own a single stock, or have any assets at all. He has less than $5,000 in his bank account.” Advertisement The Daily Beast’s Matt Fuller linked his tweet to a story that discussed Johnson’s financial position as “extraordinarily precarious.” Fuller mocked the new House Speaker for having a mortgage that only costs $250,000-$500,000, a home equity loan, and a personal loan.

It is perhaps the fate of startling wisdom to become a repeated cliche. This is certainly what has happened to Arendt’s formulation regarding the ‘banality of evil’. What was a remarkable insight into the mediocrity and insignificance of men capable of astonishing evils (and hence the capacity of anyone of us to do the same) gradually became part of the furniture of discussions on totalitarianism. And like furniture, we would sit on it without paying it much attention. So yes, we all knew that Himmler was a failed chicken farmer. We all knew that much of the architecture of evil was conducted by little grey men with little grey souls.

Among the litter of guns, korans, and maps discarded by the Hamas terrorists whose bodies lie alongside bullet-riddled vehicles and dusty roads are green Gaza IDs with work permits. Normally residents of the Hamas territory can’t enter Israel, but work permits allowed over 20,000 Gazans to enter Israel. When some returned, it was as Hamas rapists and killers. The Hamas invasion succeeded so well because the terrorists had an intimate knowledge of the communities they were targeting because they had worked there or had intelligence from those who had worked there. The attackers had detailed maps and building layouts. One woman whose husband and son were murdered said
