White House press secretary dismisses
question on whether Biden wants more migrants

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre dismissed a reporter's question on Wednesday about whether President Biden wants more migrants to come to his home state of Delaware amid a historic surge in encounters at the southern border. "Does President Biden want more migrants to come to Delaware?" a reporter asked Jean-Pierre at the White House. "I don't even understand that question. I will move on," the press secretary replied. The exchange came after Jean-Pierre criticized governors in border states for bussing thousands of migrants to New York City, Chicago and Washington, D.C.

Comments:

Is there a name for The Peter Principle that specifically applies to a person who rises to the level of incompetence because they were hired just to check off certain boxes? “The Jean-Pierre Principle” would work, but to be fair, most anyone in the Biden administration would work as well.

As we head into the homestretch of the 2022 midterms, let’s see whether the press will pick up on an issue that they’ve been studiously ignoring: the effect of COVID policies. This will be the first time voters will have a chance to register their opinions in a federal election about COVID-related mask mandates, vaccine mandates, lockdowns, and out-of-control spending since the debate heated up in 2021. Those issues—and the attendant issue of parents discovering what the public schools are actually teaching their children—were massive factors in Glenn Youngkin’s victory in last year’s Virginia gubernatorial election. Just one year earlier, remember, Joe Biden beat Donald Trump in Virginia

The Republican tsunami seems to be moving into every part of the country – from Oregon and Washington State to Rhode Island. This is what happens when big wave elections occur. They permeate everywhere. Races that seem hopeless suddenly become hopeful. Races that seem hopeful suddenly become clearly winnable. I watched Democrat tsunamis in 1958, 1974, and 2006. I also saw Republican tsunamis in 1980, 1994, and 2010. There are regular patterns which begin building after Labor Day. As people start thinking about voting, their calculations change. This year is no different

Less than three weeks out from the midterm elections, the polls are moving in one direction. Even MSNBC's Joe Scarborough “senses” the shift in voter sentiment. Earlier this week, he spoke to NBC analyst Steve Kornacki, who compared the midterm elections to previous elections. He sees striking similarities to 2014 when a “slow and late-building wave to the point where, even on election night, the magnitude of it took some folks by surprise.” He pointed out that Republicans in 2014 won back the Senate and “reached their highest level in terms of House seats since 1928.” As Democratic candidates try in vain to resurrect the fervor among pro-choice voters triggered by

Pennsylvania Senate candidates Dr. Oz and John Fetterman are set to face off in their only debate yet on Tuesday as the race continues to narrow with just two weeks to go to the Midterm Elections. Senior fellow at Millersville University Terry Madonna, Real Clear Pennsylvania editor Charles McElwee and Commonwealth Foundation executive vice president Jennifer Stefano joined "Fox & Friends Weekend," Sunday, to discuss the race and what issues are top of mind for Pennsylvanians. "It's a battle of voting margins and the historically working-class regions of Pennsylvania," McElwee told co-host Todd Piro. "So many of

Several former border officials vowed to release the number of illegal migrant crossings into the U.S. by Tuesday if the Biden administration hasn't by then. Former Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Deputy Secretary Ken Cuccinelli, acting Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Commissioner Mark Morgan and acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Tom Homan accused the Biden administration of hiding the number of illegal southwestern border crossings in September. The Trump-era officials pointed out that DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and CBP Commissioner Chris Magnus are required to release the numbers weekly and that if the numbers are not published by Tuesday, the former officials will do it themselves.

In the dog days of summer, as President Joe Biden’s average approval rating plummeted to historic lows amid an intense flurry of national setbacks, policy blunders and rhetorical “gaffes” (otherwise known as palpable senility), most in the punditry class began to predict an imminent “red wave” of Republican electoral dominance in November’s midterm elections. The midterms that take place two years after a new presidency typically favor the opposition party, after all, and certain data — such as the four-decade-high inflation rate that was, and still is, raging like wildfire — pointed in the direction of a strong ballot-box backlash to one-party Democratic rule.

Republicans on the House Ways and Means Committee asked the IRS this week to keep all documents related to its 2021 decision to destroy millions of taxpayer filings, and indicated a deeper congressional inquiry is coming if Republicans take control of the House. During the first few months of the Biden administration, the IRS destroyed 30 million paper-filed "information returns," which must be filed by small business and others to inform the IRS of various transactions. The IRS claimed that "software limitations" prevented it from processing those returns, and a decision was made to destroy them. The IRS insisted that no taxpayers would be penalized

The Oregon gubernatorial candidates clashed in a debate Wednesday on the topic of state funding for police and law enforcement. The candidates for the Oregon governorship are Democrat Tina Kotek, Republican Christine Drazan and independent Betsy Johnson. Following a question about the need for funding law enforcement to combat crime, Kotek was the first to respond. "When people call 911, they need to feel safe and have the right response at the right time. I've always supported our state police," Kotek said. The Democrat continued, asserting that she has always been a supporter of the police and law enforcement. "And we do need more officers.

The Republicans are edging closer to a wave election. They are finally connecting with voters on the issues they care most about – inflation, crime and immigration – while Democrats are essentially fighting a shadow midterm on issues voters care less about. Americans aren’t necessarily acting out of partisanship; they’re venting their frustration with the poor economic fundamentals and the threatened recession. In the summer there was lot of speculation that the incumbent party could defy midterms history and escape a big loss, and I was puzzled by the large segment of Democratic voters who disapproved of President Joe Biden and yet

WASHINGTON — The House committee investigating the Capitol riot won’t give Donald Trump the chance to turn a possible live TV appearance of his subpoenaed testimony into a “circus” and “food fight” as lawmakers try to ensure he complies with their demands, the panel’s vice chair said Sunday. The committee is demanding Trump’s testimony under oath next month as well as records relevant to its investigation. To avoid a complicated and protracted legal battle, Trump reportedly had told associates he might consider complying with the subpoena if he could answer questions during live testimony. When asked if the committee would consider taking his testimony live,

According to the announcement by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, “people cannot buy, sell, or transfer handguns within Canada, nor can they bring newly acquired handguns into the country.” “With handgun violence increasing across Canada, it is our duty to take urgent action to remove these deadly weapons from our communities,” Trudeau said in the statement. There are approximately 1.1 million handguns already in Canada, meaning Mr. Trudeau’s desire to “remove these deadly weapons from our communities” means the Mounties are going to be very busy grabbing guns.

Presidential candidate Joe Biden has a pattern of questionable behavior toward women. His reputation is so robust, the incidents so well-documented that they have earned him the longtime nickname of “Uncle Joe” (for his penchant for using folksy, grandfatherly language even with his peers), with the occasional addition of “Creepy” (for routinely invading women’s personal spaces). How much does behavior like this really matter to voters? We wanted to find out. This  year, Hollywood and the news media took a knee for Sacheen Littlefeather. Woke news outlets including NPR, the New York Times, and Variety ran glowing articles identifying her as a Native American who was unjustly ridiculed and shunned by the industry when she infamously rejected Marlon Brando’s Oscar for The Godfather in 1973. It culminated in August when the Academy publicly apologized to her. There was just one problem. According to her biological sisters, Sacheen Littlefeather, who died earlier this month at 75, wasn’t Native American. Her family has no Indian ancestry they could find. Nor did she grow up with a violent and abusive father

That's too tender a headline, for Malm thinks soup throwing at a Van Gogh painting isn't optimal: "I tend to think sabotage is most effective when it is precise and gritty.
