Former MSNBC host Keith Olbermann called for President Joe Biden on Tuesday to “kick Joe Manchin’s ass” for getting approval of a natural gas pipeline for West Virginia included in the debt ceiling agreement.

These settlers must have had some of the same characteristics as the white settlers; it takes a certain kind of adventurous person to move into an unsettled place and create a civilization there. Blacks are only one percent of the population, and they have a stake in the larger society. They are entrepreneurial so not inclined to rely on the government. This situation couldn't be exactly duplicated in other states, but it makes a good model for disproving some cliches about blacks (and perhaps supporting some others).
