Chaos Erupts in Texas Capital: Busy Intersection
Taken Over, Cops Attacked

Original Article

Austin police are investigating what they called “street racing incidents.” The incidents involved crowds taking over major intersections as drivers participated in “drifting” demonstrations. When police arrived, the crowd attacked the vehicles with fireworks, rocks, and other objects. Multiple videos show the chaos that erupted in a major intersection in downtown Austin on Saturday night. Some of the videos show the crowds turning on police as they arrived to clear the streets. Police say people in the crowd threw rocks and fireworks at patrol vehicles damaging at least two. In one video, fireworks appear to be fired at one of the police cars.

The article on Fox points out that the city council finally voted to do a one year temporary extension of the police contract even though their union was trying to get a 4 year contract. Because of the defund issue, vacancies have gone unfilled. And 2 city council members that voted against the contract extension are complaining about the street racers - what did they expect to happen when there aren't enough police to handle things??

They should just block the cross streets, seize the cars....and crush them. Maybe leave a smashed stack of cars next to the intersection for a while as "Art". And yes, I think they should do the same thing with the dirt bike/4 wheeler mobs that take over streets.

You want to see how confident leftists are? They are choosing a red state to create violence and chaos because they know that democrats have effectively tied the hands of law enforcement. This is an arrogant display of their raw power to do whatever they want and walk. The democrat goal has always been to hamstring law enforcement. Criminals know with confidence that they will not suffer any consequences as a result of their actions. This DOJ has allowed rogue district attorneys to set criminals free at will. There is a massive effort by democrats to ignore law and order because they know violent chaos will bring a call for government control.

On Tuesday, dozens of high-profile New York Times journalists signed onto a private letter defending the paper’s coverage of transgender issues and firing back against their own union leadership in what has become a deepening internal row over the paper’s transgender coverage. The letter was sent to NewsGuild of New York president Susan DeCarava, taking her to task for suggesting that the paper’s coverage of transgender issues — including the adverse effects of hormonal and surgical intervention and the recent dramatic increase in gender dysphoria in girls — might have created a “hostile” workplace. “Factual, accurate journalism that is written, edited, and published in accordance with Times standards

The Biden administration released a new rule Tuesday that largely bars migrants who traveled through other countries on their way to the US-Mexico border from applying for asylum in the United States, marking a departure from decadeslong protocol. The new 153-page proposed regulation, which could affect tens of thousands of people, is the most restrictive of a patchwork of policies put in place by the Biden administration to try and manage the US-Mexico border and is reminiscent of a Trump-era policy. The proposed rule would presume asylum ineligibility and "encourage migrants to avail themselves of lawful, safe, and orderly pathways into the United States, or otherwise to seek asylum or other protection

Russian President Vladimir Putin said he is suspending his country's participation in the New START nuclear arms reduction treaty with the United States, imperiling the last remaining pact that regulates the world's two largest nuclear arsenals. Putin made the declaration in his much-delayed annual state of the nation address to Russia's National Assembly on Tuesday. The treaty puts limits on the number of deployed intercontinental-range nuclear weapons that both the US and Russia can have. It was last extended in early 2021 for five years, meaning the two sides would soon need to begin negotiating on another arms control agreement.
