The idea that polluters should pay reparations for climate change is gaining steam among advocates. Some environmentalists and academics argue the companies or states that are most significantly contributing to the climate crisis should be made to compensate the people bearing the brunt of its impacts. Advocates have been calling for such reparations for years, especially since evidence emerged that fossil fuel companies were aware of the impact of carbon emissions. But the idea is now more practically achievable due to scientific advances, said Adrien Salazar, policy director at the nonprofit Grassroots Global Justice. He pointed to the increased sophistication

Stupidity, mental issues, deranged -- are just some of the words that describe the irrational climate activists who want to get rid or damage the oil industry

Stop. The. Insanity.
But while we're on the subject, how about reparations for having corn syrup added to our food in the '70's. It's even in toothpaste.

This is classic. The climate hysterics expect big oil to pay in advance for climate tragedies that their hyperbolic models say are yet to come, even though there is no definitive link between carbon emissions and weather events that have occurred throughout human history.

These idiots HATE capitalism. Understood. They need to surrender their cellphones, Ipads, Internet service, Uber rides, Latte, tofu, shoes, coats, surf boards, Whole Food stores, TP, dog food, tampons, condums, hair dye, tat parlors, etc., etc., into infinity. If they despise Whitey as much as they claim, they are FREE to return to their AFRICAN homeland. No one will inhibit their exit. I have NEVER heard of mistreated people sneaking OUT of America on a rickety boat in the middle of the night. I have about HAD IT with these idiots. WHITE LIVES MATTER, and I am, by God, about to start preaching it.

These self righteous lefties seem to know how to spend other people's money. How about some real science, not consensus, to back up the accusations?

I remember reading about the effects of higher levels of CO2 in the late 70's or early 80's. Research proved that higher levels of CO2, about 3 to 4 times today's level, dramatically increased plant growth and food production.
The idiots and greedy thieves demanding climate reparations have already received tremendous benefits in the form of an abundant food supply and affordable grocery prices. They have to look no further than todays skyrocketing food prices to see the "benefits" of their "modern" so-called science.

Descendants of slaveholders should receive reparations from the gov for taking of private property. Sunlovers she get reparations from the jet plane industry for high altitude contrails that diminish the sunlight. Every traffic incident, every motorcade that causes a jam should unleash reparations for the inconvenience of being blocked. All books and movies that are not perfectly balanced across 157 genres, 179 national origins, etc need to be burned. This will continue until nothing is left

Technically, the Sun should pay since it is the biggest influence on the climate. The earth's tendency to wobble is next in line.

Have someone explain to these people what New York City was like before the automobile. Even with a fraction of today's population, the people were ankle deep in horse puckey and disease and flies were rampant.
In the 80s, I stopped at a local sawmill to order some wood. they had an article pasted to the counter with details of the standing timber in the country over the previous 100 years. We had twice as much standing timber as the country had in 1900. Thank gas and coal.
Of course, to grow enough corn to meet ethanol standards, a lot of trees had to be chopped down. Further, that land was 'marginal' for agriculture meaning more fertilizers than usual had to be used. The maximum size of the Gulf of Mexico dead zone increased by 38%. Of course, that mean the left stopped reporting that. But, if ethanol did that, I ask you.... shouldn't THEY pay reparations????

I think the Old Fossil Bidet should pay for all the fossil fuel he uses. And why did he put 100,000,000 barrels of oil from the strategic reserve (which is no longer a reserve or strategic) into the market place for burning? He’s the bad guy. He uses more than anyone else in the world.

I demand Reparations from the Urban Thugs!
You know, the ones that casually steal, assault people, and generally tear the place down.
What is the price they should pay, for turning most big American cities into manure pits?
$Trillion$, I figure.

They can do their part by giving up public transportation, their cars, electricity, paint and all plastic items. And since food is brought in trucks that use fossil fuels they need to grow their own food using hand tools, And since most medical treatments involve plastics in some measure, including prescription bottles and syringes, they will need to go to a witch doctor to be treated when they become ill from sun stroke while weeding their turnips.

Along the lines of what #31 said.....
Do not neglect that most Hand Tools- shovel, garden hoes, garden rakes. have Steel blades,
Steel.... Mined by Machines, transported by Trucks and Railroads, made into Iron, then refined into Steel using Coal and Furnace Coke, then processed by more Machines in Factories. All that Steel and Energy being used!
These Climate Freaks, to be Pure to The Cause, should use Wood (carved using sharp Stones) or STONE tools!
