GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., is getting ready to exercise his authority under congressional rules and procedures to remove three vocal Democrats from key committees when Republicans take power next year. Normally, Democrat and GOP leaders nominate members of their party to various House committees, and those members are approved when the House passes a resolution appointing the members in a simple majority vote.
In the past, these appointments have not been controversial, and only a handful of members were refused committee assignments or had been removed from committees, usually because of ethics violations. However,

Everyone seems to be forgetting Nancy Pelosi blocking the Republican selections for the January 6 Committee because she did not like them. Nancy then selected her own hand picked, Never-Trump "Republicans". McCarthy should just follow Nancy's example for keeping people off committees and appointing who he likes to each committee.

Maybe I am mistaken, but I believe Schiff, Omar, and Swalwell have all committed ethics violations. So there would be good reason to refused them committee assignments

Remember, the Dem House voted on the floor to remove Ms Taylor Greene and later Ms Bobrick from committee. And then Nancy vetoed the Republican appointments to the Dem J6 Witch Hunt. Sounds like precedent to me. If Mc Carthy is willing to give back what the Dem House did the last four years and make the Dems play by their own rules, he deserves the job as Speaker. If not, he's not even worthy to be a janitor on Capitol Hill.

McCarthy should keep the J6 committee, but do the same as Nancy, and only appoint Republicans to the committee. If any Dem, not one with a "safe" seat, as they'd then be free to do what they'd like.
Then, investigate, and recall people to testify, if that's allowed.
Or, open up a whole new investigation on those who were on the committee, how they were selected, and how they conducted their investigation, or if they didn't investigate things like whether the Speaker was in charge of the Capitol Police, why the DC mayor declined any additional support, etc...

The dims have a knack for ignoring tradition and setting precedents which eventually work against them.
Harry Reid's hubris facilitated Trump's appointments toFederal judgeships and SCOTUS and now Pelosi's gambit has set the stage for removing dims from committees.
The dims are fortunate they didn't eliminate the filibuster and pack the SC - yet
Will dims ever learn that short term advantage does not guarantee long term power.

Dirty Harry Reid blew up the filibuster on federal judges and consequently Garland is the corrupt AG unti 2024 and not a Supreme Court Justice. Nancy denied republicans on committee assignments so there is your precedence. Reap what you sow!

The Jan 6th inquistion is nothing but theater and "top secret" 14,000 hours of Capital security camera streams, 400+ resigned DC cops that never testified and a scaffold erected at the steps of the Capital with what we now know were paid instigators screaming on megaphones to storm the opened from the inside 20,000 lb electric doors all need to be exposed by Republicans. If they want a return to honesty, integrity and bravery.

I don't trust him for a second. He's talking tough now, but once he has the Power of the Speaker he'll relent citing cooperation.
I don't believe the talk about avoiding a fight. We are IN a fight! Rolling over is not an option. If he can't follow that path (maybe his per$onal agenda is different) we need someone else who will!

I'm willing to hold my fire on Mr. McCarthy. He could surprise all of us much the way Trump did. Having seen Trump for years in NYC, I assumed he'd be a bit of a compromising RINO. How wrong I was! He turned out to be Ronald Reagan redux.
Maybe being Speaker will be the backbone transplant old Kevin needs ... and he'll settle some scores! At least we can hope & pray that's what he'll be like!
In any event, he's off to a good start with these 3 goons.
Now move the rest of "The Squad" off their committees and over to the Congressional Committee in Charge of Paper Clips at the Pentagon.

Re: #8 - Happy Thanksgiving. No need to be ugly today, especially towards Republicans.
On another note, I don't think anyone who frequents this site has forgotten about Pelosi and Jan 6. It's like a suppurating wound that won't heal. The J6 "committee" would seem to be fair game for following recent hyper-partisan precedent, given how un-American Pelosi and the dems have acted; however, it would seem prudent to get our Congress back to functioning as the Framers intended, particularly since our entire Country is so divided ideologically. Majorities in Congress are fleeting, mirroring the ever-changing whims of the electorate. Emulating democrats by matching their depravity is probably not a good strategy. It is in the various standing and ad-hoc committee chairmanships, where Republican leadership is the expected and essential norm. If Trump gets elected back into the WH, I doubt he'd follow Biden's example and weaponize his DOJ to bastardize the rule of law and apply the power of the Executive Branch to punish political enemies (and the Good Lord knows he has political enemies aplenty), while ignoring actual criminal behavior. Unfortunately for McCarthy, he's already hated by a huge segment of the GOP, so he is between a rock and a hard place with regard to using his statutory power to get back at democrats, when the most effective way to get back at them is to keep them from regaining a majority in the House or holding their majority in the Senate in '24 and beyond. When Republicans take back the Senate, it appears that McConnell's huge piles of garbage-filled, smelly baggage will open up new Senate leadership opportunities. As #2 implies, the ethics violations of Schiff and his other Marxist cohorts, ought to be openly investigated and the violations dealt with according to House rules.
