Germans Have Given Up On “Green” Energy

Not the German government, which continues on a collision course with reality. But Germans have figured out that the green dream is turning into a nightmare. This report is on a survey of Germans done by forsa: An overwhelming majority of the German population is of the opinion that a successful energy transition is not realistic. According to a Forsa survey, 88 percent of respondents share this view. 88 percent! That is stunning.

Comments:

Unfortunately, too many Americans are still buying into this fairy tale story which is actually a scam.

There's nothing wrong with adding a little solar or wind as a side show in places with lots of sun or high winds. But having either as primary energy is crazy and trying them in more northern or less windy regions is ridiculous. Having a few solar panels and a small battery can keep your house going through short outages and save everything in your fridge/freezer if your local power isn't stable. I've lost thousands in food over the years before I got some solar in place.

I think the coal industry underestimated the power of 'green' advocates and the emotions of the general public. Coal is very efficient at generating heat. The ash from power plants is actually a kind of rare earth ore. The exhaust gases should be viewed as a resource, Any non CO2 gases can be stripped out and the CO2, in concentrated form at a specific site, has value. The usual economics of a coal fired power plant did not warrant any of this, but IF the industry had pursued a carbon negative loop 20 years ago, the world would be much more secure. Greenhouses burn propane to generate CO2 for enhanced plant growth. The company CleanO2 uses CO2 to make soap. Other companies see it as a useful, profitable, gas. Not a problem. Corsa and any other coal company still in business really ought to build a demonstration, scalable plant to show the world how easily this can be done. Corsa has about $3 billion in coal rights in southwestern PA that they may never be able to turn into profits. Our government and a poorly educated public are on the verge of shutting them down. PA just closed a coal power plant near Indiana, PA for mush worse power options.

And what are they doing to meet their future energy needs? Building coal plants galore. Only an idiot could not see this . Hello Joe, Xi's dimwitted Pekinese.

Reply #1 is exactly correct, as anyone with common sense can see. Every attempt to get “free” energy has required huge subsidy, yet remains unstable and unreliable. There is no more optimistic plan in sight. Those who deny it are either foolish, or uninformed. Nuclear energy is everywhere, unlimited, and can be made safe and cheap. This will happen, assuming that our “leaders” don’t destroy us with its unsafe and totally destructive potential.

Come to their senses is the expression I would use. 21st century technology when applied to coal/gas and nuclear results in far cleaner, cheaper and safer output than the 1950s stuff the Greenies are using as a foil. This is the smart way to go until fission energy makes all this (including old solar panels and the Don Quixote contraptions of windmills) completely redundant. Studies are already showing the world population is peaking This is good economics. Which means it is bad politics!

CO2 is necessary for life on earth. The Greenies know it - at least the grownups. But the green movement's real purpose is to create a worldwide crisis that will justify or even mandate world government. 'Climate Change' is a convenient vehicle for them to achieve that goal.

I have known for many years that the global warming scare is a hoax. I remember when the "nuclear winter" scare was used to push through legislation that eventually forced the addition of very expensive baghouses onto coal power plants to remove the particulate emissions. The green crowd thought they could force the shutdown of power plants, but engineers found a solution to make coal plants much cleaner. Here is a good discussion of the truth: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-gHWcrCK7w

When are the Greenness going to understand what an environmental disaster "green" energy is going to be for both the land and wildlife? It will take millions of acres to be cleared for solar and wind farms. We already know how the earth is being raped for the minerals to make batteries, not to mention the slave labor being used. Ford Motor (along with a Chinese partner) will be clearing over 900 acres in Michigan to build an electric battery company. Our young people have had it drummed into their heads that wind and solar are the way to go. They have no idea of the environmental cost.

It´s no wonder the Germans are feeling insecure about their energy supply, given their cold climate and their huge industrial base, especially after Joe Biden boasted about blowing up the Nordstream pipeline. That would be an act of war against both Germany and Russia, but "Good Ol´Joe" has a reckless streak that just won´t quit.

It took nature millions of years to create the energy (oil, gas, coal, nuclear) that "we" are now using for all things that require energy. The Greenies think that "man" can create enough energy, in a matter of a few years, that nature took millions of years. Naive and foolish thinking will cause untold damage to the world environment that cannot be repaired.

San Diego federal judge has issued a ruling that blocks four provisions of California's strict handgun law, becoming the second U.S. district judge within two weeks to rule that parts of the state's Unsafe Handgun Act likely violate the Second Amendment. udge Dana Sabraw's ruling in the San Diego case could potentially open the door for Californians to purchase hundreds of types of semiautomatic pistols that state officials currently deem "unsafe" and thus do not include on a roster of approved handguns. But the judge issued a stay on his decision, giving Attorney General Rob Bonta time to appeal the ruling.

The hideous laws designed to violate almost all parts of the Bill of Rights are finally being struck down as unconstitutional. The Supreme Court of the State of New York, the state's second highest court, recently ruled the state's so-called "red flag" law unconstitutional. These unconstitutional gun confiscation schemes go by different designations, but they are colloquially known as red flag laws. The gun-grabbing ghouls of the far left are creative in describing their operation. Anyone supportive of individual liberty and our commonsense civil rights has been horrified at how these authoritarian abominations violate almost all aspects of the Bill of Rights.

Natural immunity to disease is, or at least was, a well-known concept in medicine. By disease, I mean viral infections. One can’t develop natural immunity to diseases like diabetes or heart failure. Many of us remember “chicken pox parties” where when one kid was infectious, he or she was invited over to play with your kids, so they all got infected and then they did not have to worry about getting chicken pox again, due to natural immunity. The CDC defines it as follows: “Natural immunity is acquired from exposure to the disease organism through infection with the actual disease.”

I argue here, against a small but vocal conservative faction, that we should continue this aid. There has been plenty of unhelpful hyperbole on both sides of the debate. Prominent pro-Ukrainers have attempted to equate opposition to Ukrainian aid as opposition to democracy itself. Michael Beschloss, NBC’s resident Rent-A-Zinn, referencing members of Congress who didn’t applaud Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s recent speech, and in Stalinist fashion, tweeted “we need to know from them exactly why.”

The law that redefined death in 1981, referred to as the Uniform Determination of Death Act (UDDA), is being revised. The UDDA states that death by neurologic criteria must consist of "irreversible cessation of all functions of the entire brain, including the brainstem." However, in actual practice, doctors examine only the brainstem. The result is that people are being declared dead even though some still have detectable brainwaves, and others still have a part of the brain that functions, the hypothalamus.
