President Joe Biden’s (D) administration is reportedly allowing states to use Medicaid for food and nutritional counseling, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The Journal reported Sunday that policy makers are trying to determine whether “food as medicine” programs can enhance health and also save money, the outlet said:
A growing body of research suggests that addressing food insecurity can improve health as well as deliver savings by reducing medical visits, the need for medication, or by helping control serious illness. The programs have also appealed to some GOP lawmakers who believe states should have more control over their Medicaid programs.

Medicaid is a welfare program based on the financial situation of the recipient.
Social security is supposed to be for the elderly who paid into it but the reality is more than half the
SS money goes to people who are well under retirement age and have never paid into the system.
Food stamps/EBT(USDA), free cell phones(FCC), welfare housing(FHA)etc.
I believe that all programs for the poor should be administrated by one agency. ONE!
The multitude of programs are a burden to just about every agency in the federal government and results in confusion, mistakes, and fraud. Actually I think it may be hard to find a federal agency that does not have a program that is for the poor.

I have always wanted to see a complete list of all our countrie's welfare programs at the city, state, and federal level. I want to count the number of times I can wrap the list around the equator.

The stated poverty level in this country never includes the amount of money offered by these welfare programs nor do the income disparity reports.

A relative was in the nursing home on Medicaid and had Humana Advantage. Every month she received $50 on a card that could be used at the grocery store. .

There must be a criminal scam in this somewhere. This is probably just a way of loosening the controls over this spending.

Does this apply to "Balance of Nature", which, according to its advertisements, improves lives in at least a thousand ways.

This makes sense in a perverted sort of way. Healthy food does indeed take the place of many meds but somebody needs to advise the Walmart Water Buffalo that chips, candy, donuts, ice cream and coke are not in the basic food groups and actually create the need for all of the hypertension and cholesterol meds that their doctors tell them to take. If Walmart would remove those little dump trucks with the backup alarms that the beasties block the aisles with, they might have to walk around and get a little exercise to burn off some of the sugar.

Sorry #2 but SS benefits are based on your income earnings - not what you paid into it. What you pay into it is actually what is being used to pay out the benefits for retirees, etc. Of course, the expansion of SS from a retirement benefit into disability ruined the program. As for food insecurity - so ick of all the wailing about it and I refuse to support any local food bank, etc.

This is corruption, pure and simple. They are breaking the laws....and no one will enforce them. When no one enforces laws - there are no laws any more. Anarchy and crime are the standards of the Dems.

I've been at the checkout where someone in front has to pay with several EBT cards. Are they bartered for drugs or are several EBT eligible people all living under the same roof?

Why are Medicid cost soaring? Here is why. Medicaid is supposed to pay for medical benefits and medications. If they want food benefits, they can get food stamp benefits. There are so many programs that overlap and pay for the same things, it is no wonder there is a gigantic government deficit and nobody needs to work anymore. If you look deep enough, there is probably a program somewhere in some already existing program that also pays for rent and utilities. Many of todays "poor" are very well versed in the ABC's and ins and outs of every government program and how to exploit them to their advantage. Many "non-profit" and government agencies stay in business by helping these "poor" people stay poor by assisting them in obtaining any and every benefit available to justify their existence.

Wipe out the middle class and make everyone dependent on the government. The plan is working out brilliantly.
