Sarah Palin Voiced Displeasure After Being
‘Cheated’ By Voting System

Sarah Palin, who ran for Alaska’s Ione House seat, has condemned the results of the special election, which was revealed on Thursday. The special election used ranked-choice voting to declare Mary Peltola, her democrat opponent, as the winner. Palin condemned the election, saying the ranked-choice voting system was painted as though it would reflect the people’s will throughout the election. She added that the results from her election proved that the opposite is true. She added, “The people of Alaska do not want the destructive democrat agenda to rule our land and our lives, but that’s what resulted

How did rank voting become the process there? Is this something that is unique to only Alaska? Who agreed to this confusing method? Is it spreading? Seems not only confusing - intentionally so - but dumb.

I'm sorry to say there's another way to look at ranked voting, and many here won't like it. (I certainly don't.) If a Republican elects NOT to choose an alternate candidate (maybe because that candidate is a Trump supporter), then the Democrat is going to win. I think that's what happened in Alaska. While there's no ranked voting in Pennsylvania, this is exactly the thinking that Democrats in Pennsylvania and elsewhere are counting on this November.

Another word for rank is rancid, which is what ranked choice voting really is. It is a rancid way of picking candidates. Adds a whole new meaning of holding your nose to vote.

Either those people who marked the other candidate don't like her or the party or Sarah or the state should have made sure the voters were aware and educated how the ranked voting works. Especially since they got ranked voting through a referendum of voters. Nothing says she would have won under a traditional voting system. Maybe her time in Alaska politics is just done. She is not "owed" a vote from anyone just because she has an R next to her name. That's how Democrats talk about blacks and it is really distasteful and offensive to tell voters their vote is owned. Sorry Sarah. You're out.

I read that Sarah received 60% of the votes and the other candidate got 40% in the first round. This type of voting is also used in California, the land of fruits, nuts and liberal state officeholders. From what I read, Murkowski and her people got this going, not sure why someone didn't stop it. Is Alaska that liberal?

Murkowski pushed this through to save her senate seat. She knows she cannot win a straight up election, but she could get a enough votes in a rank system to still be a senator. The Republicans in this race combined for 60% of the vote, the Democrat got 40%. In a heads up contest Palen would’ve beat her by 20 points.

#7 - If the election was held in most states, ones that don't have runoffs, Palion would have lost after the first round despite the fact the winner got only 40% of the vote. The ranked choice was not the deciding factor. Now, here's the real rub...the only votes that counted in the "second round" were those cast for the REPUBLICAN who finished third. With that, Peltola took 51.5% of the vote versus Palin's 48.5%. Those Republicans largely "second" voted for the Democrat rather than Palin. Now, ask yourself why. Rematch in November...place your bets.

How Old Bad Ideas Become Wonderful 1 reply

There is no end of history. Instead, civilization is a constant fight to embrace what has worked for the common good through the ages—and to reject what in the past has failed abysmally. Bad and bankrupt ideas, protocols, and ideologies—like McCarthyism, communism, various cults, or fascism—resurface not because of their intrinsic or lasting value or record of success, but because civilizations become less vigilant and allow human vanities, ignorance, arrogance, and evil to reassert themselves. Joe McCarthy Is Back Our Tail Gunner Joe (of semi-truck driving expertise and brilliant legal training fame) in a single week smeared roughly half the country as un-American “semi-fascists.” Then in one of the creepiest speeches

The number of American jobs outsourced to foreign visa workers each year has exploded in recent decades to more than half a million, federal data suggests. The Immigration Act of 1990, signed by then-President George H.W. Bush, greatly expanded the number of visa programs and created today’s business model where employers import foreign visa workers in droves to take American jobs in blue-collar and white-collar industries. Federal data from the State Department shows that in 2021, almost 550,000 foreign visa workers were allowed to enter the United States labor market to take American jobs. Most of those half a million foreign visa workers, almost 470,000,

We've been hearing an awful lot, even from Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) himself, that Republicans taking back control of the Senate isn't as likely to happen, due to "candidate quality." One of them, surprisingly enough, is in Washington state, where Sen. Patty Murray, the Democratic incumbent, is just a few percentage points ahead of her Republican challenger, Tiffany Smiley. It’s hard to pick the most grating member of the January 6th committee. I think for pure hysterical unseriousness, you’d have to go with Adam Kinzinger. He’s so bad that even the other members rarely acknowledge his existence publicly. Of course, Liz Cheney is in the discussion, though she manages to be a bit more cunning in her dissolution of all the principles she claims to hold dear. But as far as the Democrats on the committee go, the choice is easy: Jamie Raskin takes the cake. Raskin obviously learned from Adam Schiff’s behavior during the facial and wasted effort of the Robert Mueller investigation.

The Department of Education seemed to be well aware of the educational failings of government-run schools based on the town hall hosted by the White House last week, but analysis once again indicated trifles such as math and reading were taking a backseat to woke indoctrination. Moderated by Education Secretary Miguel Cardona with guests including National Education Association (NEA) President Becky Pringle and American Federation of Teachers (AFT) President Randi Weingarten, the Ed. Dept. back-to-school town hall only briefly touched on the serious concern of the already steadily declining test scores among nine-year-olds in reading and math taking a sharp nosedive since 2020.

Labor Day was once the most blatantly political US holiday — created by the trade-union movement to celebrate the right of working people to bargain collectively and to stage strikes to press their demands. The Post was an early and vigorous supporter of the movement. As early as 1836, editor William Cullen Bryant wrote: “Strike the right of associating for the sale of labor from the privileges of a freeman, and you may as well at once bind him to a master.” New York hosted the nation’s first Labor Day parade when 10,000 workers marched from City Hall to Union Square.

This was rendered abundantly clear during his Thursday speech at Independence Hall in Philadelphia. Standing before a backdrop that looked as if it had been designed by Leni Riefenstahl, he attacked the motives of half the electorate.

At a national level there is a unique policy priority that almost every politician, on both sides, will avoid discussing. At a national level a single policy priority determines all other national policy issues. That policy is the national economic policy. The national economic policy of a presidential candidate determines all other national policies that flow from the presidential candidate. The national economic policy impacts the obvious policies like energy and trade, and also determines the lesser obvious policies like regulation and even foreign policy. It is specifically because a candidate’s national economic outlook impacts all other issues, that most national politicians never talk about it.
