In defense of Trump, Vance targets the

U.S. Sen. J.D. Vance wants the wheels of justice to turn even slower.[Edit] Vance announced Tuesday that he would place a “hold” on Department of Justice nominations to protest what he described as “the DOJ improperly targeting conservatives.”[Snip]Let’s pause for a moment to remember that Trump is no longer “the leader of our great nation,” which is why he’s in trouble for hoarding classified documents. Trump lost the 2020 presidential election, however much he falsely claims that he didn’t.[Snip]When those who have access to government secrets willfully break the laws governing such documents, they are generally charged.

Comments:

The editorial not only accuses Senator Vance and his allies of looking for ways to gum up the works at the Justice Department, but goes so far as to accuse them of ignoring alleged lawbreaking alluding to President Trump having broken the law.

This editorial attempts to categorize President Trump as an ordinary citizen subject to the same laws imposed on ordinary citizens which is not factual. A president of this country has full authority over national security and the classification system; neither Congress nor executive branch employees nor National Archives employees have the authority to override a president’s plenary constitutional power. President Trump removed those documents while he was still President. On the subject of those documents over which great fuss is being made, it would be interesting to have President Trump’s adversaries on both sides of the aisle explain why there wasn’t any problem with the vast number of documents taken by previous presidents for their libraries. Thus far, no plans for a President Trump library have been revealed to possibly preserve 15 boxes of President Trump’s documents. JOHN F. KENNEDY – Seven permanent exhibits. Audio Visual archives contain over 400,000 still photographs taken from 1863 to 1984, over 7.5 million feet (2,300,000 m) of film shot between 1910 and 1983, and 11,000 reels of audio recordings from 1910 to 1985. Oral-History Project today it contains over 1,100 interviews and continues to this day. LYNDON BAINES JOHNSON - 45 million pages of historical documents, including the papers of President Johnson and those of his close associates and others. WILLIAM J. CLINTON - 2 million photographs, 80 million pages of documents, 21 million e-mail messages, and 79,000 artifacts. BARACK OBAMA – Planned Museum / Tens of thousands of Obama's documents were transported to Chicago. But these items were shipped to a federal government facility. In Obama's case, the National Archives took legal ownership of Obama's documents and then began the long process of sorting through the material before the public could request it years later. Some of this material was then turned over to Obama's presidential library, which is the standard legal process. Take note that THE NATIONAL ARCHIVES WAS INVOLVED WITH THE OBAMA DOCUMENTS BUT HAD NO INVOLVEMENT WITH PRESIDENT TRUMP’S DEPARTURE DOCUMENTS FROM the White House. / “Greg Kelly Outlines the ‘Get Trump’ Weaponization Scheme Behind NARA” (June 8, 2023 | Sundance): “...despite the standard process that has been in place for the prior four administrations, the NARA refused to participate in the collection of any documents from the White House during the transition phase following the November 2020 election.” GEORGE H. W. BUSH - More than 44 million pages of personal papers and official documents. GEORGE W. BUSH - 70 million pages of textual materials. Reference Source: Wikipedia Senator Vance and his political allies are not ignoring alleged lawbreaking but are making an effort to make clear there appears to be a two-tiered justice system.

The World Economic Forum (WEF) has admitted in a new report that digital IDs are exclusionary by nature and can facilitate “the identification, surveillance and persecution of individuals or groups.”[Snip]The risk of near-total surveillance and control of entire populations, like in communist China, is in fact a significant danger that critics of digital IDs have repeatedly warned about. This risk is amplified if digital IDs are combined with Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs), as this combination could pave the way for a totalitarian surveillance state.[Snip]The WEF Insight Report also admits that “in some cases, digital ID may weaken democracy and civil society.”

There is a nefarious group that calls itself The 65 Project that has as its goal to intimidate lawyers into not representing Trump or anyone associated with him. They have threatened to file bar charges against any such lawyers.[Snip]There may be other reasons as well for why lawyers are reluctant to defend Trump.[Snip]Good lawyers, however, generally welcome challenges, especially in high-profile cases. This case is different: the threats to the lawyers are greater than at any time since McCarthyism. Nor is the comparison to McCarthyism a stretch.

Whenever a political crisis erupts on Capitol Hill like it did during the (now-former) stalemate over the debt ceiling, a general sense of dread develops on the right over concerns that Republican leaders will fall far short of the mark on upholding conservative principles, with the fear being that they’ll choose instead to talk tough without backing it up when push comes to shove.[Snip]In the case of Sen. If you believe the most ardent defenders of newly indicted former president Donald Trump, there’s a silver bullet hiding in Bill Clinton’s sock drawer. The reference to Clinton’s socks,[Snip]stems from a 13-year-old case in which the right-leaning nonprofit Judicial Watch sought access to 79 audio tape recordings of Clinton interviews conducted by the historian Taylor Branch while Clinton was in office.[Snip]Clinton designated the recordings as personal records, not official presidential records, that were therefore not required to be turned over to the National Archives and Records Administration under the Presidential Records Act.
