Because climate change, social impacts and ongoing lawsuits have significant financial repercussions, administration officials argue that the investment limits are courting possible disaster. Republicans in Congress who pushed to overturn the Labor Department's actions say ESG investments provide sizable funding to 'woke' political agendas, such as a drive against climate change, rather than on earning the best returns for savers.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom is reportedly considering appointing Oprah Winfrey to the Senate should Dianne Feinstein retire early.
Newsom has promised to appoint a black woman to the seat, and Oprah is one among a list of contenders he's considering, according to the Associated Press.
