United Kingdom Prime Minister Liz Truss resigned Thursday after less than two months in office amid pressure following a reversal of economic policies that led to economic instability.
Truss made the announcement a day after she defiantly declared that she is "a fighter and not a quitter." Ultimately, however, she said that circumstances have changed.
"Given the situation, I cannot deliver the mandate on which I was elected by the Conservative Party," Truss said. “I have therefore spoken to His Majesty the King to notify him that I am resigning as leader of the Conservative Party."

A laughable error of pisspoor woke voting to ensure affirmative action. Kamala Harris needs to pay close attention.

Completely ridiculous. You FIGHT for the agenda you ran on! I guess she thought she'd decree it and the people would all rejoice. At the first sign of resistance and complaint, she caved. Very disappointing.

Prime example of why I don't make kneejerk leaps declaring this-or-that political figure should be immediately elevated as the next superstar. I fully admit to hoping that the spark of strength and genuineness indicates a solid and true leader...but have been disappointed and disgusted too many times by them. I could name many, but off the top of my head I think of Pence, Noem, Haley, Barr.
Best to watch how these shining new stars actually handle the tasks that face them before putting all my hopes in their basket. So much for the next Margaret Thatcher.

It's a rare woman who is strong enough for a position like this. (I am a woman so I can say this. I hope.)

She was completely unqualified for the position to begin with therefore no surprise this has happened other than being so quick. UK is the canary in the mine and this bodes ill for the West. Specifically in terms of the West's ability to weather what is ahead. Europe has shot itself in the head by supporting a Nazi regime in Ukraine and cutting off its energy supply. This was a major reason (2 yr energy cap) Truss' budget went nowhere (yes tax cuts for the wealthy was a primary contender too), Pay attention and Prepare for things can quickly get worse everywhere.

Some 'nameless' person while a ton of influence 'cleared their throat' and Truss was gone. Actually, it was likely a group of people that hold much of Britain's debt and they are 'protecting their investment'. It will be interesting to see who runs Britain next because they will 'represent' this group of people.
It can happen here in the United States. Maybe it already has. Biden is nothing more than a front man. Now who represents this group's interest in the United States? Top five in US line of succession are Harris, Pelosi, Leahy, Blinken, and Yellen. I would put my money on Yellen. Runs the department of Treasury and was Chairman of the Fed.
This is all about money, and these people are running scared fearing they are about to lose their collective shirts. Maybe they have reason to be scared considering how much debt has been racked up. How much deeper can we go into debt before we default? Btw, doubt this is Soros or Gates or even China. These people have been loaning money to the west for a long time. Soros and Gates are small players in comparison. China is a newcomer in this game.

It's not just Great Britain. The entire world is careening toward a horrendous financial crash, and there are NO competent leaders anywhere in sight. Even worse, the complete lack of traditional values and principles in the populations of the previously stable countries pretty much guarantees 2 specific outcomes: (1) that any measures taken to correct matters will be focused on short-term fixes to appease the unsatisfiable and that make long-term conditions even worse, and (2), when the unraveling begins, there will be chaos, open criminality, and widespread warfare across the globe.
The people alive today have lived through the Golden Age of the Human Race. Stability. Order, Plenty. Comfort. And essentially, they abandoned the behaviors, principles, and governing practices that brought the human race to such a stage. Now the consequences are about to hit on a global scale.

#4 makes an excellent point.
#1 perhaps does not understand that parliamentary systems do not involve direct public voting for party leadership or Prime Minister.
Truss and her cabinet came to a disagreement mainly over fiscal policies. As such she resigned rather than be cashiered. At least she’ll go down in history as the last PM in the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.

This is a cover up excuse. Sooner than later the truth will be disclosed.

#9 It is a shame that pointing out the Ukrainian Government (distinctly different from the vast majority of Ukrainians) is tied to the ideology of Stepan Bander and the Ukrainian Army is overrun by those that identify with the Azov, is considered by so many as propaganda. Cutting off the oil and gas from Russia is really impacting all Western Countries (with the hardest hit to date being those in Europe) and Truss in her mini-budget called for a 2-year lock (unfunded) to cap energy prices. So the elite of Europe and the US do not like Putin or Russia and are happy to destroy the lives and futures of their citizens to the above-mentioned government of Ukraine. So no, I am not parroting Russian propaganda and as the world races to a global war, yes I believe the stupidity of what these leaders are doing should be called out.

Re #15. Yes, I've seen the pathetic claims about Azov brigade. Very small group and apparently created by a Jewish guy. Doesn't sound nazi to me. But one ridiculous, evidence free claim, founded in Russian propaganda, sucks a lot of gullible people into believing that baloney.
Once again I ask...have you ever met even one Ukrainian? Ever been there? I did business with them for many years. I've hosted some in the USA, staying in my home.
I know many top scientists and engineers in Ukraine, and they have been doing all they can fighting the government corruption, which was funded by Moscow to keep Ukraine financially weak and dependent. After they tossed out the last Moscow puppet President of Ukraine, Yanukovych, Putin has gotten more desperate, inventing this nazi BS as his excuse for invading, after his puppets were tossed out.
