Two people were fatally stabbed, and six others were injured Thursday on the Las Vegas Strip and a suspect was in custody, police said. The rampage began just before 11:45 a.m. when the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department received reports of multiple victims on South Las Vegas Boulevard near the Wynn Las Vegas hotel. Authorities said three of the surviving victims were in critical condition. Investigators recovered a large kitchen knife they believe was the weapon used in the stabbings. The other victims were taken to a hospital and appeared to be in stable condition, authorities said. No information

At the same time, all the hotels go full Nazi with armed guards rousting guests at 2 am and searching the room for the possibility of guns, while the poor "guest" is held in the hall in their underwear by armed thugs, without ID badges. I wouldn't even consider visiting Vegas these days.....but I never go to gambling places. I'm an engineer, extensively trained in probabilities and statistics. Only suckers bet at casinos. The only POSSIBLE winner is blackjack, but most places use so many decks that card counting is essentially impossible and if they even SUSPECT you are somehow card if you are actually WINNING. They toss you out and permanently ban you. You are only welcome as a foolish sucker to give them all your money. No thanks.

As No. 4 mentions, no way I go back to Vegas. Went there once 20 some years ago on a company sponsored trip. It’s a dark, dark place and emits an uncomfortable aura. I don’t gamble anyway. I guess some people like it but not me. They can have it.

#4, I have been counting for decades, and can tell you it is not impossible, essentially or otherwise. In fact, as an engineer, you would probably be very good at it. A six deck shoe where they deal five decks is not a challenge with proper practice and preparation. It is not as hard as you make it out to be. If they suspect you are counting or you are winning, you may get additional scrutiny. You won't get banned unless you are a threat to their bankroll. Translated, stay out of the smaller casinos. I have seen larger casinos give generous comps to counters, but will offset that by placing a win limit on them. The larger casinos usually have better blackjack rules as well. I prefer winning reasonable amounts in a session and staying under their radar. I will agree with you, there are mostly suckers out there. The casinos are not chartering flights for winners.

When gas prices rise, it instantly fuels political rhetoric about price gouging and the need to help motorists pay at the pump. It’s as automatic as pushing the starter button and hearing the engine crank up. As California prices surged in recent days, Gov. Gavin Newsom proclaimed that he wanted to retaliate against oil moguls by imposing a windfall profits tax and returning the money to drivers. “Crude oil prices are down. Oil industry profits are up. Yet gas prices in CA have increased by record amounts. It doesn’t add up,” the governor tweeted. “We’re not going to stand by

As gas prices hit record highs in Los Angeles County on Wednesday, a pledge by OPEC+ to reduce its oil production by 2 million barrels a day brought new concerns about more economic pain to come. California is facing surging oil prices in the wake of shutdowns at several oil refineries that produce a specific grade of fuel for the state. Prices began to creep up in September after months of declines. And unlike the nationwide rise in gas prices over the summer, this most recent spike is mostly confined to California and the West Coast. There was also debate

President Biden on Wednesday said he would release 10 million more barrels of oil from the U.S.’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) in November in a move to counter raising gas prices again. His decision was announced just hours after Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC+) said it would be cut oil production by 2 million barrels a day. The cuts will restore the oil market for top producers like Saudi Arabia and Russia but are also expected to drive up costs at the pump globally. But Biden’s attempt to circumvent the spike in gases prices, expected to hit the

DeSantis’s 52% to 41% advantage in the Mason-Dixon Polling & Strategy survey comes as Floridians began receiving vote-by-mail ballots across the state as it recovers from the ravages of Hurricane Ian, which made landfall in the southwest of the peninsula and exited its northeast quadrant last week. WASHINGTON - U.S. President Joe Biden's public approval rating edged lower this week and was close to the lowest level of his presidency, with just five weeks to go before the Nov. 8 midterm elections, a Reuters/Ipsos opinion poll completed on Tuesday found. The two-day national poll found that 40% of Americans approve of Biden's job performance, down from 41% a week earlier. The president's sagging popularity, which drifted as low as 36% in May and June, has helped drive expectations that his Democratic Party will lose control of the U.S. House of Representatives in November, and possibly the Senate
