Another Woke Reboot Dies a Horrible Death

We’ve long been critical of Hollywood’s lack of fresh, new ideas and its apparent fascination with rebooting past films or giving us a sequel decades later. Sadly, merely paying homage to the original material is insufficient. Instead, producers opt to incorporate “wokeness,” believing it will be more appealing to modern viewers, but in the process, they end up taking something beloved and turning it into garbage that the masses don’t want to see. The latest example is Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies, the prequel series to the 1978 hit film Grease. I’m not sure who wanted this — it’s bad enough to hear any of the original songs

Comments:

What just took place is erasure. Wow. The dogs aren't having any of the dog chow. Too greasy.

Olivia Newton John must be rolling in her grave. Some movies shouldn’t be tinkered with and Grease is one of them.

Grease was a Classic, a memory of better times in our lives!! So sad they couldn't leave that memory alone and had to put their grimy hands over it and leave THEIR print on a Movie that wasn't theirs in the first place!

Homosexuality and trans insanity have been making themselves radioactive. More and more people are starting to be disgusted by and be unwilling to be associated with anything to do with these topics. In case this isn't clear, ask Anheiser-Busch.

I haven't watched the academy awards in decades but I might be tempted to if they would introduce some new, reality based awards like "Most Hideous Sequel"; "Biggest Box Office Loser of the Year"; "Best Marxist Revision of an Oscar winner Classic"; "Whiniest Director of the Year", etc.

Interesting to read the reviews of the new 'League.." movie from the link to the Hollywood Reporter: it (League) currently boasts an impressive 94 percent rating among critics and 87 percent score with viewers on Rotten Tomatoes. The show also has earned recognition from GLAAD (outstanding new TV series), the Independent Spirit Awards (for supporting actress Gbemisola Ikumelo) and with the NAACP Image Awards (costume design). It was also honored by the Critics Choice Association, earning the women’s committee seal of female empowerment in entertainment, the National Visibility Award from the Human Rights Campaign, and the Voice and Visibility Award from the National Council of La Raza. . And yet it failed to attract an audience. With all those diverse accolades, how could that happen?..

The Academy Movie Museum on the corner of Wilshire and Fairfax is possibly getting the message. The museum has professionally mounted displays of movie making from the earliest years and even has the Balzer collection of pre-cinematic slides and primitive "projectors" for showing them. Old movies like The Godfather and Casablanca along with important letters and screen plays, or portions of them, are fun to look at and read. A couple of rooms are devoted to Black cinema which has an interesting history. Gregory Peck's Oscar for To Kill a Mockingbird can be seen. Modern films...zero. LGBT stuff in the gift shop, ignored by the visitors. I touched the very edge of a huge painting of Mt. Rushmore used as a backdrop in North By Northwest, got a screamed "no." If the museum goes 'woke' the crowds will disappear. They will go down the street to the La Brea tars to look at sexually straight mammoths and saber tooth tigers.

Why remake a "League of their Own", about 1940's baseball? Why not use the same title and make shows/films about womens basketball/soccer? THEY fought to get established, and all of the woke got them Broke. Nowhere near enough people have an interest in them to make the actual Leagues profitable, or watch the games to make televising them profitable...transporting that by "Magic" to the 40's-50's as a costume drama was/is always destined to Fail.

Some of the culprits are "Out on strike" right now..the greats and classics had a Writer(singular) or Writers(small team) One of the reasons for the strike is because producers are balking at Writers Guild demands that a "Room of writers" must be granted contracts for every production, not individual writers based upon some merit but rather a minimum number of warm bodies, hired through their Union Hall. Taylor Sheriden, (who is supporting the strike"Pencil Down"), mentioned that for one of his shows the demand was for a minimum of 40 writers to be hired, on a show HE does ALL of the writing. He has at least 8 shows/films under contract right now, he writes ALL of it. Writing by "Committee" is reminiscent of that old Joke..."A Camel is just a Horse, designed by a Committee". Also reminiscent of the Military APC/Bradley designed that way...which WAS made into a Movie. "Pentagon Wars" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXQ2lO3ieBA

The Condescender-in-Chief is at it again. Just weeks after Barack Obama — the descendent of Africans and white people — dared to criticize Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) — the descendent of actual slaves and a son of the state where the Civil War started — for being optimistic about the state of race in America today, the former president weighed in on what he thinks spurs on “right-wing populism.” In an interview with Christiane Amanpour on CNN, Obama said, “It’s very hard to sustain a democracy when you have such massive concentrations of wealth.” He went on to blather about “ladders of opportunity” and a “stronger safety net” before concluding that

The World Health Organization (WHO), funded primarily by the CCP and Bill Gates tag team, has been very busy getting its so-called “pandemic treaties” into place, which in effect hand over national control of a state’s public health response to unaccountable multinational bureaucrats — whose interests, not unimportantly, are not shared by the populations over which they exercise authority. Relatedly, the WHO also succeeded recently in instituting “vaccine passports” across the European Union. Dovetailing with both of those projects of social control is the organization’s declaration of war on something called an “infodemic.”
