Rep. Mike Johnson (R-La.) on Tuesday became the GOP’s fourth nominee for Speaker.(Snip) In 2020, Johnson signed an amicus brief alongside over 100 House Republicans supporting a Texas lawsuit that aimed to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. “President Trump called me this morning to let me know how much he appreciates the amicus brief we are filing on behalf of Members of Congress,” Johnson posted on X,(Snip)He is also a member of many caucuses, including the Congressional Prayer Caucus, the Western Caucus, the Border Caucus, among others.

Comments:

His Conservative Review liberty score is 74%. McCarthy’s is 54%. Jordan’s is 94%. While there is more encouraging info about Johnson in the article, Bryon Donalds scores 100%.

This from CNBC - “On Tuesday, as Johnson was in the running to be speaker, the political team of former Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., circulated a New York Times article that called the Louisiana Republican “the most important architect of the Electoral College objections” on Jan. 6, 2021, aimed at keeping then-President Donald Trump in power even though he lost.”

A ringing endorsement in my opinion. (This is based on the theory of inverse truth, whereby one simply takes the slant, cant and propagandaizing found in the MSM and assumes its opposite to be true.)

From Fox - Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., who led the effort to oust former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, has joined in a chorus of Republicans supporting the new House speaker nominee, Rep. Mike Johnson, R-La. After Republicans spent most of Tuesday behind closed doors selecting Johnson as the new GOP speaker candidate, Gaetz praised him as a "good godly man who's going to advance Republicans." The Florida Republican also told a group of reporters that his colleague is the "best possible candidate" as the GOP looks to finally elect a speaker after McCarthy was voted out of the position three weeks ago.

When his name came up I googled him. The RINOS hate him. I can definitely approve since Jordan is out. I just don't trust Byron Donalds because the Leftist media isn't trying to bring him down.

What's with 'The Hill' and their tying certain candidates back to their support of Trump and his fight over the 2020 election. You'd think 'The Hill' disapproved of candidates that supported the former President or had his endorsement, kind of like RINO's!

Am cautiously optimistic. I remembered him after I watched the videos in the article. He is a very smart, conservative man. I loved the video when he was questioning Mayorkus. It was good to see him pin him down and watch Mayorkus squirm. I hope he is our new Speaker.

My hope is that the 25 or so RINO holdouts will be smart enough to realize the damage their obstinance has caused them. Don Bacon is finished in Nebraska. I hope he is dumb enough to think supporting Johnson will earn him points with his constituents. It won’t, but he is enough of a narcissist to think it will.

Have to believe that the anger between the McCarthy and Jordan factions has been used up and everyone is ready to elect a new Speaker and get back to impeaching Biden.

I know that there are some who clicked on this article absolutely infuriated at the idea that Kevin McCarthy, who was booted from the Speaker's chair over three weeks ago, could end up back in the Speaker's chair after all of this — or that it could be even a possibility.(Snip) So far, it has been an interesting exercise in how to achieve the magic number of 217 and what happens when you don't.Now, the reason I even DARE to bring this scenario up is that Fox News Senior Congressional Correspondent Chad Pergram dropped this little nugget late last night…

Scientists have grown an entity that closely resembles an early human embryo, without using sperm, eggs or a womb. The Weizmann Institute team say their "embryo model", made using stem cells, looks like a textbook example of a real 14-day-old embryo. It even released hormones that turned a pregnancy test positive in the lab.The ambition for embryo models is to provide an ethical way of understanding the earliest moments of our lives. The first weeks after a sperm fertilises an egg is a period of dramatic change - from a collection of indistinct cells to something that eventually becomes recognisable on a baby scan.

The embarrassing impasse in the House of Representatives has finally ended, as Louisiana’s Mike Johnson has been elected Speaker. So, who is Mike Johnson, and why was he finally able to succeed where several more notable House members failed? I suspect that the answer has more to do with desperation than anything else. The Republican Party was made to look ridiculous, not so much by the party’s divisions as by the utter lack of party loyalty and discipline that was revealed by one failed vote after another. Most likely, Republicans coalesced behind Johnson–a little-known commodity, who has never been a committee chairman–to stop the bleeding.
