Before we get to reports from the war front, I’ll quickly reference the point that Alex Mercouris made this morning that sets out what this futile Ukrainian offensive is really all about. Mercouris cites a WaPo article (snip) with a bit of happy talk about the wonderful offensive, but the subtext is that the US is scrambling to use this to put a “frozen conflict” in place. A “frozen conflict”, of course, would mark an eastward advance of NATO. By contrast, in the last few days Russian spokesmen close to Putin have begun to openly speak of regime change in Kiev and even full annexation of all of Ukraine.
The U.S. State Department on Tuesday issued a travel advisory for U.S. citizens traveling to the Dominican Republic due to a recent increase in sexual assaults and violent crime.
A yellow-colored, level two advisory was issued for travelers going to the Caribbean tourist hotspot that they should “exercise increased caution,” according to the bulletin.
“Violent crime, including armed robbery, homicide and sexual assault is a concern throughout the Dominican Republic,” said the State Department in its advisory. “The wide availability of weapons, the use and trade of illicit drugs, and a weak criminal justice system contribute to the high level of criminality on the broader scale.”

Over the weekend, Jim Hoft, the founder of Gateway Pundit, a popular conservative web site, used the phrase “assigned male at birth” in a story about a 17-year-old boy pretending to be a girl who then beat the hell out of a real girl in the girls’ room at school.
Oh come on. Stop it. The phrase is loaded communist doubletalk that undermines a belief in God, rationalizes abortion and accepts the very concept that a man can will himself into being a woman. I try not to speak stupid lies and try to speak the truth. (Pats himself on the back.)

Joseph Komrosky’s efforts were successful, and the material was removed from the district’s social studies curriculum last month.
Then, Gov. Gavin Newsom lambasted Komrosky as “ignorant” for his “offensive” comments regarding Milk.“This isn’t Texas or Florida,” Newsom tweeted on Saturday. “In the Golden State, our kids have the freedom to learn. Congrats Mr. Komrosky you have our attention. Stay tuned.”
Now, Komrosky has fired back at Newsom.

They may be right about the fiscal ADHD on Capitol Hill, however, let’s make sure we are keeping track of the right discussion. It is true that both the growing deficit and long-term stability of Social Security are valid concerns that should draw the attention of Americans.
