California Gov. Gavin Newsom hasn't been shy about going after Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis over the past year, and in the process has grown his profile as one of the most recognizable Democrats in the country. While Newsom was thought to be a potential 2024 Democratic primary challenger to President Joe Biden, he poured cold water on those rumors months ago and has been one of the the president's biggest surrogates, holding fundraisers for his political ally and traveling with him throughout the state as they champion the administration's policies. But some of Biden's political advisors are annoyed with Newsom

Comments:

“Jockeying for 2028”? Talk about delusional! And as for disrespect, Kamala Harris has more than earned it.

If Horizontal Harris is thinking that Gruesome Newsom is looking out for her, much less anyone else than himself, she is actually more stupid than we give her credit for. Newsome is what I consider an honest politician. He tells you he's after you and he's right.

Maybe Kamala could arrange to join the debate against Ron DeSantis. That should make it a real comedic affair. She was so great in her former debates. Amazing that she has supporters, and does she really believe she will ever be a legitimate Presidential candidate after the lousy job she has done at VP? Cackling won't get you in the White House as anything but a visitor.

All DeSantis needs to do is take pictures of the streets on Miami, Jacksonville, Tampa, etc and set then next to ones of the feces laden streets in San Francisco, LA, Oakland, etc. Then show the after effects of the stores being raided compared to Miracle Mile in Coral Gables. Let the people decide.

Respect for others is not in Gavin Newsome’s character or lack thereof. Gavin is all about image, greasy hair, hanging out with his wealthy homies. Take a close look at the suffering in California. The crime. Remember the snow storm where several elderly perished because they were snowed in in Big Bear. Gavin was at a wealthy friends home on the beach in Mexico. He’s as cold and corrupt as the current occupant of the White House.

The processing of former President Donald Trump in the Fulton County jail followed a familiar pattern. First came the mugshot, then the merchandise. Both the left and the right immediately started selling mugs and t-shirts featuring the scowling image of Inmate P01135809. Snap, scowl, sell and spin. Our legal and political dialogue has now been reduced to the substance of a Benetton catalogue. Politicians and pundits continue to assure the public that this indictment is not just the criminalization of political speech or election challenges.

Robert L. Peters is a man with many names. "Celtic." "The Big Guy." According to congressional investigators, most citizens know him as "President Joe Biden." Aliases are tricky things. They are sometimes innocent or essential like the code name that the Secret Service gives you as part of your protection like "Celtic." Then there are nicknames that are preferred to your given name. Take "The Big Lebowski." He did not like being called Mr. Lebowski and preferred "Dude" but he was flexible: "I’m The Dude. So, that’s what you call me. You know, that or, uh, His Dudeness, or, uh, Duder, or, you know, El Duderino.

When Congress returns next month, it has little alternative but to launch a long-discussed impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden. For House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), the case for an inquiry came from a most unlikely source: Attorney General Merrick Garland. The debacle in the Hunter Biden investigation has left most objective legal analysts in disbelief, with one CNN analyst calling it an "unholy mess." Even before the collapse of a widely condemned "sweetheart deal" with Hunter, the investigation headed by U.S. Attorney David Weiss was a growing concern for many observers.

Joe Biden in one of his now accustomed angry “get off my grass” moods dared the press to find just one of his policies/objectives that has not worked. Silence followed. Perhaps it was polite to say nothing, given even the media knows almost every enacted Biden policy has failed. Here is a summation of what he should instead apologize for. Biden in late summer 2021 sought a 20th anniversary celebration of 9/11 and the 2001 subsequent invasion of Afghanistan. He wished to be the landmark president that yanked everyone out of Afghanistan after 20 years in country. But the result was the greatest military humiliation of the United States since

The popularity of urban legends is a testament to the will to believe. The desire of people to keep Elvis alive or prove that a Sasquatch could exist furtively in our backyards shows the resilience of fables. Constitutional urban legends often have an even more immediate appeal and tend to arise out of the desperation of divided times. One of the most popular today is that former President Donald Trump can be barred from office, even if he is not convicted in any of the four indictments he faces, under a long-dormant clause of the 14th Amendment.

The advent of a new presidential campaign season brings with it the usual political- and media-class sentiment: no one wants to go back (to whatever one thinks there is to go back to), everyone wants to move forward. The conceit of progress that has gripped the American psyche for well over a century always demands the next click in the ratchet. It is the sort of perennial existential discontent, questing for the next thing, that is superb for, say, settling a frontier. It is much less salutary when the "next thing" is a new frontier in state power or societal overthrow.

President Biden has taken fire this week for reportedly using aliases and "secret" email addresses as vice president in messages to his son Hunter Biden, who had business in Ukraine at the time. Under former President Barack Obama's administration, White House officials defended the use of alternate email addresses. During a 2013 press briefing, the Obama-Biden White House, amid accusations that individuals within the administration had been using "secret" email addresses for correspondence, highlighted its belief that using "alternate email addresses" for high-ranking officials made "eminent sense."

In the United States of America, there are roughly 3,150 counties. Most of them have prosecutors or district attorneys. Each one of these can usually empanel a grand jury. These grand juries can, with rare exceptions, meet in secret to consider indicting anyone at all. There need be no publicity at all, but there usually is. These grand juries can call witnesses and even require Americans to testify for days or even weeks on end on matters that took place years before. The “defendants” in these matters are not allowed to have lawyers, although sometimes they do. They are sometimes kept from their families and colleagues for long periods.

Opposition to Rep. Kevin McCarthy becoming House Majority Leader was palpable on the right at the beginning of 2023. During a drawn-out fight, Rep. Chip Roy and other conservatives held up his promotion to secure a new rules package and guarantees surrounding investigations. Eventually, McCarthy secured the votes after making several concessions, and at that point, it was fair to wipe the slate clean. He deserved a chance to prove himself, and for the most part, he's been a fairly good leader who has kept his promises regarding investigations into the weaponization of government and the Biden family's corruption. Vice President Kamala Harris has "rabbit ears" for criticism, which are a source of frustration in President Biden's West Wing, according to a new book. According to journalist Franklin Foer's forthcoming book "The Last Politician," Harris' purported insecurity about how she was perceived led some colleagues to compare her to large-eared varmints. "Harris possessed what one of her colleagues described as ‘rabbit ears,’" Foer wrote. "Whenever there was a hint of criticism of her — either in the West Wing or in the press — she seemed instantly aware of it."

The number one problem Joe Biden faces going into his re-election bid is the economy. It stinks. A majority of Americans think it stinks. Almost every previous presidential election was based on the voter’s perspective on the economy. Ronald Reagan’s question still haunts all incumbents: “Are you better off today than you were four years ago?” The pandemic and the economic fallout from business closings, supply chain disruptions, and $5.2 trillion in government spending — which led to a painful spike in inflation — have made the Reagan question somewhat irrelevant. The economy has come roaring back to almost where Trump left it. But people’s perspective on the economy is still clouded.
