Former President Donald Trump was subpoenaed Friday for documents and his testimony by the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021 assault on the Capitol.
Committee Chairman Rep. Bennie Thompson, Democrat of Mississippi, and Vice Chair Rep. Liz Cheney, Republican of Wyoming, issued the subpoena to Trump in a letter eight days after the panel's unanimous vote to do so, at the end of what was likely the committee's final hearing.
The committee demands that the former president submit documentary material by Nov. 4, which would be followed by "one or more days" of his deposition under oath "on or about" Nov. 14, according to the panel's letter.

There was no insurrection. There was cold blooded murder of Ashleigh Babbitt by a Capitol policeman who got off without even a slap on the wrist. Reader's Digest has a multi-page story on this non-existant insurrection. Last one I will ever read.

Unless the Witch Hunt Committee agrees on an open session (they won't)., Pres Trump shouldn't plan to free up his schedule that day.

Let’s see how long it takes to declare Executive Privilege. Then let’s see how long it takes for The to arrest Trump. Then we can expect false flag rent a mob of fake MAGA people antifa and rioters to start burning cities. Then Biden will call out the military and declare Marshall Law. It’s the plan. Of course the media will be all over it spreading the lies. This is just another operation of their psyop psychological warfare being waged in the country.

Do they actually have to serve like civil or criminal subpoenas? If so how do they do that. To him personally or to one of his attorneys who authorized by him to do so?

Guess they've gone so far that they can't back out. They are looking awfully silly since there was no insurrection on J6. I'm hoping that when the Republicans take back the gov't, they wipe the records clean of anyone who was charged for J6. Maybe I'm expecting too much?! Wonder what the people of Seattle, Minneapolis etc think of the "rioting" on J6?

Trump was declared an enemy of the state. His 75 million supporters in the MAGA movement have been declared enemies of the state. The state is vicious and have no intention of sering Trump being re-elected. They well go to any lengths to keep that from happening and to eliminate him as well as his supports no matter what it takes. Those 87,000 new IRS armed agents are not for tax audits.

Trump should object. The subpoena seeks information protected by the attorney-client privilege and executive privilege and it not sought for a legislative purpose. The Committee would then have to seek to enforce it in court, I believe. With likely appeals, it would take a long time, maybe even running out the clock. If he eventually has to testify, there is always the 5th amendment.

There is a lot of misunderstanding in the media about these subpoenas. They are no different from subpoenas issued by a court. Persons subpoenaed can file objections or go to court to move to quash. That is not "defying" a subpoena or a basis for finding someone in contempt. Of course, at the end of the day, the courts might enforce the subpoena but no one can be forced to testify against himself. They committee has all but said they plan to make a criminal referral. Trump can and should plead the 5th.

If I were President Trump, I would simply have my lawyer inform the committee when they ask their first question:
“Given that this is nothing more than a Soviet-style “show trial” that would make Josef Stalin so proud, and shows a total disregard for the Constitution, Donald Trump invokes his 5th amendment right to refuse to answer that question!!!”
And then inform them that that will be his response to all questions asked of President Trump that day!!!
The meltdown (especially by the RINO’s on the committee) will be epic!!!!

He should start his testimony with this statement “My legal representation informs since this committee is a fraud and a farce as are all of the members on it and judgement has already been decided I should do what Lois Lerner did and invoke my right as a citizen the fifth amendment.”
Then he should do what he is so good at humiliate every member of the committee and demand to question Pelosi, Biden etc.

Trump's lawyers should point out to the courts that the committee allowed no witnesses for the defense and refused to seat Republicans not named by Pelosi, who hates Trump.
