Steve Bannon was arrested on Thursday on money laundering and conspiracy charges stemming from a fundraising scheme to build a wall on the Southern border. Bannon, who is the self-proclaimed leader of the “MAGA grassroots movement,” surrendered himself in New York City to prosecutors following the indictment. Apparently, New York AG Letecia James wasn’t satisfied, though. Later in the day, after Bannon had turned himself in, he was put in chains and perp walked down a long line of prepositioned media for his arraignment.Forgive me for not giving James, who has shown herself to be a partisan hack over the years, the benefit of the doubt here. Everything about this appears

… not Democrat women angry over abortion. It’s not independents unhappy with Donald Trump. If Philip Bump’s analysis for the Washington Post is correct, the most enthusiastic demo in this cycle may have been broadly overlooked by prognosticators this summer.
Because the most enthusiastic demo this fall is Republican men (via David Strom, who will join us next week):
On Tuesday, I looked at the growing murmurs that American women in particular are going to flood the polls in the wake of the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. Protecting access to abortion in the wake of the dismantling of Roe v. Wade quickly became a rallying

As we previously reported, there are indications that the Senate may be moving in the direction of the Republicans in some of the critical races, particularly after Biden’s student debt bailout proclamation. In Georgia, Herschel Walker has taken the lead in some polls. Republican Blake Masters, who started far behind Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ) in Arizona, is gaining ground and is now only three points behind. Dr. Mehmet Oz is also gaining on John Fetterman as well, as Fetterman’s issues become more apparent.
Now, there’s more positive news

On Thursday, as RedState reported, Queen Elizabeth II passed away at the age of 96. She lived a life fuller than most, standing as a symbol of hope and decency for the country she represented. The British monarch served in the Auxiliary Territorial Service during World War II before taking the throne in 1952 after the death of her father. Since then, she’s been the most prolific royal since Britain’s move to a constitutional and parliamentary system. No matter one’s thoughts on the idea of having a royal family, there’s no question she was beloved by her country and many others outside it.

Queen Elizabeth II, a jeep and truck mechanic during World War II, crowned during the second premiership of Winston Churchill, was the last living link to the senior leadership of World War II, even as Mikhail Gorbachev’s passing last week represented the last link to the senior figures of the Cold War (with the partial exception of Lech Walesa, who is still with us).
I got to see the Queen once in person, in an unusual scene that I did not fully appreciate at age 14, on my first visit to London in 1971. I was among the very large crowd lining the Mall as a formal procession of the Queen,

Joe Manchin cast the deciding vote for the so-called Inflation Reduction Act, and it may end up costing him his political career if a new poll is to be believed. Manchin, who had originally pledged not to sign on to any new spending bill during the country’s current inflationary boom, suddenly switched his position at the end of July. The bill he negotiated, which cost nearly a trillion dollars, was full of wasteful green energy subsidies and payouts to special interests. It also represented a stabbing in the back of Republican senators who had trusted him to keep his word about reconciliation after voting for the CHIPS Act.

Journalists have done their best to prop up Joe Biden and the Democratic chances in 2022. But there is a sense that the liberal network newscasts are willing to throw the Democrat overboard when it comes to 2024. CBS Mornings on Thursday speculated on when is “too old to serve” for politicians. Among the individuals singled out was Biden. The network even featured a famous clip of the President verbally stumbling and looking confused.
Co-host Tony Dokoupil warned, “President Biden, already the oldest sitting president, is set to become the first president to turn 80 in office.” He continued, “President Biden has faced some of the same criticism from his political opponents.”

Joe Biden’s White House has issued its second threat against the UK government over its refusal to bow to the post-Brexit demands of the EU.
The newly installed Liz Truss government’s refusal to bend to the will of Brussels over ongoing Brexit disagreements to do with the Northern Ireland Protocol risks endangering any potential future trade deal with the United States, Joe Biden’s White House has now threatened. It is the second time the American executive branch has issued what appears to be a veiled threat against Britain’s new government over the last number of days, with Joe Biden previously telling incoming Prime Minister Liz Truss to acquiesce to EU demands

Social media giant Snap reportedly made an “error” that gave leading Democratic campaigns and party committees access to a huge repository of Republican voter data, allowing them to tailor their midterm ads.
Axios reports the social media giant Snap claims to have made a mistake that allowed top Democratic campaigns and party committees to tap into a huge repository of Republican voter data, allowing them to hone and tailor their midterm ads. Snap says that it is working hard to fix the issue and ensure it doesn’t happen again. But the situation brings to light the vulnerabilities of Snap’s internal systems and the sensitivities of having access to huge amounts of voter data.

The long reign of Queen Elizabeth II was marked by her strong sense of duty and her determination to dedicate her life to her throne and to her people.
She became for many the one constant point in a rapidly changing world as British influence declined, society changed beyond recognition and the role of the monarchy itself came into question.
Her success in maintaining the monarchy through such turbulent times was even more remarkable given that, at the time of her birth, no-one could have foreseen that the throne would be her destiny.
Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor was born on 21 April 1926, in a house just off Berkeley Square in London,

A federal grand jury investigating the activities leading up the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol and the push by former President Donald Trump and his allies to overturn the result of the 2020 election has expanded its probe to include seeking information about Trump's leadership PAC, Save America, sources with direct knowledge tell ABC News.
The interest in the fundraising arm came to light as part of grand jury subpoenas seeking documents, records and testimony from potential witnesses, the sources said. The subpoenas, sent to several individuals in recent weeks, are specifically seeking to understand the timeline of Save America's formation, the organization's fundraising activities, and how money

Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) on Tuesday attributed much of Florida’s success to rejecting the groupthink narrative over the last two years and vowed that, under his leadership, the policies of President Biden — policies embraced by his opponent Rep. Charlie Crist (D-FL) — will not be imposed on the Sunshine State.
It is not enough to just have good policies, DeSantis said during a press conference in Fort Myers, where he received an endorsement from the group Everglades Trust. “We’ve shown the leadership necessary to get all this done, and that’s really the most important commodity,” he said, explaining that it is not enough to be a governor
