Payton McNabb, a North Carolina high school volleyball player, is calling for a ban on transgender athletes after one spiked a ball into her face last fall allegedly causing a concussion and long-term physical and mental injuries.
The transgender athlete was able to compete on a girls’ team at Hiwassee Dam High School in Murphy, NC, because of a policy put in place by the state’s high school athletic association.
McNabb spoke at a press conference on Wednesday, calling on state legislators to pass the Fairness in Women’s Sports Act, HB 574, that would ban biological males from competing on girls’ sports teams. [Video]

Last Monday, 25-year-old Connor Sturgeon walked into his former workplace, Old National Bank, in downtown Louisville, KY, armed with an AR-15-style modern sporting weapon and opened fire. [Tweet]
By the time Sturgeon was fatally wounded, about 12 minutes after he opened fire and four minutes after police arrived, four bank employees — Joshua Barrick, 40, Deana Eckert, 57, Tommy Elliott, 63, Juliana Farmer, 57, and James Tutt, 64 — were dead, and eight were wounded, including 26-year-old rookie Louisville Police Department Officer Nickolas Wilt who is still in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the head.
This week, I’ve been writing about Wednesday’s epic meeting of the new Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (CFTOD). On Wednesday, Florida lawmakers passed a bill supported by Governor Ron DeSantis, which will allow for the death penalty to be imposed on individuals convicted of sexually abusing children.
HB 1297, otherwise known as the Capital Sexual Battery law, provides the death penalty for certain child sexual offenders. Separate death penalty proceedings are required, with a jury making findings and recommendations on whether the defendant should be sentenced to life imprisonment without parole or to death.

A third suspect was arrested in connection to the mass shooting at an Alabama Sweet 16 that left four people dead and 28 injured.

However, it’s also immensely disappointing, because after years and years of Democratic presidential debates being dreary displays of candidates trying to out-socialist one another, 2024 Democratic primary debates would have actually had something to offer.
