Washington DC is now so crime-ravaged

Soaring crime in the nation's capital is leaving residents rattled, with locals driving small distances to avoid walking and others now too fearful to step outside even during the day. Homicides and robberies are up 29 and 67 per cent from the same time period last year, with murders approaching levels not seen in two decades - while other big cities such as New York, Chicago, Philadelphia and Baltimore are seeing declines. Neighboring Baltimore could end the year with under 300 killings for the first time since the riots over Freddie Gray's death in police custody in 2015.

FTA: “Stephanie Heishman, 44, a Northwest Washington event planner, said she now drives the minute five blocks distance for her usual Sunday evening dinner with a friend, after a gunfight outside her Adams Morgan apartment last year, and the murder of three men on her block last month. 'It's so ridiculous,' she said of the driving. 'On the other hand, I don't want to randomly get shot.'” Unless you work for the DNC (think Seth), you needn’t worry.

I have an idea, let's create a city with a 90% black population, 100% black leadership, hobble the police and see how well that works out. If murder rates are indeed dropping in the other cities it can only be that the violent criminals are finally killing each other off. Let's hope that continues. The great defund experiment blunders on. Nice job Libs.

Several years ago, a reporter from a local paper here in Seattle told about her experience while she was in D.C. for a meeting. As she was leaving her hotel the doorman stopped her and asked her where was going. She told him just across the street, he told 'no Ma'am, you take a cab there and get a cab to come back.'

I guess it makes sense. You have the street thugs robbing you if you go outside, and the politicians robbing you from the big buildings. Plus your God given, inalienable, Supreme Court affirmed right to own and carry a gun has been taken away for decades. I notice both kinds of criminals are still allowed to carry.

There were sections of D.C. that no one with any sense would walk around forty or fifty years ago. As for Chicago, Philly, and Baltimore. Maybe they're running out of people to shoot. All the decent targets have been eliminated. Now it's just a matter of time waiting to see who takes the place of the ones who have already been eliminated. I know in Baltimore, once work is over, it's ghost town by dark. My friends and I would normally attend a few baseball games in Baltimore in the past, but not now. One has to park four or five blocks away from the stadium and walk. We decided we didn't want to take the chance this year because once the game is over, you're walking back to your car in the dark with your head on a swivel.

Re #10, they have tried to outlaw guns and self defense but the Supreme Court has forced DC to issue CCW permits and people must be allowed to own and carry guns. The city puts as many impediments as it can in the path of would be legally armed citizens, but they cannot stop it. Total cost is reported about $600, and they delay as much as they can, may take 4 months to run all the hoops. And the city tries their best to make as many prohibited places as possible, and make the laws and limits as vague and confusing as possible. But you CAN be legally armed in DC.

Which Side Are You On? The looming strike by the United Auto Workers is as much a protest against Bidenomics as it is the policies of General Motors, Ford Motor, and Stellantis. More than a decade ago, as U.S. automakers were teetering on the verge of collapse and two in the grip of bankruptcy amid the Great Recession, the unions and the autoworkers they represent made many concessions to keep the Big Three afloat. A big one was the agreement to accept contracts that no longer tied worker pay to inflation. The pressure put on the unions at the time was tremendous. The Obama administration relentlessly pushed for acceptance of its program,
