In recent days, the U.S. Department of Justice has served upwards of 40 subpoenas on people affiliated with Donald Trump’s 2020 campaign, many of whom continue to associate with or support him. The reports were first aired by Steven Bannon, and confirmed at least in part by attorney Harmeet Dhillon: (snip) It’s a way to shut down a political movement without having to arrest, indict, or prosecute anyone. We have seen this tactic before, in the 2013-2014 “John Doe” investigation in Wisconsin where a Democrat prosecutor froze almost the entire Wisconsin conservative movement through subpoenas and police raids to obtain documents and electronics.

Exclusive: Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis followed through on his promise to drop off illegal immigrants in progressive states, sending two planes full of migrants to Martha’s Vineyard on Wednesday.
A video provided to Fox News Digital shows the migrants deboarding the planes at Martha’s Vineyard Airport in Massachusetts.
"Yes, Florida can confirm the two planes with illegal immigrants that arrived in Martha’s Vineyard today were part of the state’s relocation program to transport illegal immigrants to sanctuary destinations," the governor’s communications director, Taryn Fenske, told Fox News Digital. Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., has closed the gap in his re-election race, erasing a seven-point deficit to take a one-point lead over his Democratic opponent, Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes, according to a new poll released Wednesday. While Johnson’s 49%-48% lead among likely voters is within the poll’s margin of error, it’s a huge reversal for Johnson in the Marquette Law School poll, considered the gold standard of polling in Wisconsin. In last month's Marquette survey, Barnes led Johnson by seven points, 51% to 44%. The most recent poll also showed Gov. Tony Evers holding his lead over GOP nominee Tim

As if inflation brought on by government overspending weren't high enough already, a new study shows that Joe Biden's illegal migrant surge is costing taxpayers $20.4 billion a year, or $9,232 for each illegal migrant.
According to Fox News:

While each took a different approach, the major broadcast networks of ABC, CBS, and NBC worked Wednesday to isolate President Biden from blame for the pitiful August inflation report showing it came out to 8.3 percent (when the predicted number was 8.1 percent) with energy, food, and rent still soaring. Instead, some of them trumpeted Biden’s “positive spin” and that he’s “not worried about” it while one ignored Biden completely.

It is going to be hard to forget the spectacle of President Joe Biden “celebrating” the passage of his woefully-named Inflation Reduction Act while the stock market plummeted in real time, dropping nearly 1,300 points Tuesday while Biden crowed about his great achievement.
The cable news clips were surreal. There was old man Biden, shaking his fist and shouting at the sky, while in the corner of the screen the Wall Street tracker kept ticking down, stocks plunging in reaction to persistent and worsening inflation. Even CNN had to interrupt coverage of Biden’s remarks to note that the stock market was tanking.

Most Americans are just learning of a pending railway worker strike that might paralyze supply chains and cripple the economy. A potential strike starting this Friday could cost the U.S. economy over $2 billion a day while disrupting agricultural transports. This is an issue that may hurt Democrats badly in the fall midterm elections, because the situation is completely avoidable if the Biden Administration and the Democratic controlled Congress takes decisive action.

Republican wins on hot button topics such as abortion and former President Donald Trump have “enthused” and “engaged” a lackluster Democratic electorate, according to a former White House official.
Jen Psaki, President Joe Biden’s former press secretary, made her first appearance on MSNBC Tuesday since being hired by the network and claimed Trump and abortion restrictions have energized the electorate.
“Appearing on ‘Alex Wagner Tonight,’ on Tuesday evening, Psaki claimed the Democratic Party has flipped from being unexcited about the upcoming elections at the beginning of the year, to now being ‘engaged’ and wanting to ‘participate’ in the races.”

The verdict followed a monthlong trial in Chicago, Kelly’s hometown, where jurors were shown excerpts of the disturbing footage and heard testimony from the victim, now 37, who was identified only as “Jane.”
Jurors deliberated for about 11 hours, beginning on Tuesday afternoon, before returning with a guilty verdict on six of the 13 counts that Kelly had faced, including three child porn charges. In Chicago, a conviction on just one such count carries a mandatory minimum sentence of five to 10 years.

Opinions and feverish debates about public safety have shaped the most momentous political decisions in San Francisco this year, from Mayor London Breed declaring a state of emergency in the Tenderloin, to the historic recall of a district attorney. But in a city where leaders are constantly groping for solutions, some residents still feel afraid to walk home alone or lock their bikes downtown. Spencer touched on this New York Times analysis yesterday, which I think is quite interesting and speaks to at least some of the points I raised in my pre-Labor Day 'electoral lay of the land' post. Polling errors have not been unusual or infrequent in recent cycles, with most of the misses inflating Democrats' standing, compared to their actual vote share performance when the votes were counted. Some of the more infamous examples in the last few years were Florida's statewide polling in 2018 (both Rick Scott and Ron DeSantis were projected to lose, then both Republicans won), and Maine's 2020 Senate race:

Today's CPI inflation report shocked Wall Street and the nation with a significantly higher than expected print. Pollyannas everywhere are painfully learning that there's no magic cure. There's no easy way out. After several years of excessive federal spending, regulating, taxing and money-printing, the highest inflation in 40 years is deeply embedded in the economy and it is spreading. The only significant decline came with gasoline prices.
