Republican Kari Lake has narrowed Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs’s lead in the state’s race for governor in a Nov. 15 update.
Hobbs’s lead of 19,382 narrowed to 17,249, according to unofficial results from the office of Hobbs, a Democrat, based on new reports from Maricopa County and other jurisdictions. Hobbs gained nearly 9,700 votes in the new tranche, while Lake gained 11,829.
Hobbs now has 1.276 million votes, while Lake now has 1.259 million. The margin between the candidates is about 0.6 percent, close to recount territory.
Under a new Arizona law, a recount is triggered if the margin is at or below 0.5 percent when all the votes are counted.

Make room Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio. The Republican Cuban-American Caucus in the Senate may expand as West Virginia Congressman Alex Mooney announced he is going to take on Joe Manchin, D-Joe Manchin, in the 2024 election.
Mooney's mom is a Cuban refugee who fled ahead of being imprisoned after the Bay of Pigs. He is a Maryland refugee having served as that state's Republican chairman.
But he became part of the Republican exodus from DC and Maryland to West Virginia's Eastern Panhandle, They helped flip the deeply blue state red.(snip)
Mooney persevered. He just won his fifth term. He is definitely a Trump supporter.

The comic relief in politics arrived last night as the editors of National Review declared they oppose President Donald John Trump's second attempt at re-election.
Just like they did in 2016 and 2020.
Republicans ignored NR's opposition in 2016.
Republicans ignored NR's opposition in 2020.
If Republicans don't nominate him in 2024, it will not be because of anything NR wrote. It will be because people realize that despite the unfairness of it all, Trump cannot win because the media succeeded in making him too toxic for anyone outside of MAGA voters.
If Trump's nominated, I will vote for him for president a third time because I love the man. I appreciate the sacrifices he

Poland’s President Andrzej Duda and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said in separate remarks on Wednesday that the deadly blast on Polish territory near its border with Ukraine was most likely caused by a Ukrainian air defense missile rather than one fired by Russian forces.
Duda said that there’s “no indication that this was an intentional attack on Poland,” (snip)
most likely a Russian-made S-300.
Missiles of this type are used by Ukraine as part of its air defense system, which was active amid a barrage of Russian missile strikes in western Ukraine.

In the final days of a Republican controlled Pennsylvania House, the Judiciary Committee voted along party lines Tuesday to move two impeachment articles against Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner to the full House, which is expected to vote on it Wednesday.
The articles blame Krasner’s leadership in the district attorney’s office (DAO) as being a direct cause of increasing Philadelphia crime and accuse him of obstructing the impeachment investigation by not sufficiently complying with a subpoena from the Select Committee on Restoring Law and Order.
That select committee released a report of its investigation on Oct. 24 and, although it did not recommend impeachment, it offered a grim look at Philadelphia’s crime.

"I don’t think there’s been two years of more effective policymaking of a modern American president. It’s been a masterclass the last two years, not necessarily in effective communication and generating narrative, but in terms of the substance under the circumstance, with all the headwinds, the obfuscation, and opposition. I think it’s been remarkable.”
That may sound like something you’d hear from White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre,(snip). that’s the analysis of California Governor Gavin Newsom, four days before the November 8 election, and the subject was White House resident Joe Biden.
(snip)The statement contains no facts, but there is something remarkable about Gavin Newsom that people might not know.

If Republicans eke out a win in the House of Representatives—which now seems likely—GOP leaders have promised to investigate numerous government scandals, including the irredeemably corrupt Federal Bureau of Investigation. One path of inquiry is how the bureau manufactures data to promote the phony narrative that “domestic violent extremists,” i.e., supporters of Donald Trump, pose a security threat to the country.
Whistleblowers recently disclosed how the FBI is “misrepresenting the scale of domestic violent extremism nationwide by categorizing January 6th-related investigations as organic cases stemming from local field offices, instead of all related to one single incident,” according to a report by GOP members of the House Judiciary Committee.

Is there a questionable relationship between Sam Bankman-Fried’s bankrupt FTX, Ukraine, and the Democrats? In the aftermath of the collapse of the cryptocurrency exchange, new questions are being raised surrounding these connections, from crypto partnerships to the billionaire’s contributions to Democrats.
But is there something behind the curtain or was it a group of young people in over their heads?
(snip)
In March, the Ukrainian government established a crypto donations website, allowing Kyiv to convert digital token contributions into fiat money that would be deposited at the National Bank of Ukraine. The Ukraine government maintained a goal of $200 million. By October, it had raised more than $60 million.

Thanks to commenters like Surviving the Billionaire Wars and Ray So-cal, for pointing out links for the developing FTX scandal. This FTX story may have some legs, although the usual suspects are probably already busy covering the trail. The principle governing this is, again, a simple one. Crypto is a fraud, probably designed as such for special purposes. Therefore, expect fraud almost everywhere you look in that field, and especially when large amounts of money are involved.

PHILADELPHIA—Call it “the White Wave.” A flood of white envelopes containing mail-in ballots lofted Democrat candidates to victories in several key Nov. 8 races.
Case in point: Democrat John Fetterman will occupy Pennsylvania’s coveted U.S. Senate seat instead of Republican Dr. Mehmet Oz.
In that race—and several others—mail-in ballots acted as a breaker against the “Red Wave” of wins that Republican leaders had hoped would wash across the nation at a time when Congress and the White House are both Democrat-controlled.

Florida’s fentanyl crisis is a “revolving door of overdose,” a top health official says.
According to Centers for Disease Control data, there were 7,738 reported overdose deaths in Florida between May 2020 to May 2021. From May 2021 to May 2022, that number rose to 7,942. According to Dr. Kenneth Scheppke, Deputy Secretary for Health at the Florida Department of Health (FDH), problems with illicit substances in the United States are nothing new, but they have become far more deadly because of fentanyl.
Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid up to 100 times more potent than morphine. As little as two milligrams, equivalent to five grains of salt, can be fatal.

On April 3, 1965, a mere 57 years ago, Paul Harvey gave a commentary on ABC radio entitled, “If I Were The Devil,” in which he laid out Satan’s plan for America. If you have never heard it, I suggest you listen to him as you read this because all of what he said indeed came true. Most men try to figure out what God’s plan is. Harvey worried about what the devil was up to.
If he were the devil, Harvey began, “I’d subvert the churches first (snip) With the wisdom of a serpent, I would whisper to you as I whispered to Eve: ‘Do as you please.’”
Comments:
No surprise.
