Washington–The Defense Department is shelling out $21 million on what critics argue seems to be the BIden military’s most pressing issue–renaming bases that offend the left. In 90 days, nine Army bases long named for Confederate generals will “immediately” begin swapping to more palatable-to-the-woke-crowd labels such as “Fort Liberty”–in a move that will cost more than $21 million. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin on Thursday ordered the Army to begin renaming nine bases selected for the change by an independent commission after a congressionally mandated 90-day wait period expires. “I fully support the efforts and recommendations of the Naming Commission on this important

I’m old enough to almost remember when we tried not to be a laughing stock and when we resisted our enemies, especially those on the inside. It’s well past time for the grown ups to assert our responsibility to stand together for the good of all, including the fools who’d impose such ridiculous nonsense on the rest of us.

Don't be surprised if Defense Secretary Lloyd "EEOC Token" Austin announces Fort Feather Boas as a new name.

Wasting taxpayer dollars. These guys need to have it taken out of their paychecks. Then we'd see just how serious they were about changing the names.

The Naming Commission - site includes new names and background info. Erasing history because of that blak lowlife George Floyd. What a crock.

If you want to begin cataloging the myriad ways that Democrats waste your tax dollars, begin with this story. Of all the important things in America that need fixing, these dunces really believe that renaming military bases to avoid offending people is an important thing to do. This move is emblematic of how liberals view the world: “Am I offended?” And if I am not offended, trust me, I will find a way to be.

A someone else posted on another thread, "Fort Hood will always be Fort Hood" to people in these parts. Otherwise, when the attack helicopters fly over my roof while training at the local airport, I expect them to be painted pink and for the rotors to make whiny sounds instead of the alpha "Thump! Thump! Thump!" like they do now. Oh, and replace the guns with rose stems.

Don't stop there. Be consistent. Rename everything named after Robert Byrd or LBJ. Won't happen though. Racist Democrat names are acceptable. Non racist Confederate general names are not acceptable. Got it.
What a colossal waste of money. Lloyd Austin is a disgrace incapable of seeing the big picture.

Well, on the bright side, of that $21 Million, there is 10% to "The Big Guy" and 5% each to Austin and Milley.... so it's not a complete waste.
(Do I really need to add the "Sarcasm" tag?)

When the new Republican Congress convenes in January 2023 use the power of the purse to defund the renaming by the DOD to include SECDEF's salary being withheld including his military retirement until all post names are returned to their original names.

Of all the things that need attention in this country this is what we are spending millions of dollars on. How stupid. These morons in DC need to get their heads out of their asses and do the job they were sent there for. Defend and protect the constitution of the United States and its people not some feel good moronic renaming of military based.

I doubt the 5% of the country had any idea that Southern army bases were named after Confederate generals. (I did my basic and AIT at Ft. Benning.) Talk about the Streisand Effect.

Why not $42 million? Also, names reflecting anything short of African tribal chieftains or Proud Drag Kweens would be a grave insult to American values.
