The Interior Department's relocation grants, announced at the White House Tribal Nations Summit on Wednesday, will provide $25 million each to Washington State's Quinault Indian Nation, Alaska's Newtok Village and Alaska's Native Village of Napakiak.
The Quinault Indian Nation is located on the Quinault River at the Pacific Ocean in Washington state, where the tribal community has been impacted by rising sea levels, storm surges and flooding, in addition to risks from tsunamis caused by earthquakes.
While speaking at the White House Tribal Nations Summit on Wednesday, President Joe Biden hinted that he may not be running in 2024. This potentially truthful comment comes as a surprise considering the president has tried indicating in the past that he intends on running in the upcoming presidential election.
As Biden was finishing up his speech an audience member shouted “four more years” at the president.

House Democrats voted Wednesday to make Rep. Hakeem Jeffries their leader in the next Congress, replacing 82-year-old Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
Jeffries won the post in an uncontested election after Pelosi and the two other incumbent members of the Democratic leadership, Majority Leader Steny Hoyer and Majority Whip Jim Clyburn, opted to step down. Jeffries, a 52-year-old New Yorker, will be the first African American to serve as House Democratic leader.
"Leadership is incredibly important," said Jeffries. "When we get an opportunity as diverse leaders to serve in positions of consequence, the most meaningful thing we can do in that space is an incredibly good job."
The San Francisco Board of Supervisors approved a policy on Tuesday officially allowing police to arm human-controlled robots with explosives to kill or incapacitate people in extreme circumstances.

With the holiday season upon us, the gift-giving and feasting seasons are also in full swing. But this year, Americans will find the prices they pay for holiday essentials higher than ever. Much of that is due to the soaring price of something we all take for granted: diesel fuel.
Diesel fuel prices are up roughly 50% from last year, in large part due to fast-dwindling supplies, affecting the cost of everything, including food, transportation, manufactured goods, even gifts. Ships use diesel fuel. So do trucks and trains. Desperate farmers need diesel to fuel their tractors and other farm equipment.
Unless you read The Daily Mail, which is an English paper published online, you probably didn't know that Chinese President Xi Jinping sent tanks into a major city last night in order to put down protests against his rule. Virtually no American media outlets even acknowledge that that happened, and that's pretty weird if you think about it. Imagine, for example, that Hungarian leader Viktor Orbán put tanks into Budapest to crush his political opponents. Would our media notice?

23-year-old paramedic Nicholas Theofilis died late Sunday night after he was found in cardiac arrest after crashing the ambulance he was driving into traffic in the Pittsburgh neighborhood of Shadyside. Two other vehicles were hit, resulting in multiple injuries. There was no patient aboard the ambulance, however a passenger in front was seriously injured.
Nicholas Theofilis served in two community EMS squads and was a volunteer fireman. [Tweets]

We saw an unprecedented effort by the government to go after those who were at the Capitol on Jan. 6, with the FBI investigating hundreds of people and employing all kinds of tactics to arrest them. Not only did the FBI have informants who were involved, but they also employed some unusual methods.
Among the tactics in their huge investigatory effort was the “biggest-ever haul of phones from controversial geofence warrants, court records show.”
According to a filing in one of the Jan. 6 cases, Google gave up information to the FBI on 5,723 devices that had been in or near the Capitol during the riot.
CNN host Don Lemon attacked a former Jewish Trump administration staffer, Len Khodorkovsky, over the former president having dinner with Nick Fuentes and Kanye West last week, demanding that he denounce Trump for schmoozing with alleged antisemites. [Video]
Khodorkovsky, who is Jewish and a former deputy assistant secretary of state in the Trump administration, began the conversation by discussing his descendence from Holocaust survivors, stating, “I can tell an antisemite when I hear one. And I tell you with confidence that President Trump is not an antisemite.”

American consumers are entering the holiday season feeling gloomier about the economy amid ongoing high inflation and layoffs in the tech sector, depressing U.S. consumer confidence for the second straight month in November.
The Conference Board reported Tuesday that its consumer confidence index fell to 100.2 this month, down from 102.2 in October.
