Biden's FAA Nominee Can't Answer a Single
Question About Aviation

Original Article

Phil Washington, President Joe Biden's nominee to serve as administrator of the FAA, continues to face questions about his qualifications to serve in the role, and his testimony before Congress isn't dispelling doubts about his ability to run America's civil aviation system and keep its citizens safe when they fly. Already, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) has raised concerns about Washington's experience and resume, suggesting President Biden is "playing politics" rather than prioritizing the safety and efficiency of America's air transportation system. Washington's previous gigs have also seen accusations of wasteful spending and mismanagement of resources, as Townhall reported previously. And, while he served honorably in the military,

From another article: "Cruz discounted Washington’s job running the Denver airport, telling the nominee, “You are in charge of coffee shops, clothing stores and newsstands,” but not pilots, aircraft mechanics or air traffic controllers." Cruz nailed it.

It does not matter what a Biden nominee knows, if the nominee fits with the minority group categories of Democrat identity politics. I noticed tonight in a TV segment that the gentleman who Biden nominated is a Black man. So that tells the story!

So, if he gets confirmed, put him in charge of Air Force One. If anyone thinks that’s a horrible thing to say, then they must not believe he’s qualified.

Why should air traffic controllers who sit behind desks have to know anything about flight patterns at airports, as the pilots who actually fly aircraft should be qualified to take care of themselves and their aircraft? That an example of the Biden way of requiring “equity” that over 80 million Americans are said to have voted for.

These are questions that could be answered by most people with less than an hour of study of aeronautics and the history of American aviation. In two hours a person could learn enough to lecture senators about different types of airplanes to include size, engines and maintenance requirements with sidebars about drones and the latest developments in electric powered aircraft. Mitch McConnell Stays Silent on Trump Indictment 0 replies

After Tuesday's arraignment of former President Trump, Republicans rushed to defend him against the political persecution of Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg. However, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and his top allies stayed silent. McConnell, who reportedly hasn't spoken to Trump since December 2020, refrained from making any statement responding to Trump pleading not guilty to 34 felony counts. In fact, the Republican has not said anything regarding the indictment of Trump overall. "If we issue a statement, we will let everyone know," is all McConnell's top spokesman, David Popp, said following the arraignment. Instead, while the whole country was fixated on Trump's arraignment,

Trump attorney Joe Tacopina appeared on Good Day New York Wednesday morning to discuss Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg’s abusive prosecution of the former president. During the interview, Tacopina described a resolute Trump who remains strong and stiff-spined and determined to pursue a righteous course of legal action. The interview reminds us what a rare individual former President Donald J. Trump is: the more Big Left attacks him, the more energized he becomes to fight back — and he has the guts, spine, and resources to do it. The morning news show Good Day New York on Fox 5 in NYC is an undiscovered gem.

The $10 million-a-day Trump court circus will create a new Manhattan traffic tie-up amid the December Christmas shopping season when Trump returns to Manhattan on December 4 for his next hearing. Shut down Fifth Avenue and the FDR Drive. Close 56th Street and Fifth Avenue on the first Sunday after the big tree lighting. Oh my. New York is a glutton for punishment. The message from the court is: Rockefeller Center be jammed. In Florida, you can do procedural hearings on the phone if warranted. The defendant need not be present for a series of motions. Of course, New York still does many court filings on paper and not online.

RedState’s Nick Arama has had Alvin Bragg’s number for quite some time, predicting that the 34-count indictment would amount to charge stacking and that there could be nothing a serious lawyer would put their name to in it (and she’s written a new analysis now that we have the actual indictment, here). I wrote earlier that once we saw the indictment we knew why Alvin Bragg wanted it to be sealed as long as possible, and that according to one reporter who was in the courtroom Trump’s attorneys laughed when they read it. Trump’s attorney Joseph Tacopino seemed to confirm this with an answer during a press conference after the indictment:

Donald Trump’s arraignment in a Manhattan court on Tuesday was carried out with the minimum amount of fanfare — considering that this was a historic first grand jury indictment of a former president. However, the court proceedings in the wake of ostensible felony leaks to the press about the sealed indictment did produce a curiosity: How was radical activist Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg able to elevate charges that are misdemeanors past the statute of limitations and stack them into 34 felony charges, when the facts of the case did not show there was a cover up a more serious crime? As the eagle-eyed legal commentator Techno Fog noted,

The manifesto of the shooter has yet to be released so it’s currently unclear why this woman targeted this school specifically, but for the Covenant Presbyterian Church, to which the school belongs, this atrocity isn’t deterring faith. Rev. Billy Barnes took the stage at the church for the first sermon after the shooting took place and began speaking. While he alluded to the shooting, his focus was on one fact; that God was still in control.

My introduction to San Francisco came in the late 1970s, when I spent a lot of time there as a young lawyer. For a Midwestern guy, the San Francisco of that era was a revelation: great restaurants, famous hotels on Nob Hill, fog drifting in off the Bay. But today’s San Francisco is, sadly, something else. The San Francisco Chronicle has a long, long article about the city’s demise: “Downtown S.F. on the brink: It’s worse than it looks.” And it looks really bad. The numbers are grim: "Don’t be fooled.
