Musk polls Twitter users about whether
he should step down

Elon Musk is asking Twitter’s users to decide if he should stay in charge of the social media platform after acknowledging he made a mistake Sunday in launching new speech restrictions that banned mentions of rival social media websites. In yet another drastic policy change, Twitter had announced that users will no longer be able to link to Facebook, Instagram, Mastodon and other platforms the company described as “prohibited.” But the move generated so much immediate criticism, including from past defenders of Twitter’s new billionaire owner, that Musk promised not to make any more major policy changes without an online survey of users.

Musk has exposed what was going on. He could sell off most of his stock and get back most of his money. And we would still know for certain what had been going on. The abuse will probably start back. But we have enough ammo now to punish the FBI and others if the Repubs have the guts.

Musk is more trustworthy than the previous group. He also admitted a mistake and corrected it - as opposed to the previous group who lied about what they were doing. A new batch of controllers could easily go back to the old ways. Even if Musk makes the occasional mistake, I appreciate his relative openness compared to the others.

On Monday’s broadcast of CNN’s “At This Hour,” El Paso, TX City Council Representative Claudia Rodriguez stated that even if Title 42 is extended, it’s too late because people are already coming to the border expecting that Title 42 will be lifted later this week, “and even if they get here and Title 42 remains, the people that are going to be then handling a humanitarian crisis are our neighbors in Juarez.” She added that Juarez is also not prepared to deal with the influx of people. Host Kate Bolduan asked, “If it was even possible, would extending Title 42 be the answer at this point?”

You almost have to hand it to Stacey Abrams. After losing Georgia’s 2018 gubernatorial race to Gov. Brian Kemp, the determined Democrat was still able to raise nearly 100 million dollars — eight million more than Kemp — which she blew through like a champ, by the way. And of course, she lost. Again. To Kemp. According to leftist Axios (which pretends its an unbiased news outlet), after raising all that cash, losing the election — which she actually conceded, this time, as opposed to her first loss to Kemp in 2018 — the Abram campaign still owes more than one million dollars to vendors, as confirmed by

Los Angeles - Harvey Weinstein was found guilty Monday of one count of rape and two counts of sexual assault but acquitted of a count of sexual battery after a trial in Los Angeles, nearly three years after the disgraced movie mogul was convicted at a watershed sex crimes trial in New York City. The jury of four women and eight men was hung on three other counts against him. They deliberated for nine days. Weinstein, 70, pleaded not guilty in both trials and denies all allegations of nonconsensual sex. He is serving a 23-year prison sentence in New York, where he was found guilty in February 2020 of two felonies

Hoo boy. If Michael Shellenberger‘s latest tranche from the Twitter Files gets corroborated, the FBI didn’t just target speech on social-media platforms in a presidential election. The files released today suggests that the FBI acted to preemptively suppress an accurate news report even before it got published — with no actual evidence that it was part of an intelligence operation. Before we go much further, let’s ask ourselves this question: what the hell is the FBI doing in these transactions at all? They do have authority over domestic counter-intelligence, but that doesn’t give them carte blanche to surveil domestic communications, let alone control them

The January 6 committee on Monday referred former president Donald Trump to the Department of Justice for prosecution on four charges related to his conduct leading up to and during the riot that occurred in the Capitol in the wake of his defeat in the 2020 presidential election. The referrals include obstruction of an official proceeding, conspiracy to defraud the U.S., making a false statement, and inciting an insurrection, the last of which could disqualify Trump from holding public office in the future. Trump attempted to “disrupt the peaceful transition of power” in a grave betrayal of duty as outlined in the “take care” clause of the Constitution and in a “crime

Independent writer Michael Shellenberger released part 7 of the "Twitter Files" on Monday, delving into how the FBI and intelligence community "discredited factual information about Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings." Elon Musk had been vocal about being transparent when it comes to Twitter's past and present actions curating content on the platform, including censored content. The Twitter owner has enlisted independent journalists to slowly release evidence of these actions in a series dubbed the "Twitter Files" that continue to expose once-secret communications. "In Twitter Files #6, we saw the FBI relentlessly seek to exercise influence over Twitter, including over its content, its users, and its data,"

Washington - U.S. lawmakers, both Republicans and Democrats, on Sunday pressed Democratic President Joe Biden to take action to manage an expected wave of asylum seekers at America's southern border when COVID-era restrictions are set to end this week. U.S. border cities are bracing for an influx of asylum seekers after a U.S. judge in November moved to strike down a policy enacted by the Trump administration in 2020 that has allowed migration authorities to rapidly send asylum seekers back to Mexico and other countries. The policy, known as Title 42, is due to end on Dec. 21, and thousands of asylum seekers have been lining up

The most recent edition of the 'Twitter Files' reveals that FBI officials demanded execs for the social media giant to give them information about how they were enforcing safety online. Journalist Matt Taibbi, who released the first batch of internal files about the Hunter saga earlier in December, posted emails showing the FBI's Foreign Influence Task Force wanted info about state-run media's use of the site. Taibbi dubbed this release 'Twitter Files Supplemental' and seemed to wonder why the agency was unsatisfied with the idea that it 'had not observed much recent activity from official propaganda actors.'

When talking about a poll that got that much play, there was no chance the result would be anything different. In response, some are claiming Musk made a mistake, effectively “owning” himself in the process.

Most Americans know something has gone terribly wrong—and very abruptly—with the United States. They are certain that our wounds are almost all self-inflicted. The current pathologies are not a result of a natural disaster, an exhaustion of natural resources, plagues, or an existential war. Crushing national debt and annual deficits, spiraling food and fuel costs amid “normal” seven-percent-plus annual inflation, bread-and-circuses entitlements, a nonexistent border, a resurgence of racial tribalism, pandemic violent criminality, and humiliation abroad—all these pathologies are easily cited as symptoms of a sick patient. Our crises are not as the Left maintains

Fearing a huge winter upswing in the number of COVID and flu cases, government officials are once again calling on Americans to don their masks to keep the deadly viruses from spreading. But some take it a step further, suggesting even children 5 and under should put on masks. The latest I&I/TIPP Poll asks: Is that a good idea? The answer, probably not surprisingly to anyone, appears to depend heavily on a variety of factors, including where you live, your race, your gender and your political leanings. So, at the very least, we’re likely in for another politicized debate over the practice of masking, this time for the youngest among us.

NEW YORK -- There are new fears that New York City could be hit with a surge of migrants. This week, Title 42, a policy that has kept many asylum seekers from entering the country, is set to expire. Mayor Eric Adams is warning that there could be upwards of 1,000 migrants bused into the city each and every week, if the policy is allowed to expire. It's not clear how he arrived at that number, but it is clear that there is concern the system could be overwhelmed. The U.S.-Mexico border has been packed with migrants desperate to get in.

The absurdity of the concept of reparations for slavery, an institution that ended several generations ago, is beyond mind-boggling. But there’s a blatantly cynical reason for the sudden lurch in that direction: formerly reliable Black voters are now slipping away from the Democrats. This also explains Biden’s recently expressed profuse generosity towards the nations of sub-Saharan Africa. What is also painfully obvious is the lame, demagogic pandering that is the Democrats’ knee-jerk response, especially to a defecting constituency: just throw money at them and that’ll keep ‘em on the reservation.
