The strike in Hollywood has been grinding on for several months now. And while it gets plenty of media coverage, we’re not hearing much about productive discussions or progress toward a resolution. I have a couple of friends who are guild members and they keep me updated on some of the talks, but nobody seems terribly hopeful, or at least not yet. But while I always feel sympathetic for the people out of work, a thought struck me this week when I was reading one of the latest updates from CNN. This has been going on for roughly 100 days now. Assuming that you’re not one of the striking members

With lots of joy. Bet all these 'celebrities' got a serious reality check when they saw how little we cared and with what contempt we hold them.

I have seen the exact same number of movies since the strike started as I would have seen if the strike never happened. Zero, zilch, nada, none!!!! We used to see one movie a year (usually one of the Marvel movies). But we finally got sick of everything being so woke and preachy and gave up on them several years ago.
My father once told me something that I have always remembered: If you can't make a living doing something, then it is a hobby. If you aren't talented enough to make a living as an actor, writer, musician, or technical person in Holly-weird, find another career. That is harsh, but Holly-weird can only pay people what they pay them as long as people are willing to work for it.

There's 75 - 80 years of content out there. Much can be accessed without too much trouble. I don't think anyone has noticed the strike yet.

Strange is it not...ALL of the TV/Movie industry out on strike, filing for unemployment, and it doesn't make a BLIP on the unemployment rate? Just as 30,000 trucking company folks let go in a single DAY doesn't.

I could care less, there is not much produced in lala land that is worth my time anymore anyway. The thing I hope would happen is the harpies on The View would go on strike, now and forever!

There hasn't been a creative thought coming out of Hollywood for at least 40 years. Everything is a rewrite anyway, why not just watch the originals? The choreographers are the same, they haven't come up with a new move since Brittany Spears was a sweet young thing. Bumping and grinding is hardly dancing but it seems to pass for that with this new generation. Every show is the same and every move is the same and so strike? Who could possible care?

There is so much other stuff to watch that doesn't rely on Hollyweird writers. Sports, with college football season coming soon, reality cop shows like On Patrol Live, animal shows, plus all of my DVDs that I have collected. Also, TCM doesn't require writers and the movies are usually SOOOO much better than anything spit out by Hollyweird these days.
What? Did you expect me to weep into my pillow every night???

The writers' strike caused most of the damage. Without writers, actors are nothing but preening parrots with nothing to say. I'm waiting for California to run out of unemployment funds and these fools will be forced to work in the fast food industry.

Do we really care about anything that Hollywood says or does. They can break off and float out into the ocean for all I care.

I'm doing just fine. I'm watching a lot of DVDs of classic movies and the only series I follow - Only Murders In the Building - is on its third season and so far it's very good. If I have to wait I don't mind. I have several hundred DVDs.

Since it's all reruns during the summer. The strike isn't even noticed. However, come fall when all the new episodes of shows normally would start, the strike will become more noticeable. One can count the number of network shows I watch on one hand and still have a few fingers left over. However, even those shows I watch get on my nerves on occasion. So, if even if they're not there, it's no great loss.

Wake me when there's a strike in something important, like the truckers or the the trash collectors.
