Several GOP lawmakers blasted the monstrous $1.7 trillion spending bill released Tuesday morning out of the gate, with complaints that they were only given days to read the 4,155-page deal reached by some Senate Republicans and congressional Democrats in an effort to avert a government shutdown. Now, details are trickling out about what is actually contained in the last-minute omnibus, and North Carolina GOP Rep. Dan Bishop took to Twitter to flag what he called "some of the most egregious provisions in the bill." Bishop revealed in a tweet thread that the package "expressly prohibits [Customs and Border Protection] funding from being used to improve border security,"

Biden Lost It, Dropped 'F-Bombs' Over
the Southern Border Crisis

As RedState previously reported, a new book is dishing on Joe Biden’s first year in the White House, and there are some interesting stories being told. According to author Chris Whipple, the president has a penchant for losing his cool and dropping four-letter words in relation to the border crisis, a situation that is more relevant now than ever. For context, October saw a new record of illegal crossings, and 22 days into December as of this writing, the administration hasn’t even bothered to release November’s numbers. I think we can all ascertain what that means. Here’s how Whipple described Biden’s lack of composure via sources inside the White House.

Joe Biden is killing El Paso, TX with his policies. It has gotten so bad that after years of downplaying the crisis even the MSM is starting to cover the crisis. This began, of course, just after the 2022 Midterm elections wrapped up. There was a cone of silence over the problem–polling indicated that Americans were very concerned about immigration. But once the votes had been cast and the Democrats for the most part saved the media clearly felt more comfortable covering the facts. And the facts are indeed bad. Thousands of migrants are illegally crossing the Rio Grande in the region, and it makes good sense for them to do so.
House January 6 Committee Releases Final Report 1 reply

After more than a year and a half of investigation, the January 6 committee released its full report Thursday, finding that former president Donald Trump and his allies are guilty of offenses against the United States for their roles in inciting the Capitol riot and seeking to disrupt the orderly transition of power. Among the crimes the panel contends Trump committed are obstruction of an official proceeding, conspiracy to defraud the U.S., making a false statement, and inciting an insurrection, the last of which could disqualify Trump from holding public office in the future. Trump recently announced his third presidential bid. The Justice Department must now assess

Here’s one part of the nearly $2 trillion American Rescue Plan passed last year that few people apparently read. The bill included more than half a million dollars in grants for tech researchers to develop artificial intelligence algorithms capable of identifying and suppressing “microaggressions” in social media posts. Part of the money was quietly gifted to researchers at the University of Washington earlier this year and they expect to receive the rest of it in coming years as the development work proceeds. You may find yourself wondering how the federal government wound up handing out taxpayer money to develop ways to automatically censor the free speech of its citizens.

The Senate on Thursday approved a $1.7 trillion spending bill with help from more than a dozen Republican lawmakers, after a fight over immigration policy nearly derailed the legislation. In an 68-29 vote, the Senate passed a bill that provides $858 billion for defense, $787 billion for non-defense domestic programs and nearly $45 billion for military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine. The more than 4,000-page bill funds the government for the rest of the fiscal year, and includes more than 7,200 earmarks totaling more than $15 billion. Senate passage sends the bill to the House, where Speaker Nancy Pelosi is expected to hold a vote as early as Thursday evening

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed a Joint Session of Congress Wednesday night. Because of obvious security concerns, the trip had been organized under a cloud of secrecy. The first word leaked out about the speech when President Zelensky was in a military aircraft headed for the United States (see: Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky to Address Joint Session of Congress). President Zelensky appeared before the Joint Session in his trademarked green, collarless shirt to underscore the role he was forced into on February 24, that of the wartime leader of a nation fighting for its survival.

The lobbying arm of Silicon Valley’s tech investors, represented by billionaire Mark Zuckerberg’s FWD.us, admits it is “extremely unlikely” that an amnesty for millions of illegal aliens can pass the lame-duck Congress. For weeks, Sens. Thom Tillis (R-NC) and Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ) have floated a plan that would give amnesty to at least two million illegal aliens enrolled and eligible for former President Barack Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program while also opening the labor market to more foreign competition. The plan sought to trade illegal and legal immigration expansion provisions for big pay raises for the nation’s Border Patrol agents

Some Republican lawmakers remained skeptical of supporting the war in Ukraine despite an in-person joint congressional address by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Zelensky’s trip took place as Congress deliberates an omnibus spending bill that would appropriate $45 billion more for Ukraine assistance, on top of $66 billion appropriated this year. During his address, Zelensky thanked Congress for its continuing support for Ukraine, while members of Congress gave him repeated standing ovations. At the end of his address, Zelensky unveiled a Ukrainian flag signed by Ukrainian troops in Bahkmut,

Addressing a joint session of the U.S. Congress in his first overseas trip since Russia invaded his country more than 300 days ago, Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky took aim at the burgeoning isolationist tendency in American politics, urging lawmakers to ramp up support for his embattled homeland out of self-interest rather than any charitable impulse. Clad in his trademark dark green sweatshirt and cargo pants, Zelensky urged Congress to continue to provide the overwhelming military and financial aid that began to flow when Russia invaded and has continued unabated since, arguing that Russian aggression would further destabilize the U.S.-led international order if left unchecked.

Gov. DeSantis is taking a carrot and stick approach to Florida teachers. On the one hand he is offering them a big raise. On the other hand he is promoting a “paycheck protection” plan which takes aim at teachers unions in the state. Under the new plan, union dues wouldn’t be automatically deducted from paychecks. Instead, teachers would have to send unions a check every month. DeSantis is framing his plan on union dues as “paycheck protection” for teachers and said it would “be a more accurate reflection of who wants to be a part of this or not.” In his remarks, he coupled the union changes with

Add yet another government overreach to the “Things You Didn’t Think Could Happen in America” file: Democrats on the lame-duck House and Ways and Means Committee voted Tuesday to release six years of former President Donald Trump’s tax returns. Why? Because they um, uh—because they want to? But wait, you say to yourself, that’s not possible; your tax returns are private by federal law, and therefore protected from release. The Dems of course found a sleazy way around that. The tax code allows the committee to look at people’s tax returns to provide “oversight” of the Internal Revenue Service, and by writing an official report on their findings,

There has perhaps never been a dumber national obsession than the one that has existed over Donald Trump’s tax returns. They continued to hold that belief despite multiple audits of the former president over the years. The US military may get woker. A new report has advised the US Marine Corps to no longer use “gendered terms” such as “Yes Sir or Yes Ma’am”. The new academic report stemmed from research conducted by the University of Pittsburgh that was directly commissioned by the Marine Corps. The report claims the Marine Corps is behind other branches of the military when it comes to using gender identifiers. The report also states the Army, Navy, and Coast Guard have, for the most part, gotten rid of gender identifiers such as “Sir” and “Ma’am” but instead address drill instructors by their rank and last name.
