Europe now has a natural gas oversupply
(if you include ships waiting to unload)

Original Article

We all know how this has played out. This summer Russia started monkeying with the natural gas supply to Germany and the rest of Europe, claiming there was some technical problem that required maintenance. Then they cut the gas off completely and not long after that someone blew up the Nord Stream pipeline. The result of all this has been a huge spike in energy prices in Europe and concern that there might not be enough gas to heat homes this winter. But here we are in late October and the situation is looking very different. For one thing, Europe has mostly filled the underground gas storage tanks for the winter.

Not likely to be an oversupply in a month or two when they really need the heat.

Excuse me.. but the Russians didn't monkey with the gas supply. The "west" decided not to pay for it... the "sanctions" went into effect. If the "West" wasn't going to pay, then the Russians weren't going to supply it. Why did the author use those weasel words?

I don't understand the point of the article. Seems to be saying: 1. Europe had a nat gas shortage and filled their elec grid tanks at an extreme premium price, which is only now being passed on the customers. 2. We now have a nat gas glut offshore, and no demand for it. So...what...this will harm the suppliers who now gotta eat the inventory? Or...the gas will sit at sea building up the price until Europe needs it again? Alotta graphs proving no clear point being made.

Re #2, you should check your facts. Putin reduced flow on the gas pipeline to pressure the west. Then Putin changed the rules to require that the gas be paid for in rubles, which was never the case previously. And this would have required the Europeans to purchase rubles at outrageous "exchange" rates (extortion rates?) to purchase the gas. Europe refused to pay in rubles, refusing to be screwed twice by Putin. Facts mean something. It is best to stick to the facts. And perhaps LEARN a few facts, too.

#5, put all of your eggs in one basket, you darn well do what the basket says. If Putin said he wanted only purple roses in exchange for his NatGas, you best find some purple roses. Or rubles. Don’t want to buy rubles? Freeze.

The suspect in the attack on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband was charged Monday with assault and attempted kidnapping. David Wayne DePape, 42, was charged with one count of assault of an immediate family member of a United States official “with the intent to retaliate against the official on account of the performance of official duties,” the Department of Justice announced. If convicted, the assailant could face up to 30 years in prison. DePape was also charged with one count of attempted kidnapping of a United States official, presumably Nancy Pelosi. If found guilty, he could face a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. DePape, a mentally ill drug addict

Justice Clarence Thomas pressed North Carolina’s solicitor general to explain how the University of North Carolina defines diversity during oral arguments on Monday in a Supreme Court case centered around the use of race as a factor in college admissions. “I’ve heard the word diversity quite a few times and I don’t have a clue what it means,” said Thomas. “It seems to mean everything for everyone.” Students for Fair Admissions (SFFA) has challenged the race-based admissions policies of both Harvard and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC), accusing both schools of discriminating against Asian-American applicants. The cases were initially merged, but are now being heard separately

Elon Musk has dissolved Twitter’s board of directors and appointed himself the company’s “sole director,” according to a Monday securities filing. Immediately after completing his $44 billion acquisition of Twitter on Thursday, Musk fired several senior executives, including CEO Parag Agrawal. The board included nine directors and Musk’s move is the latest in a series of overhauls he is planning on implementing. On Sunday, Musk announced that Twitter was contemplating revamping its entire approach to the blue verification badges displayed on profiles to authenticate users.

The day before yesterday, Paul Pelosi, the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, was attacked at the couple’s home in San Francisco by a male assailant. Law enforcement sources that remained unnamed told CNN that the assailant was searching for the Speaker of the House. The source claims the intruder confronted the Speaker’s husband in their San Francisco home shouting, “Where is Nancy? Where is Nancy?” This was apparently the exact call that January 6th ‘rioters’ made as they ‘hunted’ House Speaker and broke into her office. How did Paul Pelosi manage to alert the police?

Half of U.S. voters say the economy or inflation is their number one issue heading into the November 8 midterm elections, according to a recent ABC/Ipsos poll. The poll shows that 28 percent of registered voters say the economy is their single most important issue for determining their ballot, while 22 percent say inflation is. Furthermore, 73 percent of Republican voters list the economy and inflation as their top issue going into the midterm elections — with 45 percent saying the economy and 28 percent saying inflation. The poll also found that half of independent voters (50 percent) say either the economy or inflation is their number one issue going into November.

Independent voters are breaking for Republican candidates less than two weeks before the November 8 midterm elections. According to CBS/YouGov polling from October 12 to 14, independent voters preferred generic congressional Democrat candidates over Republican ones by 40 percent to 38 percent. However, in a second poll from October 26 to 28, independents said they preferred generic congressional Republican candidates over Democrat candidates by 49 percent to 33 percent. This means that Republicans saw an 18-point swing in their favor among independent voters over a two-week period. The CBS/YouGov web-based poll surveyed 1,000 Americans and has a +/- 3.5 percent margin of error.

CBS’s Sunday Morning started off with their anchor Jane Pauley fearmongering that if Republicans win in the 2022 midterm elections, “democracy” could end in the United States. Plugging an upcoming segment by correspondent Robert Costa, Pauley fretted that “the very future of our democracy” is on the ballot in 2022.  “This past summer, it was looking like the Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v Wade might offer an opportunity to the party in power, the Democrats. But a more recent issue, inflation, could very well rule the day. And favor Republicans,” Pauley bemoaned.

The attack on Paul Pelosi, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband, has dominated the news the last few days. Questions still remain about how David DePape, a nudist protester with a convoluted political history, got inside the house, but what appears fairly clear is that the assailant had a drug-induced psychotic break. Naturally, though, the easy answer isn’t the one the left wants. Instead, they want to pretend that Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy making a joke a year ago is what actually “radicalized” DePape because everything must be stupid. CBC News anchor Margaret Brennan toed that line on Sunday, losing her mind because the GOP refuses to concede the election to Democrats nine days

This time, a 5-0 lead was more than enough for the Houston Astros. A day after allowing the Philadelphia Phillies to come back to win 6-5 in extra innings, the Astros took care of business in Game 2, winning 5-2. Framber Valdez went 6.1 innings, giving up one run and striking out nine, while Houston led off the game with three straight extra-base hits, a first in World Series history. An Alex Bregman two-run home run added some insurance, but Houston was in control of this game from the first pitch. Here are the best sights and sounds from Game 2 of what is now a tied 2022 World Series.

The president spoke to reporters about the attack at a polling center in Delaware, where he voted early with his granddaughter Natalie Biden. “The talk has to stop.
