If I Were The Devil, updated

On April 3, 1965, a mere 57 years ago, Paul Harvey gave a commentary on ABC radio entitled, “If I Were The Devil,” in which he laid out Satan’s plan for America. If you have never heard it, I suggest you listen to him as you read this because all of what he said indeed came true. Most men try to figure out what God’s plan is. Harvey worried about what the devil was up to. If he were the devil, Harvey began, “I’d subvert the churches first (snip) With the wisdom of a serpent, I would whisper to you as I whispered to Eve: ‘Do as you please.’”

MANY of the electorate sheep are anxious to get daily updates, maybe even more often, on the Kardashians. Then it's watching re-runs of The Real Housewives of Cleveland. The number of illiterate kooks that inhabit the U.S. is staggering. I see them whenever I stop in at the local watering hole.

And the churches stand by silently. Many of them are in the pocket of the federal government now. Many took government money during Covid. Including the Southern Baptist church that I used to belong to, that being one reason I left. For as long as I can remember, the church inc. has made great noise and raised a lot of money by claiming to oppose abortion. When the government was forcing people to get the Covid vaccine I hoped that leaders in the church inc. would stand up and say “I will never take a shot developed with aborted babies, I will die first to stop this evil.” Instead, they almost universally developed reasons why it was OK and good to take the injection. Cowards! Christ tells us to take up our cross but they let the unborn children bear theirs. It is no wonder the culture is lost.

Paul Harvey was a large preseince in Radio, predating Rush Limbaugh. Harvey, like Limbaugh, had an excellent radio voice, and unlike Rush, could make his point in two minute segments. (Do not misunderstand me. I loved Rush, who is an historic figure, and I loved Paul Harvey, who stood alone in conservative radio at the time. Talk radio didn't exist in the 1950s, Harvey was the closest to it, in those brief, focused segments.) And now for the rest of the story....

The devil's greatest accomplishment is convincing people that he does not exist. Good people are being led to destruction by our secular government. Cowardly church leaders do nothing.

Jan. 6 panel hits back at Pence over new interview 4 replies

The House Jan. 6 committee on Wednesday pushed back on former Vice President Mike Pence after he described the panel as “partisan” during an interview with CBS that aired earlier in the day. Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), the panel’s chair, and Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), who serves as vice chair, in a joint statement criticized Pence’s comments as “not accurate,” while praising his actions the day of the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021. “The Select Committee has proceeded respectfully and responsibly in our engagement with Vice President Pence, so it is disappointing that he is misrepresenting the nature of our investigation while giving interviews to promote his new book,”

Many Democrats this year hoped to break the tie in the U.S. Senate by winning a number of vulnerable GOP-held seats in states like Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin that had voted for Donald Trump in 2016 and 2020. While the latter two voted for Joe Biden by narrow margins in 2020, the Buckeye State went for Trump by 8 percentage points. Still, Representative Tim Ryan from the 13th Congressional District in northeastern Ohio’s Mahoning Valley figured it was his turn. One reason may have been the state GOP’s redistricting, which resulted in the dismembering of his district such that it lost Democratic voters from Akron and surrounding Summit County.

Federal agents and prosecutors have come to believe former president Donald Trump’s motive for allegedly taking and keeping classified documents was largely his ego and a desire to hold on to the materials as trophies or mementos, according to people familiar with the matter. The articles blame Krasner’s leadership in the district attorney’s office (DAO) as being a direct cause of increasing Philadelphia crime and accuse him of obstructing the impeachment investigation by not sufficiently complying with a subpoena from the Select Committee on Restoring Law and Order. That select committee released a report of its investigation on Oct. 24 and, although it did not recommend impeachment, it offered a grim look at Philadelphia’s crime.

If Republicans eke out a win in the House of Representatives—which now seems likely—GOP leaders have promised to investigate numerous government scandals, including the irredeemably corrupt Federal Bureau of Investigation. One path of inquiry is how the bureau manufactures data to promote the phony narrative that “domestic violent extremists,” i.e., supporters of Donald Trump, pose a security threat to the country. Whistleblowers recently disclosed how the FBI is “misrepresenting the scale of domestic violent extremism nationwide by categorizing January 6th-related investigations as organic cases stemming from local field offices, instead of all related to one single incident,” according to a report by GOP members of the House Judiciary Committee.
