Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) spoke the plain truth about the nearly 500 Americans in Gaza not being allowed to leave by Hamas: They are being held hostage by the Islamist Palestinian terrorist group. The nearly 500 are in addition to the “less than ten” Americans known to have been taken hostage in the October 7 terror attack by Hamas on Israel. The Biden administration has said Hamas has been making demands for their release that the U.S. is not prepared to meet.
Only two American have been allowed to leave Hamas-controlled Gaza since the October 7 attack that saw 1,400 Israelis and 33 Americans killed.

Why are there so many Americans there in the first place? Might be a good idea to thoroughly vet them before they return to the USA.

Kirby says "less than 10 formerly held" but now we find out 4 to 500 are not allowed to leave and held captive by Hamas. Not allowed to leave means HOSTAGE . This government can never be honest about one thing, they want the American people kept in the dark. Biden's weakness and that yellow streak that runs down his back is to blame, and I would bet more than the number Americans killed and tortured is higher also. We are more at risk from all the other adversarial countries, more than ever because of Biden. This fool has got to go! Next up will be WW3 if he stays in office.

The Americans there are likely Palestinians who have become naturalized US citizens, plus a few aid workers and peaceniks.

First of all, those people chose to live among animals, their plight can not be used to give any breaks to Hamas or delay the IDF's extermination process. I agree with #3, they are probably not real Americans like the American hostages in Iran were actually Iranians. Hamas and the other terrorist groups must be eradicated or we will go through this again and again. Biden will end up giving Hamas billions of dollars and hampering the IDF because he's a politically motivated coward. That number is most likely another Hamas lie.

Posters 1,3,and 4 you make good points, that didn't occur to me. If they chose to live there, they had to know what Hamas is all about, any and all of these "americans" should be vetted, we have enough faux assylum seekers who are terrorists coming thru the southern border as it is.

Not to be confused with the Americans in Afghanistan held by the Taliban.

JRB's track record on leaving Americans behind is well known. He doesn't bring them home.

Close to the numbers Iran held under Jimmy Peanut. Will we get a similar change of leadership in Washington?

My first instinct is that perhaps they were there to train for future attacks in America. Who else would prefer to live in those crowded conditions and in that culture. They chose to be citizens of the world - so welcome to the world you chose.

Many of them are probably Muzzies turned US citizens. If they don't come back so much the better!

Our weak President has a policy of not rescuing Americans. First Afghanistan. Now Gaza. Where next?

The government is withholding a lot of information about the border, Israel, and Ukraine. Israel is important because it is the only democratic nation in the lands from China to the Atlantic Ocean. That's all of North Africa. Ukraine is important because they are the breadbasket for EU. Why is EU and NATO sitting on their hands and letting America take up most of the support for Ukraine. With the Abrham Accord why aren't the nations in that Accord not helping Israel. Biden is caught between a rock and a hard place with the Democrat Party, they are split and they are beginning to dislike Biden.

If someone with some go-power were to check closely they would probably find that most of the people said to be Americans in Gaza being held hostage believe that they are actually duel nationals, mostly all citizens of Israel and the USA, for which there is no such status recognized in the U.S. Nationality Laws, with those people rather living in Israel than in the USA. As when immigrants apply for and are granted naturalized US citizenship, the oath that they take says that they would put aside all allegiances to foreign countries, but in most cases today immigrants simply ignore that U.S. nationality law requirement and retain their home country citizenship and travel documents. When they want to travel as a U.S. citizen they use their U.S. passport and when they wish to travel using their home country citizen they use their retained home country passport. In reverse there are a lot of U.S. born Jewish people, who are U.S. citizens by birth in the USA who have taken out naturalized Israeli citizenship and who choose to live in Israel rather than in the USA. Who knows if Israel recognizes such a duel nationality status or not. That’s why there are said to be so many U.S. citizens now in Gaza. That also appears to apply to some people who claim to be Palestinians who also may be naturalized U.S. citizens.

Has anyone considered that some of these 500 hostages could be Missionaries? They are there to share the Gospel of the Kingdom of God with the Palestinians. We have missionaries that we are praying for that are in North Korea, China, Cuba, Russia and North Vietnam. Jesus said to go into all the world and preach the gospel and many do.
