Millions of Americans are being told to be careful at the beach this Labor Day weekend due to the risk of catching a flesh-eating bacteria.
Vibrio vulnificus, a bacteria that can enter open wounds and cause life-threatening infections, thrives in warm water and has been found on beaches from Florida to New Jersey and even as far north as Alaska.
Doctors told DailyMail.com anyone with an open wound — even a paper cut — should avoid swimming in areas where Vibrio vulnificus has been identified in order to avoid exposure.

I grew up in northern California, and now I live in Nevada. I often notice that items about THE STATES are valid to states that are adjacent to the ATLANTIC OCEAN.
If one checks the Original Article on this, you will not find the Pacific Ocean.

Nuts. I wanted to get out of the house because of the radon, and the gas stove. Now I can't go out for fresh air at the beach.

The sad thing is that, even if this were true, the government has "cried wolf" about a thousand times too many for people to take them seriously anymore!!!!!
I lived in Galveston, TX, many years ago. One year, a minor hurricane was heading to Galveston, and the state and local government officials warned everyone to leave or face disaster. It was a disaster -- on the highways when so many people tried to flee at the same time. But the hurricane was downgraded to a minor tropical storm by the time it landed, and all we got was a little rain, some wind gusts (that did no damage), and some great surfing waves. So the next time a hurricane was headed to Galveston and they demanded that everyone evacuate, hardly anyone did. It turned out to be a much stronger hurricane, and it did some damage. A few people were injured and a couple even died. Since then, the city government has gotten a lot better at evaluating hurricanes and only calling for evacuations when it's certain to be a dangerous storm.
At least they learned their lesson. I doubt the feds ever will!!!!!

If it heads for Delaware beaches and munches on Quid Pro Joe this bacteria will be extinct. They made penicillin out of bread mold. Imagine what powers lurk in Old Yeller.

Flesh eating bacteria is present everywhere. (I guess I'd avoid places where it is known to be present possibly after a big storm, but, I don't even know it that is possible.) Follow Mom's advice : Wash any cuts with soap, beware of punctures and animal bites and, check them for signs of infection. What else can we do?
Stop trying to scare everyone. Do "they" know that water can be dangerous? My gosh, Obama's chef "suffocated" (never said drowned) in 11 inches of water. Fire can burn us? Riding in cars can kill us? People can slip in bathtubs?
Pretty soon rubber glove body suits will be Government Mandated...until some dummy puts the hood on backwards.

Out of an abundance of caution everybody should wear a FACE MASK AT THE BEACH!!
Democrats, these doctors and anyone who have open wounds where their brain was sucked out should find the smallest room in their house and stay in it, face mask on, until this terrible terrible holiday passes.
Heheh.

What we need is a “safe and effective” vaccine for this. Step right up and get your shot before we force you to or we’ll take away your food stamps
