The felon accused of kidnapping billionaire heiress Eliza Fletcher was recently released from prison after serving a 20-year sentence for a similar crime. Cleotha Abston, 38, was arrested and convicted in 2000 for the kidnapping of Memphis attorney Kemper Durand. At around 2am May 25, 2000, Abston approached Durand from behind on Beale Street in Memphis then robbed him and forced him into the trunk of his car, according to the Memphis Flyer. Abston then drove Durand around for several hours, then forced him into an ATM and demanded he draw out cash. While in the ATM Durand spotted a housing authority officer and yelled for help, causing Abston to flee.

The guy cannot help it. His actions are the inevitable result of purely materialistic chemical reactions that led to an outcome that he has no control over. Remember, in the 21st century there is no God nor spirituality. It is all materialistic processes that nobody is responsible for. There is no free will. There is only a series of chemical reactions over which no man has control. /s off

Correct # 11. 4:30 is a prime time for predators. This woman was a mother of two little kids. Put a treadmill on the back porch and jog there if you need to see the sunrise. Memphis isn't Mayberry. I'm not trying to blame the victim, but jogging at 4 AM, anywhere other than at an indoor track is insane. I have known colleagues and friends who were compulsive joggers, but normal in other parts of their lives. And I always pointed out to them that Jim Fixx, who wrote the popular book, "The Complete Book on Running" died of a massive heart attack while jogging, and he was in his 40s.

Re # 15, Fixx was 52, but the point is the same and still valid. But arterial buildups can be initiated by a random bacterial or viral inflammation of the arterial wall, which attracts plaque buildup, even with pretty low blood lipid levels. Family history plays a large part. I exercised on a bike for 25+ years in the warm months, cholesterol was 150. Still had a very mild infarction at only a handful of years older than Fixx. I took a large dose of aspirin and quickly got to the ER. Treated, home the next day, no restrictions after 6 weeks and now I bike three times a week because I'm retired. That event was nearly 20 years ago, recent tests show no lingering issues. Is heavy exercise a magical cure all? No. But cardio workouts are good for you, in general, although joint stress is high in running. But, exposing one's self to attackers in a early AM jog, without a gun, can be a very bad choice. A niece jogs and she carries a .38 when she runs, and knows how to use it. I doubt that Fletcher is alive.

Seriously do any of these affirmative action commercials induce the vast majority of Americans to go out and buy the woke products they are pushing? Is this supposed to reassure us that the majority of violent crimes committed in our Country are not committed by this same segment of our population? Hard questions that need to be asked. The Truth must be spoken out loud.

The dog is really tough looking and actually is a really tough dog. The dog is friendly enough with people but I think it's the Rottweiler in her that makes her not trusting of men. We have encountered a few men and the dog comes right beside me and does not take her eyes off the man. I know the dog senses my reaction to them. I tell my husband where I'm going and if he does not hear from me in an hour to come looking. I know I probably should not be going out alone but the dog loves it and so do I.

How Old Bad Ideas Become Wonderful 1 reply

There is no end of history. Instead, civilization is a constant fight to embrace what has worked for the common good through the ages—and to reject what in the past has failed abysmally. Bad and bankrupt ideas, protocols, and ideologies—like McCarthyism, communism, various cults, or fascism—resurface not because of their intrinsic or lasting value or record of success, but because civilizations become less vigilant and allow human vanities, ignorance, arrogance, and evil to reassert themselves. Joe McCarthy Is Back Our Tail Gunner Joe (of semi-truck driving expertise and brilliant legal training fame) in a single week smeared roughly half the country as un-American “semi-fascists.” Then in one of the creepiest speeches

The number of American jobs outsourced to foreign visa workers each year has exploded in recent decades to more than half a million, federal data suggests. The Immigration Act of 1990, signed by then-President George H.W. Bush, greatly expanded the number of visa programs and created today’s business model where employers import foreign visa workers in droves to take American jobs in blue-collar and white-collar industries. Federal data from the State Department shows that in 2021, almost 550,000 foreign visa workers were allowed to enter the United States labor market to take American jobs. Most of those half a million foreign visa workers, almost 470,000,

One of them, surprisingly enough, is in Washington state, where Sen. Patty Murray, the Democratic incumbent, is just a few percentage points ahead of her Republican challenger, Tiffany Smiley. It’s hard to pick the most grating member of the January 6th committee. I think for pure hysterical unseriousness, you’d have to go with Adam Kinzinger. He’s so bad that even the other members rarely acknowledge his existence publicly. Of course, Liz Cheney is in the discussion, though she manages to be a bit more cunning in her dissolution of all the principles she claims to hold dear. But as far as the Democrats on the committee go, the choice is easy: Jamie Raskin takes the cake. Raskin obviously learned from Adam Schiff’s behavior during the facial and wasted effort of the Robert Mueller investigation.

The Department of Education seemed to be well aware of the educational failings of government-run schools based on the town hall hosted by the White House last week, but analysis once again indicated trifles such as math and reading were taking a backseat to woke indoctrination. Moderated by Education Secretary Miguel Cardona with guests including National Education Association (NEA) President Becky Pringle and American Federation of Teachers (AFT) President Randi Weingarten, the Ed. Dept. back-to-school town hall only briefly touched on the serious concern of the already steadily declining test scores among nine-year-olds in reading and math taking a sharp nosedive since 2020.

Labor Day was once the most blatantly political US holiday — created by the trade-union movement to celebrate the right of working people to bargain collectively and to stage strikes to press their demands. The Post was an early and vigorous supporter of the movement. As early as 1836, editor William Cullen Bryant wrote: “Strike the right of associating for the sale of labor from the privileges of a freeman, and you may as well at once bind him to a master.” New York hosted the nation’s first Labor Day parade when 10,000 workers marched from City Hall to Union Square.

This was rendered abundantly clear during his Thursday speech at Independence Hall in Philadelphia. At a national level there is a unique policy priority that almost every politician, on both sides, will avoid discussing. At a national level a single policy priority determines all other national policy issues. That policy is the national economic policy. The national economic policy of a presidential candidate determines all other national policies that flow from the presidential candidate. The national economic policy impacts the obvious policies like energy and trade, and also determines the lesser obvious policies like regulation and even foreign policy. It is specifically because a candidate’s national economic outlook impacts all other issues, that most national politicians never talk about it.
