Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse for the Windy City, there is yet another election that will have residents blowing out for greener pastures.
Brandon Johnson, a radical socialist candidate, defeated moderate Democrat Paul Vallas in the race to replace Chicago mayor/Beetlejuice-lookalike Lori Lightfoot. As noted by journalist Andy Ngo, Johnson had called for “removing law enforcement from society. During the 2020 riots, he defended looters, saying they were lashing out against racism.”

Governor Flintstone has billions. He needs a guy who he can control. Johnson is a typical stupid Democrat in the mold of Maxine and Hank (Guam capsizing?) Johnson. An envelope every once in a while and it's all good.
Vallas was not a moron, who would be easy to control. At least he had brains and pledged to hire more police. All is lost now.
I'm sick to my stomach. Our beautiful city is gone forever.

I always avoid Chicago. Yeah, I have to go through O'hare, but I have not been to the Loop in decades: Self preservation, you see. If you live in Chicago you need to sellout and take a hike. Sell? Fire sale price if you must, sorry, but clear out while you can.

Chicago, like LA and NYC, is a lost cause. It really does not matter who runs it. People who can afford to leave will move to the suburbs or to a red state, and the tax base will continue to erode.

Democrats never learn. Sure, the know how to rig an election, but they always go for the candidate promising the most free goodies, which ever one will stick it to the rich, or the one that ponders best to woke causes. Results and actual policies aren't important.
So yeah.....I'm beginning to believe that Biden actually did get 81 million votes.

You have to be absolutely insane to be a police officer in Chicago. One silver lining in the election of another so-called African American communist thug as mayor - the feral animals inhabiting the democrat communist ghetto killing zones can continue to murder each other with impunity until hopefully they do our country a favor and wipe each other out. Watch the exodus of businesses from Chicago turn into a stampede.
The voters of Chicago deserve every bit of ruin and misery that is coming there way.

Vallas got 50% more votes in the March election than Johnson! (In the March election that led to this runoff it was Vallas 32.0%, Johnson 21.6%, Lightfoot 16.8%, Garcia 13.7%)
How much $ did Johnson get from Soros, laundered thru teacher unions? Was the election rigged? This smells to high Heaven.
Any person with an ounce of conservative leanings should leave Chicago asap. It's done. Finished.

Chicago is referred to as Chi-raq because of the violence. Such a shame. Before Covid we went to Chicago to shop on the Magnificent Mile, dine at great restaurants and we felt safe. That was before Lightfoot. Now we won't go anywhere near Chicago. They've destroyed a beautiful city on the Lake. It's so bad, even the Chicago Bears are moving out.

Unfortunately my sis lives in Dupage County, the last moderately conservative county in northern Illinois, and she says that those who became disenchanted with life in Chi-town and even Cook County are moving there. The disheartening thing is that many of these people have learned nothing and are bringing their worthless politics with them. Don't know how long the county will hold out. Sis is stuck due her hubby's health issues. He is receiving fantastic care which he would almost certainly lose were they to move. My heart breaks for them and others similarly trapped.

Give this guy a chance he's positively brilliant and has an innovative fresh new approach. Tax the rich.
Chicago is hemorrhaging its wealthy because of high crime and high taxes and Brandon wants to defund the police and tax the rich even more. He wants to run the Titanic bilge pumps in reverse.
And as more of the rich and job producing businesses flee the city how many are also going to flee the state as long as they are already uprooting? I'd say businesses close to 100% and individuals 75%.
I feel your sister's pain #17. They also tore down the infamous projects in the city and relocated the delightful residents to DuPage county where their votes were useful in tipping the county to democrat rather than simply winning by larger margins in Cook county.

I am a Trump MAGA Republican and, oddly enough, I have great relief that LIghtfoot is leaving and Brandon is coming on as Mayor. LIghtfoot simply could not govern. Constant scolding, finger wagging, ordering, and high pitched angry threats are not how to get things done in an American city.
Brandon strikes me as more capable of bringing opposing groups together in collaborative efforts to get the basics on track. The first indicaiton will be how he addresses out of control carjacking, robberies, muggings, and smash-window burglaries, the basic qualitiy-of-life crimes that affect every person in Chicago. I wish him well, and would suggest that he seriously study Richie Daley as a model. Chicago worked under Daley.

So how many registered voters actually voted? So, like Alvin Bragg in NYC, did he win with a majority of a tiny minority that voted? I realize it's a Dem majority city but still - what good are elections as so many on our side keep harping, when majority of a tiny minority picks the winner?

Chicago is going the way of Detroit. Cities are like institutions. When the left takes control of one it is soon destroyed. Detroit once was known for crime and shootings. Today the prize goes to Chicago.

Don't be too harsh on Chicago residents. The Democrat Machine has been "electing" their politicians for decades. That does not mean that you ever need to go there because if you are not robbed on the streets you will be robbed by the police department. A cold nasty place.

Sadly, I thought this would be the result of the runoff - most of the minority voters would go to the minority over the white guy. That's exactly what happened. I visited Chicago as a child and was enchanted with its delights - the Palmer House hotel, the Field Museum, the Art Institute of Chicago, Marshall Field's flagship store, the elevated trains and even that hideous Picasso sculpture in Daly Plaza. What a waste of a wonderful city.

Vallas couldn't match the "get out the vote" of Chicago Teachers Union, so their puppet won the election. It doesn't take much when only 32% of the eligible voters actually bother to cast a vote, that's how we got LL and now BJ.

Those of US who escaped from Chicago...knew this was going to happen....the criminal Chicago machine has it's citizens by the throat...they pay trapped folks to vote for the candidate that was chosen behind closed doors in Springfield by giving them $100 for their vote...kinda like California and New York...Jesse Jackson got what he wanted...a trapped population that cannot free themselves...

If you do what you have always done, you will get what you have always gotten. To do the same thing over and over again and expect different results is crazy. The people of Chicago are extra crazy to go from liberal Lori Lightfoot to ultra liberal Brandon Johnson. Expect Chicago's suicide pact to continue with assistance from it's new Mayor, City Council, and citizens.

If you hated Mayor Beetlejuice, you are going to loathe the new Mayor. I figured he was going to be even worse than she was after I read his political bio elsewhere. He really fooled the voters in Chicago by pretending to be all about elevating Chicago's education system.
