A rant about electronics or electric ranges and their inferiority to gas: Electric burners have a duty cycle. Duty cycle is the ratio of time ON to time OFF. The duty cycle is 100% when you turn the burner to maximum. But that is way too hot for most things. The electric range does not reduce the current to a burner in a linear fashion. It merely modulates a burner ON and OFF at some duty cycle rate to achieve a lower average temperature. The problem is for almost all ranges that modulation is way too slow. Let me give you an exaggerated example to start with. Let's say I want a very low average temperature. So I turn the burner on full for 2 hours. And then leave it off for the rest of the day. That is an average of 8% of the full power with a duty cycle rate of 24 hours. For most of the day the burner just sits there cold. But for 2 hours it is at full power cremating the food! But the average is 8%. I think you can see that is not a suitable way to achieve a low temperature cooking rate. What if we speed it up the duty cycle a bit. Full power for 4 seconds and zero power for 44 seconds. Again an average of about 8%. But again the food will start to burn during that 4 seconds. It certainly won't cook gently. In fact for most electric ranges I have worked with, that duty cycle rate is close to what they are doing. A better solution is a duty cycle of about 1 second. Full power for 1/10 of a second and then off for the other 9/10's of a second. Now that would achieve suitable low temperature simmering. I have never found an electric range that does that. But with gas I can adjust the flame to a low level and get exactly a simmer. Induction cook tops are no better. Duty cycle rates of 10 seconds make them pretty much useless unless you plan to use them only at full power all the time where duty cycle does not matter because it's always at 100%. Microwave ovens have similar slow duty cycle problems. You can't melt butter on a low setting without the butter splattering. UNLESS you have a microwave oven that has Inverter technology where they achieve the lower powers with very fast duty cycles. If your microwave is not inverter then throw it away and replace it with inverter. On power 3(where 10 is max) a bowl of butter will gently melt without exploding.

It should NOT be necessary to write a bill such as this. The perverts in D.C. have gone cray cray with their power. I was reading they even have Fat Stacy on the committee to decide if gas stoves should go. There is always room somewhere for a democrat to have a job.

Gas stoves emit EXACTLY what human beings emit when we breathe. Water vapor and carbon dioxide. And like human breathe, it is normally 100% harmless in a home. HARMLESS. Neither water vapor or CO2 are harmful in normal amounts. Yes, you can drown in enough water, and if you are put in a sealed box, eventually CO2 can reach toxic levels. Both are impossible from a gas stove.....or breathing, unless you do it in a perfectly sealed box.
