Former President Donald Trump experienced yet another boost this week amid rumors of a looming arrest, the latest Morning Consult survey, released Tuesday, found.
This week’s Morning Consult survey demonstrates gains for the former president, as he now has 54 percent support — up from 52 percent recorded last week. Meanwhile, his closest potential competitor, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, lost two points, going from 28 percent to 26 percent. In other words, Trump’s lead jumped from +24 to +28 in the last week:

DeSantis didn’t help himself about bringing up his money to a porn star and his supposed naïveté in how he would deal with it. Pure as the driven snow, he wants us to believe. My dislike for him shot up after that.

DeSantis for President -- in 2028 (maybe). Bragg knows he stepped in it and is probably looking for an excuse to back away. Maybe he can shift the public's attention by doing something new and unexpected -- like prosecuting actual criminals in NYC.

I was thinking Trump was going to back out later this year in favor of DeSantis. The gov. could not shut up and wait for his moment of glory.

Honestly, it's disappointing to come to this fine forum and see people getting suckered and whipsawed by the incessant push polls of the MSM. Is it really that hard to see that they're trying to create dissension and wedge issues against BOTH of the main Republican candidates? Every dang day there's yet another tidbit of what one said or the other said AND an immediate poll about how their numbers look each friggin day.
Don't fall for it. We have two potentially great candidates and I'll vote for whichever one becomes the eventual candidate.

Another reminder that Trump hasn't learned the Art of the Political Deal since he's come into politics. Instead of rallying people around him, he creates chaos. Learning to shut his mouth would go a long way to building a voter base. Name calling and bad mouthing rivals seems to come back to haunt him. If he had built bridges with the Bushes and Cheneys (he wouldn't have to take their advice, just show them a little respect), he could have avoided a lot of contention during his presidency and afterwards.

We talk about double standards incessantly as if its just a democrat thing. But its also a republican thing too.
Trump attacks a fellow republican, drawing first blood. The attacks and name calling have continued since before the mid-term election. Meanwhile, the target has not responded and gas remained largely silent in the face of repeated attacks. And the yesterday, speaks up IN DEFENSE of Trump, but its not good enough for some people. DeSantis is done, I'll never vote for him, he's part of the establishment, he's a rino. Etc, etc.
Trump can say anything he wants, whenever he wants, and his target isn't allowed to respond. And even that's not enough. After silently sitting through the name calling, belittling and name calling, that person must give his/her full throated support to Trump, no matter what.
Cancel culture isn't just a liberal tactic.

Would someone explain to ignorant me exactly what DeSantis should say and do that would satisfy those who are attacking him for not sufficiently supporting him in the ridiculous case in New York? As a governor, what effect can he possibly have? Are any other governors or potential Republican nominees being pressured to aid Trump? On a personal level, after the silly crap Trump has thrown his way, perhaps attacking a potential rival wasn't the smartest thing Trump could have done. Should DeSantis put a "kick me" sign on his back?

#6, my humble opinion is that we have had way too much compromising.
Truth demands full commitment & being willing to stand up for it. You are either for it or against it.
There can be no pretense of compromising truth to reach across the aisle away from it in an attempt to build trustworthy alliances. The compromise must come toward truth, not away from it.
Washington D.C. & the state of our union is all the evidence needed that such compromises, with those who have no regard for the truth, lead first to a pretense of truth & then to full abandonment of it.
Trump takes a lot of slings and arrows for not fitting the ideal of other imperfect humans. I support Trump because he isn’t a pretender. He says what he will do & he does his best to do it. He doesn’t pretend to be perfect - he has simply proven that he recognizes that America was founded on precepts and principles from that Who & which is perfect; that she is in danger of losing that foundational American Ideal; and, he has suffered all kinds of hell while fighting to preserve it, & refusing to compromise it despite a few human mistakes along the way. He has learned from the important mistakes that affect the country. That’s all we can ask of any human, & it is much more than we got for a long time before he stepped onto the scene.
We can’t afford to compromise the truth. Truth means freedom.
I pray that we return - with no pretense - to respect for that One, and His Book which must be our guide, even if we don’t represent them perfectly.
