Oregon voters are considering passing one of the most restrictive gun control measures in the country that would raise the barriers to purchase a firearm and place gun owners on a searchable database.
Measure 114, often referred to as the Reduction of Gun Violence Act, is a ballot measure that will require background checks, firearm training, fingerprint collection and a permit to purchase any firearm, according to the legislation. Oregon already requires background checks for gun owners, and the new legislation will cost the state $49 million annually while also placing an expected 300,000 residents on a gun owner database, according to Fox News.

Only the criminals will have guns then, since they’re not too keen on following the letter of the law.

Same law as Connecticut. It made no difference in the rate of gun homicides and teen age aspiring rap artists seem to be able to get illegal guns with no problem at all.

When are the law abiding white people of rural Oregon going to wake up and actively resist the totalitarian state's efforts to put them in cages? If this law passes (although it will only be on the books long enough for it to be permanently enjoined by the Federal Courts) it can safely be said that Oregon is no longer a place where free people can live in peace and safety.

#8, Oregon is controlled by the west side of the state aka liberal morons. That is why the rural counties support the "Greater Idaho" movement.

The nutty half of the people of Oregon, who are mostly disgruntled California migrants, are about to learn a good lesson. Apparently they think that gun control is going to prevent another CHAZ or CHOP.

These very measures that Oregon has on the ballot, have been in effect in Maryland for years. I needed to take a class, go through a background check, get fingerprinted, before I was allowed to get a license to purchase a handgun. No such restrictions exist for buying shotguns or rifles. Each step cost money which is the REAL purpose of the whole exercise.

Does everyone get a ''This is a GUN FREE HOME'' sign for their front yards? Many criminals are stupid and need the assistance of the State while plying their trade.

Oregon, just one question - do you realize that most criminals will blow you off and acquire their firearms illegally. Your stupid Measure 114 is like requiring them to pose for their mug shot before they commit their crimes.

Much of this is unconstitutional. They will be particularly unhappy when the SCOTUS strikes it down, or lower courts, before it even gets to SCOTUS.

I think that there is a fair chance that this will not pass. But, it's loony Oregon, the densely populated western fringe is nutty as a fruit cake, while it appears that the central and eastern counties are populated by sane folks.

Oregon, like most blue states, would like to outlaw guns for everyone - except the police who they abhor. What kind is psychosis is that?
