The men and women who put themselves in harm’s way to keep America safe deserve to have clean, comfortable, sanitary barracks. That should be the bare minimum our military should be able to promise them.
Instead, according to a new report published Tuesday from the Government Accountability Office, inspections of 12 military installations found squalid hovel-like conditions — something that, according to Military.com, “confirm[s]] complaints made by many service members for many years.”
The report, which ran nearly 100 pages, detailed the grotesque conditions our troops face: mold, sewage, brown water, bedbugs and even squatters.

I cannot understand, unless for purely mercenary purposes, why anybody would choose to serve in the U.S. military at this point in our history.

With all the wokeness in the military, it's surprising that they don't strike or take the the base streets and protest.

I know from experience who will ultimately be blamed and who will have to 'make improvements'. My room leaked when it rained. I was in the 1st floor of a three floor building. It ruined a pair of expensive (to me) speakers.
Security was non-existent, the women on the third floor depended on us to provide protection.
Roaches were rampant. can't get rid of them because they just move next door until the poisons wear off.

So in Full Metal Jacket - cleaning of the head involved a recruit to be on his knees scrubbing the surfaces with someone's toothbrush. Not so much anymore eh? Unmotivated drill instructors, noncommissioned officers and commissioned officers are the norm? Who would allow the conditions to deteriorate as depicted? Something ain't adding up.

Anyone notified that dumb piece of brick called Austin or is he babbling about some 'theory' at some street corner? This would not happen if a real man and officer would be in charge.

This happens every time a Democrat is in the WH. The GOP build up our military; the Dems tear it down.

From a person who has professionally studied the history of the US Army since 1987, and personally lived some of that history since 1971:
So what else is new?
(I have a humorous newspaper article about "The Battle of the Bedbugs" from 1898, and read any officer's wife memoirs for descriptions of being downwind of the enlisted barracks. However, in 1847 the Army did require the sergeants to perform a twice-weekly "linen inspection" - as in underwear, not bed.
And it's not just Army barracks that have always had a problem, the family quarters are up there, too. If any of you experienced WW2 barracks, they had NOTHING on WW1 barracks - which they turned into family housing. They were supposed to last for five years, but were still standing and housing families into the mid-1930s - when Congress finally got embarrassed.)

The guys who do the real fighting get the short end of the stick,
But on the other end, Wikipedia, that source of questionable accuracy, states:
"There are currently 40 active-duty four-star officers in the uniformed services of the United States: 16 in the Army, two in the Marine Corps, seven in the Navy, 11 in the Air Force, one in the Space Force, two in the Coast Guard, and one in the Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. Of the eight federal uniformed services, the NOAA Commissioned Officer Corps is the only service that does not have an established four-star position."
How many did we have at the end of WWII?

Yet we can afford to house illegal alien invaders in $500 per night hotel rooms and provide them with a complete menu of food and services. I hope the current bunch of transvestite military management does not attempt to restore the draft anytime soon.

When the goobermint runs anything, it goes straight to hell. Why waste taxpayer money on our military when it needs to be wasted on illegals?
