Christine McVie, who played with Fleetwood Mac and wrote some of their most famous songs, has died aged 79, her family has said. The British singer-songwriter was behind hits including Little Lies, Everywhere, Don't Stop, Say You Love Me, and Songbird. She died peacefully at a hospital in the company of her family, a statement said. McVie left Fleetwood Mac after 28 years in 1998 but returned in 2014. The family's statement said "we would like everyone to keep Christine in their hearts and remember the life of an incredible human being, and revered musician who was loved universally".

Christine always epitomized the best of what I thought of as Fleetwood Mac's sound. Less glam than Stevie, but superior in every way musically, IMHO.

I loved her voice. She started out in a group called Chicken Shack under the name Christine Perfect. I always thought she was a better singer than Stevie Nicks, but Stevie had the glamor.

#4 is correct about Christine Perfect McVie, always a fine singer and songwriter. Fleetwood Mac went through three distinct stages: blues (1967-70), soft rock (1970-74), pop (1975 on). Peter Green led the group in its hard core blues edition. After winning the most popular band in Great Britain for years straight, in 1969 the Beatles lost out to Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac. They really were that good. B.B. King got a lot of attention when he declared that Peter was the best blues guitarist of all, better than Clapton, Beck, or Page. (Although I love Eric, Jeff, and Jimmy, I must say that Peter played with more passion than anyone else.) Then Peter left in '70, Chris joined the group the same year, and Danny Kirwan took over Peter's position. That group did the albums Kiln House, Future Games, and Bare Trees, all excellent. But Kirwan (RIP, Danny) was a paranoid schizophrenic and had to be fired. Fleetwood and McVie heard the (excellent) Buckingham-Nicks album from 1973, and wanted to recruit Lindsey Buckingham as the band's next leader. Lindsey told them that he and Stevie were a package deal. Mick and John turned the decision over to Chris. If Chris liked Stevie, Stevie was in the group. Chris liked Stevie and the most popular lineup of Fleetwood Mac was born. Rest in peace, Chris. You did your job with inspiration.

The songs she penned were my favorite Fleetwood Mac tunes. She had a very smooth, but somewhat earthy voice that was so incredibly easy to listen too. Interesting that lately "Everywhere" seems to have been, well, everywhere. A great talent and from what I hear, a rather stabilizing influence on the group. #9 - go take a long walk off a short pier.

A federal appeals court on Thursday overturned a judge's decision to appoint a special watchdog to review documents seized by the FBI from the Florida residence of former President Donald Trump in August as part of a criminal investigation. The Department of Justice had objected to the appointment of that watchdog, known as a special master, by a federal judge in Florida who was nominated to the bench by Trump. The DOJ said the special master appointment delayed DOJ from using the seized documents as part of that probe until they were cleared.

Washington - The Supreme Court on Thursday delayed a decision on whether to grant President Joe Biden's bid to implement his student loan forgiveness plan, announcing instead that it will hear full oral arguments on an expedited basis. In a brief order, the court said it would hear arguments in February with a decision soon to follow. In the meantime, the plan remains blocked. Solicitor General Elizabeth Prelogar filed an emergency application Nov. 18 on behalf of the Biden administration asking the justices to lift an injunction imposed by the St. Louis-based 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. In a separate case, a federal judge in Texas has also blocked

The summit, which takes place at the Department of the Interior, gives tribal leaders the opportunity to engage with top U.S. officials on ways to strengthen nation-to-nation relationships and ensure indigenous communities endure for years to come. Midterm election turnout among black voters appears to be 25 percent lower than white turnout, marking the lowest share of the black electorate since 2006, a New York Times analysis revealed Wednesday. The low turnout of black voters is a strong indicator Democrats could be losing a key portion of their intersection coalition long heralded by members of the left, such as election denier House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), who has claimed the strategy a “gorgeous mosaic” and “not a cult.” Conclusive numbers have not yet been completely compiled from all 50 states, but an early snapshot of voter data suggests black voter turnout was well below the national average

The only cure for that is to not vote for an election denier to ever hold elected office, they said. Yet, on Wednesday House Democrats voted for the next House Minority Leader and they did just that – they elected an election denier, Rep. Hakeem Jeffries. Hmm. You don’t think there is a double standard, do you? Perish the thought. Speaker Nancy Pelosi is retiring (good riddance) and the House is under new majority control in January. In fact, it is Michelle’s second autobiography, a follow up to her wildly successful 2018 memoir, Becoming.
