Federal Judge Blocks Enforcement of California
Handgun Regulation

Original Article

A federal judge on Monday blocked enforcement of a decades-old California law that requires newly developed handguns to have particular safety features, ruling the regulation overly stringent and a violation of the Second Amendment. California’s Unsafe Handgun Act, enacted in 2001, aims to prevent accidental discharges through various safety standards. The legislation mandates that certain handguns have a chamber-load indicator and a magazine-disconnect mechanism that prevents a handgun from being fired if the magazine is not fully inserted. To assist with gun-crime investigations, the firearms also must have a microstamping mechanism, which allows the transfer of microscopic imprints of the handgun’s make, model, and serial number onto shell casings

Good news. "...shall not infringe" isn't really that difficult to grasp, unless you are trying very hard to not grasp it. This California law is a clear infringement, like dozens and dozens of other unconstitutional "gun laws".

This is what happens when liberals make laws on a subjects they no nothing about. There is no such thing as an 'accidental discharge.' There is only one way a gun if discharged and that's by pulling the trigger. PERIOD.

Re #5, the Bruen case changed the basis for federal judges to judge the constitutionality of all 2nd Amendment cases. This requirement from the SCOTUS ruling will, when a case comes up for judgement, require the striking down of many, many gun laws that have used different "intermediate scrutiny" standards in the past. We will be seeing many existing gun laws being struck down, based on guidance from Bruen.

If you were one of those people hoping that the presidential primary season would hold off a few more months, I regret to inform you that the gloves are good and fully off. Donald Trump has been savaging Ron DeSantis (up to and including suggesting he’s a pedophile) for months, but up to this point, the Florida governor had held his fire. That is no more after DeSantis did an interview with Fox Nation in which he finally responded to some of Trump’s jabs. It’s only March, so I’m going to do my best to not get in the weeds yet. There will be a time for choosing eventually, but for now,

You’ve likely seen the videos by now: People — husks of people, really — slumped over, in a stupor, looking for all the world like zombies. Scenes like those shown in this video from WPIX in New York: We’ve seen the stories of massive amounts of fentanyl seized at our porous southern border… and the alarming uptick in overdose rates. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) held a press conference with Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) in early March to announce his intention to introduce legislation that would designate Mexican drug cartels as “Foreign Terrorist Organizations,” setting the stage for the use of U.S. military force to combat them, noting:

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that cases of a deadly fungus tripled in the United States from 2019 to 2021. The fungus, Candida aurist, has caused illness and death since it was first detected in the United States. The CDC rates it as an “urgent threat”, the highest level of concern. There are three reasons the CDC has rated the fungus with its highest level of concern- it is multidrug-resistant, it spreads easily in healthcare facilities, and it can cause severe, invasive infections with high mortality rates. The authors of the CDC report wrote that the fungus “has continued to cause illness and death

Prosecutors in the special counsel's office have presented compelling preliminary evidence that former President Donald Trump knowingly and deliberately misled his own attorneys about his retention of classified materials after leaving office, a former top federal judge wrote Friday in a sealed filing, according to sources who described its contents to ABC News. U.S. Judge Beryl Howell, who on Friday stepped down as the D.C. district court's chief judge, wrote last week that prosecutors in special counsel Jack Smith's office had made a "prima facie showing that the former president had committed criminal violations," according to the sources, and that attorney-client privileges

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has finally taken the gloves off and launched a blistering attack on his former mentor President Donald Trump. In an exclusive wide-ranging interview with me airing on Fox Nation’s “Piers Morgan Uncensored” on Thursday, he said “stay tuned” about his widely expected announcement that he’s running for president and declared: I have what it takes to be president and I can beat Biden. But it’s what he said about Trump that will ignite a firestorm in the Republican Party. For months, DeSantis has said nothing as Trump’s escalated his verbal attacks on him, branding his ex-protégé “Ron DeSanctimonious” and “Meatball Ron.” On Monday, Trump went nuts

Governor Ron DeSantis (R., Fl.) told Piers Morgan in an interview that he believes he can prevail over Donald Trump and lead the Republican Party to victory in the 2024 presidential election over President Joe Biden. “I can win [the] presidency,” the Florida governor told Piers Morgan in an exclusive interview that aired Tuesday afternoon. Although DeSantis alluded to challenging Trump for the Republican presidential nomination, the governor explained that much of his attention will be geared towards President Biden. “If I were to run, I’m running against Biden,” DeSantis said. “Ultimately you know the guy I’m gonna focus on is Biden because I think he’s failed

As Tuesday winds down, it’s becoming clear that the arrest of Donald Trump isn’t going to happen as originally proclaimed on the former president’s Truth Social feed. A new exclusive from The Daily Mail is providing fresh details. According to the report, Trump is expected to be indicted on Wednesday after a final witness appears before the grand jury. The Daily Mail makes it sound definitive in its headline, but the fact that there’s still outstanding testimony to present gives me pause. Donald Trump will likely be indicted on Wednesday but won’t appear before a judge in New York until next week, DailyMail.com has learned.

Writer David Goldman, who writes as the brilliant "Spengler" at Asia Times, foresees an ending of sorts to the Ukraine conflict, based on the West's inability to supply the resources to keep an extended war coming. In his latest Asia Times piece, he noted the private thinking going on of people who make up the foreign policy community: A gloomy assessment of Ukraine’s prospects for victory against Russia emerged from a recent private gathering of former top US soldiers, intelligence officials and scholars with resumes reaching from the Reagan to the Trump administrations. Short of trained personnel and ammunition, one speaker argued, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky might consider a Chinese peace plan,

As a non-coffee drinker in a coffee-obsessed world, I’m pleased to know that at least in this case, I’m not a genetically-coded “inherently racist” white supremacist, by virtue of my whiteness. I am a “cis” white male, though, so I do qualify as “all of the above” in every other ridiculous left-wing sense, so there’s that. Anyway, a recent idiotic article posted on Afru.com makes the argument that drinking coffee perpetuates white supremacy. Yeah. The ridiculous piece suggests that because coffee was “created by black people,” if you enjoy drinking the stuff, you’re “helping an industry built on racism.”
