Biotech millionaire Vivek Ramaswamy announced Tuesday that he is entering the Republican primary race for president.
He joins former President Donald Trump and his ex-Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley in what is sure to be a crowded field bidding to be the Republican nominee for president in 2024.
Ramaswamy, 37, released a three-and-a-half-minute video Tuesday signaling that his campaign will focus on how conservatives have been culturally victimized.
'We're in the middle of a national identity crisis,' Ramaswamy begins in his announcement video. 'Faith, patriotism and hard work have disappeared, only to be replaced by new secular religions like Covid-ism, climate-ism and gender ideology.'

Never heard of him, and Trump has my vote.

Well, he's young, rich, and based, so he doesn't have to sell himself to big shot, insider donors. He probably figures this will at least get him well known and set up for the 2028 race.

This is a deliberate strategy by the Republican elite. Flood the Primary field to split the votes - then they position “their” guy to come in and others will drop out, casting their followers to the GOP chosen one (- and it’s not Trump!)

Vivek is brilliant and articulates everything is sensible and necessary to get us back to normal. He does remind me of Trump laying it all out apologetically. I know that Trump is a big fan of Vivek so, a VP spot could be perfect for now and move up in 2024.
Like Trump he owes nothing to any donors and is fearless. His heritage is a plus but that is one thing he would not put front and center. Watch the Tucker interview from tonight and think about the possibilities.

I’m with #6, Illinois Mom.
Vivek is very (very) bright and talks as if he would build on PDJT’s platforms. He also APPEARS to be NON-beholden to The Swamp.
Certainly, he’s the only other candidate I might consider at this time. DeSantis will have a stellar record to run on. But he’ll have to marginalize the concerns about his ties to Swampers.
Vivek has no record, and will need to make a strong case in other ways.
But until PDJT declines or is forced out, HE has my support.

I think the list of RINO's not running will be shorter. Nice try, fellas but it won't work. MAGA

Many men will seek out the office but in the end, the office seeks out the man. Respect Trump during your campaign and he might have a job for you in his administration.

...but does he believe there is no widespread voter fraud? Vote Integrity is #1 and Economic Security is #2. We won't have #2, if we don't have #1.

Never heard of him, but I'll listen to what he has to say. There was a time when nobody heard of Obama either.

He's 39 now? He would be the youngest President ever. The constitutional limit is 35. Kennedy was 42, I believe.

Somehow, electing someone President of the United States when you can't even pronounce his name just doesn't seem quite right. I would not do it! Call me a Crazy Old Lady, but I feel like he should be running in Pakistan or India. Most of those folks with Foreign names are working in the Biden Administration!

I will take a look at all nominees and don't much care if I can pronounce their name or not. We can pronounce "Biden" perfectly and he definitely is not after God's heart as a leader. . .

I read what he said, and it was OK. I did not see any major turnoffs. He did not focus on what I consider the most important issue either. He will need to work on recognition. My top choice, at this point in time, is still Trump. There is still plenty of opportunity for someone that is smart, honest, and driven though.

I'll take a chance here, as I don't know anything about Ramaswamy. Most people who have become fabulously wealthy have some connections to the swamp. Some have gone from being broke to owning beach house mansions in just a few years.
If someone calls me with an Indian accent, I can't hang up quickly enough so they don't try to get into my wallet. I'll wait before condemning or affirming him on the ballot but Trump is my guy now.

I am open to hearing more from this young man, and believe that others on this board ought to be as well. My maternal great grandparents arrived here at the turn of the century, and their family name was strange and unpronounceable to many people of their era. But this is America.
Many (if not most) L-Dotters will probably disagree with me, but I don't think PDT can win another general election, even an honest one. We ought to be open to new (non-RINO) voices.
