Iran has made a significant move to back away from the threat of war with Israel, which it made only Saturday. (snip) After meeting with Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in his palatial five-star digs (snip) far from the front lines in Qatar, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian revised his extended comments by way of a statement by Iran's United Nations mission to clarify that Hamas was on its own. “Iran’s armed forces will not engage, provided that the Israeli apartheid does not dare to attack Iran, its interests, and nationals. The resistance front can defend itself,”

Hamas' leadership learned its lesson after the IDF assassinated one Hamas leader after another years ago. Now he lives in "exile," in kleptocratic style in Qatar, far from Israeli smart bombs like the one that put a hole in the seat of the wheelchair Sheikh Ahmed Ismail Hassan Yassin was sitting in. Leading from WAY behind is the Hamas way nowadays.

Iran almost never uses its own troops - they are pitiful. It's easier to use low-IQ proxies who will carry out Iran's dirty deeds.

Perhaps the use of Jdams to destroy the Hamas tunnels has informed Iran that their own underground is not as safe as they thought.
