The surprise attack by Hamas on Israel suggests a massive intelligence failure as the Israeli government appeared blindsided by the infiltration of Hamas fighters across the southern border and the launch of thousands of rockets.
The Hamas assault by air, land and sea also raised questions as to why U.S. intelligence agencies apparently did not see it coming, experts and former intelligence officials said. U.S. officials said that if the Israelis knew an attack was imminent, they did not share it with Washington.
“We were not tracking this,” one senior U.S. military official told NBC News.

Sure - - sure there was a massive terrorist attack - - but white supremacists are being monitored - - and the transgendered continue to gain more equity.
That's more than good enough intelligence work for me.

Been wondering if the Ukrainian conflict is impacting Israeli policy in some way. Is Russia involved in some way?
Lady Chihuahua wonders if Israel let this attack happen so Hamas would lose support. There are stories that Hamas has killed and kidnapped Israeli-Americans. That would go a long way to silence Israel's critics. If this is the case, doubt Israel ever thought an attack would be of this magnitude.

This wide and co-ordinated operation requires planning. Planning requires chatter. It is inconceivable that US intelligence assets did not have an inkling of this. This war has to start in Washington.

The CIA was too busy spying on Americans with dangerous ideas like "freedom" and "liberty" and "Constitutional rights" to pay attention to international terrorists.

I agree with the obvious - no way was USA intelligence completely unaware of the highly organized efforts going on to start this war. To my mind, this is more confirmation that rogue elements run our CIA and intelligence services. I noticed our media trying hard to avoid use of the word WAR too. WAR was declared on Israel.

The US Intelligence apparatuses were so preoccupied with hunting down all those invisible MAGA bogeymen that they completely ignored what the real threats in the world were doing. Time for a serious house cleaning.

That’s funny….they “missed” the intel leading up to 9/11, too.
Wonder how that happened.

There is one other option. Hamas, Iran, and others have figured out a way to bypass Israeli and US surveillance. That would be a major concern. With all the high-tech surveillance, what if Hamas and Iran figured out a low-tech countermeasure?

when was the last time western "intelligence" agencies were right about anything? oh, yeah, they often tell us they prevented some attack, but did they really?
and let us not forget that our current "resident" has more foreign policy expertise and experience than any prior potus!!

51 of them were busy writing a letter saying that Trump was working with the Russians.
IMO they did know this was coming and for reason of their own, let it happen.
I don't trust the CIA the FBI or anyone in intelligence any more than i do Dr. Faucci the mass murderer of so many Americans with his shtty shot.

They're lie and deceive. Constantly. Friend or foe.
Eventually we'll find out that many political sympathizers were aware that something was afoot but were lulled into silence under a cascade of lies and reassurances. They might have been told that all of the preparations were for street protests or some form of civil disobedience.
This is just one facet of their operation, but a critical source from the fringe remained quiet. It's like when a bulb goes out on a cheap strand of holiday lights.

Amongst all of the discussion and blame on the CIA, FBI, and all of the USA intelligence agencies . . . it would be very helpful if we had a press that was truthful and insightful to bring to the people a clear picture of the way things are, holding officials feet to the fire, rather than the distorted leftist propaganda machines that they are. That certainly includes you NBC and the workers there!

Our “intelligence” agencies are too busy setting up entrapment schemes for conservatives and attending DEI workshops. We’ve got a proxy war with Russia in Ukraine, we are being invaded on our southern border, now the Middle East is popping again, I wonder what else they’re missing. China might see this as an opportune time to move against Taiwan? Or maybe little Rocket man will try to pop off a nuke? We’re going to have the whole world at war pretty soon. I remember saying when FJB was declared president that the world was in for dark times ahead. But he’s exceeded my wildest nightmares.

When your intel comes from electronic means monitored by 9 to 5 public servants in climate controlled offices thousands of miles away with little or no understanding of the local population, it’s politics, issues, history and when it’s efforts are deliberately focused elsewhere by political motivated department heads, cabinet secretaries, congressmen, insiders and media, you get intelligence failures. We missed Pearl Harbor, the Communist invasion of Korea, Stalin’s atomic bomb, Sputnik, Russian missiles in Cuba, every Mideast war, 911, the Russian special military operation in Ukraine and now this. NOT surprised.

Asleep at the wheel, like Joe. No confidence whatsoever in our security agencies. Pray for America because one day these militants will use the land, waterways, and air. They may have already - look at the north and south borders and to the sky.

we know where those directions came from and it wasn't Mar-A-Lago

I can't speak for Israel, but with the entire US military spending so much of their time on gender pronouns, crossdressing, sex changes, and playing footsie under the conference table, now we know exactly what responsibilities they gave up to allow time for such nonsense.
