New Yorkers were back in masks on Tuesday as thick smoke originating from Canadian wildfires to the north descended on the city.
Pictures showed an orange glow hanging above New York City as the sun set, concealing iconic structures like the Empire State Building and Statue of Liberty.
Air quality levels throughout the city were 'very unhealthy', according to the US government online platform AirNow, which also warned against outdoor activities.Across from Manhattan in the Bronx, Yankees fans watching the evening's baseball described being able to smell the smoke

A number of years ago, when we lived in CT, we had the same conditions with huge wildfires in Canada. You could smell the smoke. We went down to spend the weekend on our boat at the CT shore. That Saturday evening as the sun was setting, we were treated to the most stunning crimson sunset. Our slip was amongst moored white sailboats. The particulates in the air from the Canadian fires cast a gorgeous red glow over everything, the water, us, the boats, intensifying as the sun moved lower in the sky. It was the most dramatic, beautiful sunset we've ever experienced. The fires eventually went out, the smoke disappeared, and all went back to normal. But we have the blessing of the memory of experiencing that stunning vermillion sunset.
This, too, shall pass.

So this is the reason why yesterday the atmosphere here in Upstate NY (near the PA border) was so hazy, a strange creepy color. This morning around 4:30 I took a picture of the moon because it was red/orange, no doubt caused by the Canadian fires.

So where are the pictures and videos of these wildfires? It just seems strange we aren't seeing endless video of firefighters fighting the blaze.
Is the fire area so large that it is being left to burn itself up?

We call that summer time in SE Georgia, Florida and California. It ain't summer if you can't measure the ash accumulation in California.

How many SUVs does it take to produce as much un-healthy air as a wildfire? Or 1 private jet?

DM hysteria about everything is tiresome.
It's smoke from a forest fire. It happens. It's inconvenient sometimes.
And that's about it.

We've been slamming the fundamentalist Muslims for wanting to push the world back to the 7th century. The greenies want to push it back to a point before humans. The internal combustion engine is just a step towards banning fire, altogether. Banning guns? Everything that can plausibly be used as a weapon will come to their ban-fest, even rocks and sticks. The wheel, you say? They'll find some pretext for banning even that...
