As my colleague Bob Hoge reported, Joe Biden's speech on Israel and Ukraine on Thursday night was a complete mess. He was requesting aid for Israel, Ukraine, and the Palestinians in Gaza.
He started not being aware that the was live on the air, so there was this awkward pause. But that's typical Joe; he always seems to have some difficulty.
I'm not sure what he thought he would achieve with the speech. I think he was trying to use the support for Israel to bootstrap a comparison to Ukraine, to try to justify why we should support both, but they're not the same. And in the case of Hamas,

The surprise victory in Louisiana’s open gubernatorial primary for Governor-Elect Jeff Landry (R-LA) on Saturday is an encouraging sign for Republicans heading into the 2024 elections, GOP insiders tell Breitbart News.
Landry, who is currently the Bayou State’s attorney general and had the endorsement of former President Donald Trump, won the open primary with a nearly 52 percent majority on Saturday night. In other words, he won the governorship outright without having to face another rival in a November runoff.
The Times-Picayune/New Orleans Advocate reports a significant factor in Landry’s victory was a low turnout, the likes of which had not been seen in a decade,

President Biden delivered a speech to the nation from the Oval Office Thursday evening after returning from Israel in the aftermath of the Hamas terror attacks on October 7. He said he's going to ask Congress to appropriate $100 billion in new funding to combat Hamas and continue to aid Ukraine in its war against Russia. Reportedly, he wants $60 billion more for Ukraine and $14 billion for Israel.
"American leadership is what holds the world together. American alliances are what keep us – America – safe. American values are what make us a partner that other nations want to work with," he said. "To put all that at risk

The Israeli military has a "green light" to move into Gaza whenever it's ready, a member of the country’s security cabinet told ABC News. Hostages and civilian casualties will be secondary to destroying Hamas, Economy Minister Nir Barakat told ABC News, "even if it takes a year." Asked about the miles of tunnels Hamas has built under Gaza, he said they’d become the "world’s biggest cemetery." Hamas has claimed to be holding some or all of the 203 Israeli hostages it’s taken within that vast network.
"We shall do all efforts to bring our hostages, to bring our hostages [back] alive…" he said, but the "first and last priority"

The United States is easing sanctions on Venezuela after the South American country's government and opposition agreed to have next year's election monitored by international observers.
Sanctions will be eased on Venezuela's oil, gas and gold sectors.
The next election in Venezuela has been scheduled for the second half of next year.
Other sanctions imposed over the suppression of protests and the erosion of democracy remain in place.
Washington has cautioned that the relaxation could be reversed if the electoral pact collapses. A new general license issued by the US treasury department authorised Venezuela, which had been under hefty sanctions since 2019, to produce and export oil to its chosen markets

A spate of new attacks on American troops in the Middle East this week is threatening to further entangle the United States in a new regional war, even as the Biden administration tries to prevent the conflict between Israel and Hamas from escalating.
U.S. forces in multiple locations across Iraq and Syria came under attack by aerial drones targeting their positions on Tuesday and Wednesday, according to Pentagon spokesperson Brig. Gen. Patrick Ryder. One American contractor died of a cardiac episode while seeking shelter from the attacks; other troops sustained minor injuries.

A U.S. Navy destroyer shot down three missiles launched by Iranian-backed Houthis in Yemen that were potentially headed for targets in Israel, Pentagon officials said Thursday.
“We cannot say for certain what they were targeting, but they were launched from Yemen, heading north along the Red Sea, potentially toward targets in Israel,” said Pentagon Press Secretary Air Force brigadier general Pat Ryder at a Thursday press briefing.
The ship intercepted three cruise missiles and roughly eight drones, Ryder said. situation unfolded on the same day the U.S. State Department warned U.S. citizens to exercise “increased caution” overseas

In a surprise move, Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, will back a plan to temporarily empower interim speaker Patrick McHenry, R-N.C., until January, according to three sources, allowing legislative business to continue in the face of two wars and a looming government shutdown.
Jordan, the GOP’s latest nominee for speaker who lost two rounds of votes this week, will continue to run for speaker and try to shore up votes in the meantime, the sources said. Later, Republicans leaving a closed-door meeting on the speaker debacle confirmed that Jordan informed the GOP conference he is backing McHenry.

Former Trump attorney Sidney Powell pleaded guilty Thursday morning in the Georgia election interference case on the eve of her trial alongside co-defendant Kenneth Chesebro.
Powell entered her guilty plea in Fulton County Superior Court, part of a deal reached with prosecutors, in which she pled guilty to six misdemeanor counts. In her plea, Powell agreed to serve six years of probation and pay a $6,000 fine and $2,700 in restitution to the state of Georgia. She also agreed to submit an apology letter to the citizens of Georgia and to testify at related court proceedings.

Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis and his administration are aggressively crafting regulations to liberate students, faculty, and administrators from the so-called diversity, equity, and inclusion, or DEI, regime at state-funded colleges and universities, according to a document leaked to The Chronicle of Higher Education.
The draft regulations were circulated to the state’s 17-member Board of Governors, which regulates the Sunshine State's university system. The new rules, expected to take effect this spring, focus on what expenses are authorized and what expenses are not. A state university or state university direct-support organization may not expend any funds, regardless of source,

What’s a fake news outlet like the Washington Post supposed to do when they get busted for sticking with a horrific headline about a deadly airstrike that never happened, almost a full day after it was debunked? A decent paper would retract the story and apologize. I’ve done just that a number of times over the two decades I’ve been writing as VodkaPundit. It’s embarrassing, it sucks — but it has to be done. But the Washington Post, as I’m sure readers here already know, is not a decent paper. In fact, readers everywhere must know it because the money-losing progressive propaganda outlet just announced layoffs of another 240 employees.

President Joe Biden had a rather tone-deaf response to the news Hamas terrorists mistakenly bombed a hospital in the Gaza Strip with a misfired rocket by saying they should “learn how to shoot straight.”
As Breitbart News reported, the mainstream media initially said Israel bombed a hospital in the Gaza Strip only to later have it be confirmed Hamas terrorists bombed the hospital with a misfired rocket.
Breitbart noted, “The IDF have since released audio they say shows the terrorists reacting once they realize their mistake. Hamas and critics of Israel rushed to blame an Israeli airstrike. News wires, like the Getty photo service, published unproven
