The Chevrolet Camaro, for decades the dream car of many teenage American males, is going out of production.
General Motors, which sells the brawny muscle car, said Wednesday it will stop making the current generation early next year.
The future of the car, which is raced on NASCAR and other circuits, is a bit murky. GM says another generation may be in the works.'While we are not announcing an immediate successor today, rest assured, this is not the end of Camaro's story,'

The government has decided that you should NOT have a car at all, and especially not one that you like and which is fun to drive.
Fun is forbidden. Cars are slowing being outlawed, drip, drip, drip. Desirable features "not longer available" and unwanted "features" now mandatory....soon enough, that gasoline engine will be illegal, in all probability - regardless of how much you might want a gas car and despise a nearly useless electric golf cart.
THEY decide what you are permitted to buy, in a country that once was "the land of the free".
No more freedom, the Dems have decided in conjunction with the World Economic Forum. Freedom is being phased out.

FTA: traditional gas-powered muscle cars are starting to be phased out due to strict government fuel economy regulations, concerns about climate change and an accelerating shift toward electric vehicles.
Consumer demand seems to be absent from their thought process. A large majority of car buyers will still want gas powered vehicles.

This writer is an idiot. As much as I love my GT500, Mustang is not the only gas-powered muscle car. Dodge just announced a 1050 HP beast of the Challenger.

They are only temporarily stopping production. The electric vehicle mandate by the government its taking their resources and with gas prices rising I’m sure it’s hurt sales. The used Camaro market will be very hot.

Dodge has announced 2023 will be the Last year for Challenger and Charger! Personally, I love the Chevy Camaro. It's almost as great as my 2001 Corvette was. Those were the Days!

Millennials' writing about cars is like someone in their 70's writing about the latest Hip Hop artist. Neither has any idea what their talking about or even cares to find out.

$75,000+ to be able to drive most places at 70 MPH? 600+ HP to get the vehicle up to cruising speed?
Most of the Camaros, Mustangs, Dodge whatevers and their foreign equivalents never touch the race course or drag strip.
You will see them mixed with the Honda Civics, SUVs and Toyotas going the same speed on the X-way. The only thing the "muscle" cars "say" is "mine is bigger than yours" and if it has really big tires, "my pair are really large too".

Re #3. Chrysler has stopped making the high end performance version, or will very soon. They announced that the Challengers will be EVs.
Perhaps the gas version is available for a few more months, but not for long.

A woke GM moving its production to electric glorified golf carts. That's the ticket I can't wait to hear about a battery powered Corvette or Utility truck that can only travel 150 miles before charging. Way to go GM it was nice knowing you, sell out.

I don't know why this thread has turned into opinions on cars in general and muscle cars in particular. The EV mandates that are on the books and will be coming, will kill one of our last American industries.
There this: 'Ford Says It Will Lose $3 Billion on EVs This Year, but Sales Are Rising
https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a43399188/ford-ev-sales-to-lose-3-billion/
We are being told that the public is clamoring for their EVs. If so, why does the government have to FORCE their manufacture?

Camaro is forever an also-ran, coming to market for the 1967 model year after Mustang came out as a mid-year 1964. Chevy dropped the Camaro already and brought it back, so dropping it again isn't a big surprise. Ford has stuck with the Mustang continuously for nearly 60 years and it's due for a refresh next year. You can get a 2023 GT with a 450 horsepower GAS V-8 and a 6-speed manual transmission for just under $40K including D&H, a performance bargain if there ever was one. I will take mine in Eruption Green, please. It will look nice next to my '66 Mustang convertible (that one is Nightmist Blue). The Corvette, by the way, is not really a muscle car, more of a real sports car. There is a difference.

#7 - The relationship between GM (USA) and China's SAIC Motor Corp. is complicated. The two are closely allied and intertwined with various joint ventures. Do the Chinese "own" GM? Well, depends on how one looks at it. They're pretty damned influential in many ways.

As someone mentioned, what about the Corvette?
Somewhere, I hear a BS bell going off.
The auto industry is at a crossroads. Will people continue to buy gas powered vehicles, EVs, or own none at all? Look at the price of gasoline. What will EVs be like in ten years or 20 years? Which will be most cost effective. Or will neither be cost effective. What does our government have up its sleeve?
